Weve added the Maurice River near vineland, these areas and some of the tributaries running high, maybe some flooded roads here and about an hour ago they added the Great Egg Harbor River in Atlantic County so again tributaries areas around these water beds could be running a little bit high and you dont want to drive through any flooded conditions, okay. The Delaware Valley is seeing a surge right now and federal officials warn the peak of the season could still be several weeks away. Reporter yeah, tam, it seems like its hitting everyone and its particularly bad this year. The nationwide flu outbreak is among the worst on record in the Delaware Valley. Last week was brutal and Health Officials are conceding that they really cant predict when this flu epidemic will end. The number of flu cases being reported are increasingly alarming. The h3n2 strain also known as type a is especially packing a punch this year. Fevers, chills, a lot of coughing, sometimes nausea vomiting diarrhea. Montgomery county has seen 2100 cases since october 1st, the highest in the commonwealth. Delaware broke a record with 995 cases reported just last week. That includes six deaths. New jersey almost doubled the number of flu cases last week with over 2,000. That compares to the 4700 cases it saw the previous three weeks. You can get the flu still with the flu vaccine. This year one of the strains had mutated so it was not a hundred percent effective. Reporter to help avoid getting the flu doctors suggest following a few steps including washing your hands avoiding other people. If youre sick and if you have a fever or cough stay home. If you are around people who have had the flu or youre worried about being contagious make sure you wipe down all surfaces, especially in places where youre working. The road was closed to traffic for hours due to the investigation. And the search goes on for three armed kidnappers who bound and burned a man in olney. Action news broke the story yesterday morning. Philadelphia police say the suspects were driving around with the 34yearold victim for hours and they were texting the mans family demanding 10,000. The ordeal came to an end on the 5400 block of westford road. The suspects reportedly poured gasoline on the victim and set him on fire. He survived suffering second and third degree burns to half his body. Police do not think this victim was picked at random. 5 36 now. Happening today, convicted new york bomber Ahmed Khan Rahimi has a sentencing hearing. Rahimi set off small Pressure Cooker bombs on a new york city street and a Seaside Heights charity race. The bombings left 31 people wounded. Rahimi faces life in prison. Philadelphia schools are changing the way that lunch is delivered to your children. The district will replace all styrofoam with biodegradeable round plates. Middle and High School Students will see the change over the next three months. Now, we will have to trade off that mild air for a lot of clouds so mostly cloudy and mild, 52 but this rain that you see on the model probably is not going to come in until the evening hours.
