northern virginia and a lot of you are sharing this story on our facebook page and making it clear how you feel. it goes from prince george spotsylvania counties. you spoke with the man who started all of this jackie? >> reporter: well we can tell you this petition was started several months ago. it is such a part of the daily existence for month commuters that most people don't register the official name of a significant part of route 1 as it threads through northern virginia. it bears the name of the man who served as president of the confederacy jefferson davis. >> i started on may 2nd six weeks before the charleston massacre, the dreaded charleston massacre. >> the reaction to the petition? >> 3000 people have signed it so far, the last time i looked. but i've had this negative reactions to it as well which is expected and there are people entitled to their own opinion. >> with the passage of time jefferson davis is not as familiar as he once was to virginians. >> do you know who jefferson davis is? >> no, i don't? >> any guesses? >> i don't know. >> there are actually five change.org petitions to repage jefferson davis highway in virginia. jackie ben sen, news four. think on facebook on our nbc washington app. several people on flights in the dulles had to get medical attention once they touched down because of severe turbulence from puerto rico the united airlines radared -- radios ahead that three passengers were hurt. they went to the hospital to get check out. and a light from san francisco ran into bad tush lent but didn't need help in dulles. police arrested a man who they say was driving drunk and rear-ended a state trooper. it happened this morning in alexander. the trooper was helping out with a dui stop and had his flights flashing. the man slammed into the back of his cruiser and paramedics had to treat the trooper with minor head injuries. the driver has a lot more charges pending. d.c. police arrested a woman because she attacked a man who wouldn't give her a cigarette. the man was at a bus stop on rhode island avenue when the woman asked for a smoke. when he didn't give her one, she punched him, scratched his face and tried to steal his bag. someone walking by called police and officers arrested her for robbery. storm team 4 is tracking the fog rolling into areas right now and when you wake up on sunday morning certain communities will see the bulk of this, meteorologist amelia siegal is looking into why. >> areas south of washington dealing with the most widespread fog tomorrow morning already tracking fogginess around stafford, visibility about two miles but as we continue overnight fog will continue to develop. so fog in places tomorrow morning other wise a nice start. 6:00 a.m. at 72 degrees. any we start the wok week. >> thanks amelia. a teen-ager got into a skateboard rec in ocean city and now police say he wasn't wearing a helmet or protective gear. the boy is 14 from maryland and he was holding on to a moving car on his skateboard. it is not clear if the driver knew he was back there but the boy lost his footing and fell off the board and now he is in critical condition in a baltimore hospital. an area of the probably u. veet neighborhood is back open and people are looking for agroup of men who was shot there. a man was found on the ground near 14th and v. near dozens of pictures of baltimore's mayor soaking wet after a woman threw water on her. she was at a festival in baltimore when it happened but the press sect for stephanie rawlings-blake said she is fine. police took the woman into custody and charged her with assault and we are still trying to find out why shedy it. for 15 years the naacp demanded the confederate flag be removed from south carolina statehouse grounds an the state made the move yesterday and tonight the civil rights organization is making a move of its own. and an increase in coyotes attacks and the reason for the spike might surprise you. for years inspectors have been saying this warehouse was a huge fire risk and it looks like they were right. this afternoon a fire burned down two of the warehouses in georgia. officials were so worried about it spreading they had to evacuate several homes nearby. a rough ride. this party boat losts steering and crashed off the coast of north carolina. six people had to go to the hospital after they were jolted. passengers were stuck on the boat for hours until police wrapped up the investigation. >> we come here every year and this is the first year we decided we're going to try this and never again. i will not go on this ever again. >> investigators gave the captain a breathalyzer test and now say alcohol didn't have anything to do with the crash. after 15 years, the naacp's economic boycott of south carolina is over. the civil rights group announced the end the day after legislators voted to take down the confederate flag. tonight they released a statement calling the removal a victory but naacp officials say they are ready to fight the battle in other states where what they call symbols of oppression are sill celebrated. the beginning of the workweek have been four attacks in irvine. a family attacked a child in a garage and one attacks a 7-year-old girl in a living room. one woman came face-to-face with a coyote and said she was just glad her baby wasn't with her. >> i was stamping my feet and he wasn't backing out. >> the drought is driving the animals into residential neighborhoods but humans aren't helping. humans are nor likely to post a picture of a coyote instead of run it off and now they are not afraid of populated areas. an explosion in rhode island today. the woman was sitting on the beach near the water when there i was -- was a loud bhoom and she was thrown against the rockwall. witnesses say she ended up face down in the sand. >> she answered our questions and she had pain in her neck and her hip and one of her legs. >> now they did call in a bomb squad but they are still not sure if there was a device in the sand or just some freak of nature caused by maybe an early or lightning strike in the area. they don't see any threat to public safety and the beach is closed for now but will probably reopen tomorrow. someone stole seven lifeguard stands off the beach in rehoboth beach and they think they were put out to sea. they are heavy and each weighs 500 pounds and at $800 each the loss is well into the thousands. fortunately they are plenty of back-ups so the beach is fully staffed this weekend. good thing too, because i can imagine there are a ton of people heading to the beach this weekend. >> tomorrow looking like a great day at the beach. and locally the weather will be great here as well tomorrow. the humidity is bearable. we'll have plenty of sunshine it. will be warm, highs tomorrow in the mid-80s to low 90s. but with the humidity not too high, we'll take it. now temperatures coming in in the 60s and 70s. it is going to be chilly in some spots overnight tonight. washington standing out as the warmest spot at 78 degrees. but frederick is already down to 64. culpepper down to 65. and fredericksburg at 71 right now. now i am starting to track some areas of fog. culpepper reporting visibility at about a mile and a half and also getting reports of fog down around the stafford area and it will favor areas south of washington because the rain lasted longer during the morning and midday hours. storm team 4 radar when we add in the legislative imagery -- satellite imagery, it is
