dangerous and posed a flight risk. he is charged with murdering kevin sundherland. accord fog the coroner's report he was stabbed more than 20 times and had additional 20 cut wounds. now the suspect was seen on video surveyillance tape fleeing the scene. you will hear from some of sutherland's friends about their loss. and police checking out a baby found in a stroller with no adults around. paramedics came to the scene and took the baby to the hospital. the child is expected to be okay. just moments later a woman was arrested about a block away. it was not the baby's mother. we're going to have updates for you as we get them. both aircraft crashed to the ground. pieces of the cesna landed on some campers in a campground. the family who owns it was not inside and no one else on the ground has been hurt. >> three workers were rushed to the hospital after a fire at the former shaw jr. high school building in dc today. we're now told two of them have critical injuries. this all started at around 11:30 at the building. firefighters saw smoke pouring out of the building. when they got there, they tell us a transformer in the basement caught fire. the employees work for the department of general services. >> we're awaiting word from montgomery county police about what's happening. they shut it down after a van crashed, flipped over and spilled its contents all over the road. bg & e were fixing power lines that were down. an elect call fire in the basement there sent smoke into the building. the u.s. marshals arrested benjamin this morning at a trailer park in smith county. they asked smyth if they could use a home to use their shower. deputies are actively searching for a man they say has been terrorizing his neighbors for years. >> this man has been relentless in harassing neighbors in this neighborhood. george got a peace order after he says the man used a bob cat to tear down his fence. he put up video cameras to capture his neighbor in the act. the neighbor violated the peace order and ordered to undergo anger management classes. he falsified documents to show he attended the course but never did. he has been convicted of purgery and obstruction of justice. until neighbors know this man is behind bars they will continue to fare for their lives. >> right now a jury is deciding the fate of a local man charged with ordering a hit on his uncle. brian is already serving a life sentence for double murder. his uncle was the star witness and told the grand jury that his nephew killed two men. the uncle was shot and killed and investigators say that hit was ordered from jail. >> we are just learning the cause of a fire that seriously injured a person in a house in bethesda this morning. more than 75 firefighters worked to bring that blaze under control. montgomery county fire tweeted a photo of some of the damage. you can see the fire started in the basement and burned right through the main floor. they believe a gas furnace ignited the blaze. the injured person is expected to survive. >> it's our old friend the 90s. doug how long is he going to stick around this time? >> the only 90s i like is the music from the 90s. we've got jared fogle. it's a story that has a lot of you talking. wendy is in the newsroom with more on what subway has to say about the raid. >> this story has got everyone buzzing. this raid comes just months after a top jared foundation employee was arrested on child pornography charges. our nbc affiliate in indiana first reported that today's raid is part of that investigation and this afternoon subway sent out a statement expressing shock and concern about this. jared fogle lives in an affluent neighborhood a suburb of indianapolis. agents removed electronics from his home and analyzed them inside a mobile forrenzices fan. he is not under arrest. his wife and children left the home shortly after this raid began. jared became the pitchman for subway more than 15 year ace go after he shed missionary work and to look out for the poorest among them. after the mass the pope visited catholic university where he met with students and professors. tomorrow he goes on to bolivia and ends his week in paraguay. and a disturbing trend on the use of heroin. the use is up among different age groups and income levels. men are still the majority but rates among women is growing. >> heroin is increasingly the hard drug of choice for a growing number of americans. its usage has risen dramatically. >> i have been watching it over a number of years. >> the doctor is a medical director for carolina's health care system. he says people tend to seek out heroin after becoming hooked on prescription opiod painkillers which have the same effect on the brain but are more expensive and harder to get. >> they don't have to go into doctor's offices and try to scam for drugs any longer. they can buy it on the street. >> the new record from the food and drug administration and centers for disease control shows people who abuse prescription opiod drugs are 40 times more likely to become addicted to heroin. >> we're seeing people becoming addicted in all areas, low middle and high income. we're seeing heroin diffusing throughout society. but we can turn this around. >> more education is needed for doctors who have the difficult job to figure out which truly benefit and which are at risk of abusing drugs. experiods called for expanded access and medications that can help reverse overdoses. >> meanwhile a maryland lawmaker is calling on state leaders to do more to get the without bond. he appeared before a judge today. police say he attacked a man on a train saturday afternoon while trying to steal the man's cell phone. kevin sutherland was stabbed several times while other riders stood by and watched. defense officials tell us he was able to eject safely before the crash. a news conference is expected at the top of the hour. the crash happened after 6:00 this morning on the southbound lanes between the beltway and turkey run. >> it appears that fewer of you are using metro these days. ridership is down about 8% over the past five years. some 222 million who admits he shot and killed a woman at a popular peer in san francisco in a jailhouse interview with our partner, our broadcast partner. admitted he fired the fatal shot but says it was an accident. he found a gun wrapped in cloth and that when he picked it up it went off. he doesn't remember the murder because he was high on sleeping pills. he says he chose san francisco to live in because he knew the city wouldn't turn him over to immigration officials. >> the bell affectionately known around the world at big ben tolled at 11:30 to mark the start of a minute of silence for the victims of london bombings. the united kingdom came to a standstill. it was ten years ago today that four suicide bombers blew themselves up on london's public transportation network. it happened during the morning rush hour. 700 others were injured. >> i want to go back to the maryland mom who is charged with abandoning her baby on the side of the road on the fourth of july. the judge kept her bail at half a million dollars. i understand you spoke with sandra's mom. what does she say happened? >> that's right. sandra appeared in court through video conferencing. i spoke to her mother and she said the whole ordeal has been upsetting because she says that mcclairey of domestic abuse. it is said that she took her baby out of the car and left it on the side of the road but her mother said on the night of july 4, she and her boyfriend were arguing on the way to a party. she says he hit her and was abusive so she pulled the car over he took the baby out and she drove away. this will all become part of the defense. prosecutors meanwhile say mcclairy is a flight risk and has a criminal history. they say they will present evidence that shows she was intoxicate intoxicated. she quietly cried sexual misconduct allegations against comedian bill cosby are being seen in a new light today. >> the judge unsealed a deposition cosby gave about ten years ago. in it cosby admitted he got sedatives to give to women that he wanted to sleep with. one of his early accusers sees this as vindication. >> bill cosby's admission is part of a 2005 deposition for a case eventually settled out of court. in that case cosby was questioned about allegations of drugging and sexual assaulted a woman. rsh the credibility of their stories often questioned. cosby has denied allegations and no criminal charges have been filed. the statute of limitations in many of the claims have expired. >> the civil suits obviously get a boost from this evidence. other suits can be filed. >> neither cosby nor his attorneys have commented but for one of the earliest accusers it's vindication. >> he brought this on himself. he did this to himself. we're opening pandora's box. i can't speak about anything legally killing him. prosecutors say they are certain that jasper spyres is their man. >> the friends of kevin are together now remembering him in a positive way. >> jasper spires tried to rob on saturday afternoon. at least four passengers watched as the sutherland was stabbed to death.
