We want to go back to the breaking news and the terror in manhattan. At least eight people are dead and nearly a dozen hurt as a man turned a bike path into a killing field. Weve been trying to put this into some sort of context. This is the deadliest attack in new york city since september 11th. Five victims from argentina, another victim from belgium. New york city poliay attacker is Sayfullo Saipov. He left a note in the truck that he used to hit those victims and in that note he claims he committed the attacks for isis. We have Team Coverage of this terror attack beginning with Aaron Gilchrist who kicks off our coverage who is live in new york. Aaron, set the scene for us. Reporter the description that came from witnesses yesterday just laid out a picture of a horrifying scene with that truck coming up that bike path. That is sort of barriered, if you will, by concrete. People had nowhere to go as that truck came down the path yesterday. This morning we know investigators are still on the scene here. That truck is still on the scene here as police try to piece together exactly what happened. Youre looking at a live picture of the truck mangled here after having run into a school bus. Some 15 hours after this all happened yesterday afternoon. Police say this area will be closed off for the foreseeable future as they investigate. You see new officers and investigators showing up t were seeing that happen every few minutes or so at this point. Now take a look at some cell phone video that shows the suspect running away from the scene after the attack here. Look at that. He had a hoodie on pulled over his head, but new york city say that is 29yearold Sayfullo Saipov. You can see him running into traffic there. He then pulled out what we now know is a bb gun that he eventually fired at people. Want to show you another picture that was taken moments later. This shows officers arresting the suspect after he had been shot in the stomach by a new York City Police officer. Witnesses say everything was horrifying. It happened so fast. It happened out of nowhere. I was walking down the street. It was a normal day. Hes in the bike lane. Clearly in the bike lane. When i go down, i see two gentlemen laying right there in the bike lane with tire marks across their body. You could tell that theyre not here no more. Family trips as well and now more than ever Law Enforcement said they need our help to keep these areas safe. So what can you do . For one, theyre asking you to keep an eye out for all those cameras. They are, of course, everywhere these days, the cell phone cameras. Watch where they are aimed. If they are aimed at a door to a secured building or a checkpoint, they say you can likely consider that to be suspicious. If you are out somewhere at a monument or another venue, you hear someone asking a lot of suspicious questions about shift changes, access points, that also can be considered a red flag. The other points might be a bit more offer such as yanking an alarm to see what the response might be. Others might be more slight. If you see something, Say Something especially now as they are stepping up their patrol. We see what happened in new york with the vehicle ramming. We take measures to make sure it doesnt happen here. Reporter and, of course, police say even before what happened in new york yesterday their attention had been focused on potential car ramming incidents.
