february. >> uh-huh, no kidding. already feels mild out there, karen, as we take a look at the weather sent you see some clouds out there. there. goal expect clouds to give way to increasing sunshine. looks like a very mild afternoon. already this morning not too bad. still in the 30's in allentown, 37 degrees there. 39 degrees in reading but in philadelphia, 48 degrees. 51 in trenton, 51 in wilmington, 53 currently in millville and 43 a little cooler in cape may. we have an issue with fog around the region and in some cases it is dense. in philadelphia you see only a third of a mile visibility, same thing in allentown, reading and lancaster, under a mile in wilmington and just a little bit more than a mile visibility in millville and everywhere you see this gray, there is the chance of some dense fog all the way up to the poconos so be careful driving around. dense fog advisory in effect until 10 o'clock this morning. temperatures are really going to zoom, though. 52 degrees by 8 o'clock. 55 degrees by 10 o'clock. the clouds will break up and give way to increasing sunshine later on. by noon we're probably up to 60 which is already better than yesterday. and then 66 degrees by 2 o'clock and this model has about 69 degrees for a high. i'm going to push it to 70 and if we get that it would tie the record in philadelphia. looks like a record setter tomorrow. karen, we'll have all of that coming up in the seven-day. >> dave, you can see the fog if you look in our camera shot here. we also see construction crews they're blocking the right lane. penndot is on the scene with their arrow board. this is i-95 near bridge street as you head northbound towards cottman watch for restrictions here with construction and of course the fog through the area causing a bit of an issue. foggy over the ben franklin bridge as well right now. in fact kind of hard to see, we have 35 miles an hour speed restrictions on the ben franklin bridge due to the fog so just be careful as you're coming in and out of the city on the area bridges. i had a little tough time on the walt whitman bridge this morning trying to see as well. in fact, looking over the bridge overview right now, burlington bristol, the overnight construction is cleared which is good, since it's kind of hard to see those construction crews out there at this moment. also the betsy ross bridge we have 35 miles an hour speed restrictions. 25 on the walt whitman bridge. and the commodore barry bridge foggy as well but currently not seeing speed restrictions there. let's take one more look outside. this is a foggy schuylkill at south street. we still have construction. you can get the hint of the flashing lights there and this is as you head towards the vine. we've got the left lane blocked westbound and eastbound, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. all across the country people are standing up to say something different has got to happen. this horrified response to the florida school shooting that led to the murder of 17 people. but while many are pushing for more gun control a delaware county police superintendent is going in another direction. "action news" reporter jeanette reyes is live for us now at upper darby high school with the proposal. good morning, jeanette. >> reporter: good morning, tam. well, this official is saying the best solution is to arm personnel in the schools. now, this idea is hardly anything new. however it crops up every time we see a mass shooting but his reasoning, he says, is just a matter of stopping the threat as soon as possible. after yet another deadly months school shooting a proposal that is sure to spark heated discussion. superintendent michael chitwood is proposing a controversial program called the save our children initiative. it would allow preselected teachers or other personnel to conceal carry guns in school. the idea is that they could stop the threat in case of an attack and save countless lives. chitwood says school shootings typically last three to five minutes and it takes police about that long to just arrive on scene. >> bottom line is by the time we get there, the threat is already over. so, my thought is as follows and it's got to be a national thing. it can't be isolated to particular communities. >> reporter: under pennsylvania law guns are currently not allowed to school so the legislature two of make an exception to school personnel. as for parents it's already getting strong reactions on both sides of the issue. >> i have a license to carry and everything is legal, that kind of thing and be more than glad to do it. >> have it on a holster and some disruptive person can grab it from you. i think it's an absolutely abysmal idea. >> reporter: and you probably a already have thoughts on this whether you're a parent or not. join the discussion. give us your thoughts. do you think it's a good idea or bad idea? perhaps you have an alternative? join our facebook page discussion and tell us what you think. we would love to see it. reporting live in upper darby, jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." >> a woman is recovering from several gunshot wounds as police try to figure out if she was caught in the crossfire when two people started shooting. the 59-year-old woman was wounded while she was on the 2700 block of reed street in the city's grays ferry section last night. investigators think more than 20 shots were fired along the street. police rushed the victim to penn presbyterian hospital. at this time police are still looking for the shooters. a gunman shot and killed a 19-year-old man in philadelphia's olney section. the victim was wounded once in the head. it happened on the 5800 block of north seventh street yesterday evening. police are still looking for the killer and a motive. >> investigators are still looking for answers on why an ambulance company in woodstown went up in flames. we first told you the breaking news as the fire was burning yesterday morning. the flames destroyed both the building for the american legion ambulance association and torched five ambulances at a loss of $2 million. the ambulance association served parts of the salem county community. nearby towns are now loaning them ambulances so emergency services can go on. >> the families of danielle imbo and richard petrone, jr., marked 13 years since the south jersey couple's disappearance. they were last seen leaving abilene's bar on the 400 block of south street in philadelphia on february 19th, 2005. authorities say they were riding in petrone's 2001 black dodge dakota pickup truck. it has never been found and their credit card and cell phones were never used. >> every year that goes by that we don't have an answer, and we don't get justice, it's just agony. it's just agony. >> there is a $50,000 reward for information in the case. >> philadelphia police have released new surveillance video of vandals during the eagles super bowl parade. it shows a group of people who climbed on top of a septa bus stop shelter at 15th and j.f.k. in center city on february 8th. as they were standing on the roof, part of it collapsed. central detectives asked anyone who thinks they can identify the people in this video to give them a call. >> the pennsylvania state supreme court has ordered a major voting shakeup. the court which is majority democratic ruled those convoluted zigzag lines in the state's current -- >> far fewer times. about the new districts but the process. >> it's been a 200 plus years of precedence that a lloyd legislature to draw these lines. it's not up to the courts to do that. >> this is the delaware line. >> reporter: a point also flagged by the committee of 70 a nonpartisan watchdog group though they argued a new map is fair and splits fewer counties but could pose some headaches for voters in the future. >> voters are going to be challenged to figure out who is running in their district. the numbers are all changed. >> oh, it's definitely confusing but i'll keep my eyes and ears opened. >> reporter: republicans are planning to go to the federal court to try to block this new map which inevitably political analysts say will have to be redrawn after the 2020 census. in media, christie ileto channel6 "action news". >> president trump marked president's day by continuing to tweet about russian meddling in the 2016 election. trump now seems to acknowledge that it happened in the wake of robert mueller's indictments of 13 russians on friday but trump continues to blame the democrats and now specifically barack obama. trump said in a tweet obama was the president up to and beyond the 2016 election asking why obama didn't do something about russian meddling. >> so, it's going to be really warm later, david, but we've got some dense fog in some spots right now. >> yes, we do. storm tracker6 live double scan shows at least we're dry although anywhere you have fog there is some of that moisture on your windshield. as we take a look outside or try to, anyway, there you see penn's landing and of course it's easier to get a shot like this when you have the camera well above the ground but even at the surface there are reports of some dense fog. so you want to be careful through the fog. at this height you can see traffic appears to be getting up and down i-95 with no big problem. 48 degrees is your current temperature, winds west-southwest at 7 miles per hour and obviously not too windy and that is one of the reasons why the fog is settled in. you need some wind to kick it out or the sun to come up and start evaporating the top of it. that will that probably happen by about 9, 10 o'clock this morning. 37 degrees currently in allentown, 39 degrees in reading, 48 in philadelphia, 51 in trenton, 51 in wilmington. even in these cooler suburbs for now it looks like the temperatures are high enough where you're not going to get any of that drizzle or water droplets related to any fog freezing up on road surfaces so you should be okay that way. your big issue is going to be visibility. 53 degrees in millville, 44 in cape may. there you see the clouds building in from yesterday and still there right now. it doesn't look like there's hemorrhage much of a break out to the west and we still have some precipitation up in new york state but we actual are expecting the sunshine to break back through as we go through the morning and into the afternoon. today's forecast overall, mild. 52 degrees by 8 o'clock. still dealing with some fog in some spots. by 10 o'clock the fog should be breaking and after that we expect the return of a decent amount of sunshine. a noon temperature of 61. and by 3 o'clock, we're going to go for a high of 70. if we hit that, it will tie the existing record in philadelphia set all the way back in 1939. even by 6 o'clock tonight, it's a pretty nice pattern for you and this unfortunately is a different graphic but shows you what we were doing yesterday so if you want to just kind of look back and say, yeah , it was cloudy and a little cool. all right. then we go into the tale of two seasons. out in the west coast area right now it's cold with a trough and a jet stream. actually have freeze warnings out in california but as you move to the east, big ridge of high pressure in place. this is a real powerful ridge that's going to be with us for a couple days and that flow around it is going to grab onto really warm air from places like saint louis atlanta and raleigh, bring it up into our neck of the woods and we'll wind up with temperatures next couple of days roughly 25 degrees above average. in fact, future tracker6 tomorrow shows you starting out in the 40's -- excuse me, 50's and then winding up in the 70's tomorrow and i'm actually going for a high of 73 tomorrow, which would be a record in philadelphia. so, 70 is today's high. temperature absolutely zooming. worked get some sunshine back in play once we dump the morning fog and clouds. record warmth tomorrow with a high of 73. the old record 72 set back in 1930, a couple of real old records getting touched the next couple days. thursday we're back to cooler and more damp conditions with rain arriving during the day, 49 the high and on friday periods of rain, cloudy skies and 48 degrees the high there. then we get back up into the 60's for the weekend. looks like 61-degree highs on saturday. and again, on sunday,. and on saturday we are looking at some afternoon rain moving in and there might be a little bit more of that spilling in for parts of sunday. there's a chance most of it is over in the morning but we'll see the area so you're going to want to slow it down as you head out right now. we're looking live at the schuylkill expressway here near the boulevard. no other problems. just lots of low clouds out there as you're heading out so be careful for that right now. we do still have construction on the schuylkill near south street blocking a lane in either direction. this is upper moreland and easton road is closed between mill road and the pennsylvania turnpike. it's an accident involving a pedestrian. we're hearing there are injuries on the scene so you'll see ems workers on the scene here in upper moreland so watch for this. stick to york road or moreland road as your alternate because easton road is shut down and with poor and visibility kind of hard to see pedestrians and construction workers out there so make sure you slow it down. we're looking outside live at 422 and this particular shot fog not looking as bad right now. no extra overnight construction. this is a live look towards trooper. that's your eastbound traffic heading towards king of prussia and moving fine through the region. let's look at the visibility reports with the fog just 310ths of a mile in allentown philadelphia lancaster and reading so you can see really poor visibility out there. the fog causing a problem in millville, 1.3-mile visibility. so be careful as you head out certainly if you're flying out you want to call ahead with problems like that at the airport as well. certainly we're mild, though. 42 degrees in quakertown. the upper 40's already in center city. it's 55 in hammonton and it's already 56 degrees in dover, delaware. and we're going up from there topping off at 70, matt. >> thank you, karen. three workers are back on the ground after dangling off the side of a highrise in jacksonville, florida. one of the workersers was hanging from a harness yesterday. another was stranded in scaffolding that was heavily tilted on the side of the building. firefighters secured an anchor and pulled all three workers to the roof. >> a massive tree crashed through a family's home in north carolina. the force of the impact flattened part of the house and sheared off a section of the roof. a family of three was inside when the tree fell early yesterday morning in charlotte. they were able to escape by crawling out of a window. many of their belongings were damaged the 2016 election asking why obama didn't do something about russian meddling. >> so, it's going to be really warm later, david, but we've got some dense fog in some spots right now. >> yes, we do. storm tracker6 live double scan shows at least we're dry although anywhere you have fog there is some of that moisture on your windshield. as we take a look outside or try to, anyway, there you see penn's landing and of course it's easier to get a shot like this when you have the camera well above the ground but even at the surface there are reports of some dense fog. so you want to be careful through the fog. at this height you can see traffic appears to be getting up and down i-95 with no big problem. 48 degrees is your current temperature, winds west-southwest at 7 miles per hour and obviously not too windy and that is one of the reasons why the fog is settled in. you need some wind to kick it out or the sun to come up and start evaporating the top of it. that will that probably happen by about 9, 10 o'clock this morning. 37 degrees currently in allentown, 39 degrees in reading, 48 in philadelphia, 51 in trenton, 51 in wilmington. even in these cooler suburbs for now it looks like the temperatures are high enough where you're not going to get any of that drizzle or water droplets related to any fog freezing up on road surfaces so you should be okay that way. your big issue is going to be visibility. 53 degrees in millville, 44 in cape may. there you see the clouds building in from yesterday and still there right now. it doesn't look like there's hemorrhage much of a break out to the west and we still have some precipitation up in new york state but we actual are expecting the sunshine to break back through as we go through the morning and into the afternoon. today's forecast overall, mild. 52 degrees by 8 o'clock. still dealing with some fog in some spots. by 10 o'clock the fog should be breaking and after that we expect the return of a decent amount of sunshine. a noon temperature of 61. and by 3 o'clock, we're going to go for a high of 70. if we hit that, it will tie the existing record in philadelphia set all the way back in 1939. even by 6 o'clock tonight, it's a pretty nice pattern for you and this unfortunately is a different graphic but shows you what we were doing yesterday so if you want to just kind of look back and say, yeah , it was cloudy and a little cool. all right. then we go into the tale of two seasons. out in the west coast area right now it's cold with a trough and a jet stream. actually have freeze warnings out in california but as you move to the east, big ridge of high pressure in place. this is a real powerful ridge that's going to be with us for a couple days and that flow around it is going to grab onto really warm air from places like saint louis atlanta and raleigh, bring it up into our neck of the woods and we'll wind up with temperatures next couple of days roughly 25 degrees above average. in fact, future tracker6 tomorrow shows you starting out in the 40's -- excuse me, 50's and then winding up in the 70's tomorrow and i'm actually going for a high of 73 tomorrow, which would be a record in philadelphia. so, 70 is today's high. temperature absolutely zooming. worked get some sunshine back in play once we dump the morning fog and clouds. record warmth tomorrow with a high of 73. the old record 72 set back in 1930, a couple of real old records getting touched the next couple days. thursday we're back to cooler and more damp conditions with rain arriving during the day, 49 the high and on friday periods of rain, cloudy skies and 48 degrees the high there. then we get back up into the 60's for the weekend. looks like 61-degree highs on saturday. and again, on sunday,. and on saturday we are looking at some afternoon rain moving in and there might be a little bit more of that spilling in for parts of sunday. there's a chance most of it is over in the morning but we'll see the area so you're going to want to slow it down as you head out right now. we're looking live at the schuylkill expressway here near the boulevard. no other problems. just lots of low clouds out there as you're heading out so be careful for that right now. we do still have construction on the schuylkill near south street blocking a lane in either direction. this is upper moreland and easton road is closed between mill road and the pennsylvania turnpike. it's an accident involving a pedestrian. we're hearing there are injuries on the scene so you'll see ems workers on the scene here in upper moreland so watch for this. stick to york road or moreland road as your alternate because easton road is shut down and with poor and visibility kind of hard to see pedestrians and construction workers out there so make sure you slow it down. we're looking outside live at 422 and this particular shot fog not looking as bad right now. no extra overnight construction. this is a live look towards trooper. that's your eastbound traffic heading towards king of prussia and moving fine through the region. let's look at the visibility reports with the fog just 310ths of a mile in allentown philadelphia lancaster and reading so you can see really poor visibility out there. the fog causing a problem in millville, 1.3-mile visibility. so be careful as you head out certainly if you're flying out you want to call ahead with problems like that at the airport as well. certainly we're mild, though. 42 degrees in quakertown. the upper 40's already in center city. it's 55 in hammonton and it's already 56 degrees in dover, delaware. and we're going up from there topping off at 70, matt. >> thank you, karen. three workers are back on the ground after dangling off the side of a highrise in jacksonville, florida. one of the workersers was hanging from a harness yesterday. another was stranded in scaffolding that was heavily tilted on the side of the building. firefighters secured an anchor and pulled all three workers to the roof. >> a massive tree crashed through a family's home in north carolina. the force of the impact flattened part of the house and sheared off a section of the roof. a family of three was inside when the tree fell early yesterday morning in charlotte. they were able to escape by crawling out of a window. many of their belongings were damaged boston university found drinking even one sugary drink every day is linked to reduced fertility again to both sexes. soda consumption was linked to a 20 percent lower average monthly probability of
