Temperature in philadelphia, 15 allentown, 15 reading, 16 trenton, 17 wilmington, 18 in millville and if we didnt have any wind this would be cold enough but unfortunately there is a breeze building across the region and thats giving you single digit wind chills. Again its been a little while since weve seen this so get ready for it. 4 degrees is what it feels like in philadelphia, eight in allentown and generally speaking this morning were looking at wind chills ranging between about three and nine or 10. We hit 13 in cape may but its an outlier. By 1 oclock were up to the freezing mark. 34 on this model by 3 oclock. Im going for a high of 35 and in addition you still have 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour winds today and thats going to keep those wind chills in play all day. Well be in the teens by about 9 oclock and this afternoon look for wind chills making it feel like its in the mid20s. And look up this morning. Weve got a very nice lunar trifecta under way. This is the first time weve seen this three moon set in north america in over 150 years. Its a supermoon this morning because this is when the moon is closest in orbit to the earth its a blue moon kind of a technicality but its the second full moon of the month but also a blood moon. We have a total Lunar Eclipse in the western united states. In the east you might see shading on the edge of the moon after about 10 minutes to 6 00. Karen we have another round of precip coming for thursday night. Details on that coming up. If it only happens once in a blue moon you can expects it to happen today. I know this is really hard to see but the ramp from 100 southbound to 202 southbound just reopened. That was a spot where we had that big accident with the tractortrailer and it has since cleared so we are looking at a dark scene there but traffic is going to move through any minute now. This is 309 at mclaughlin road. An accident in Montgomery County to Montgomery Township so a couple accidents out there this morning. On the big picture though no major issues on the blue route, schuylkill, i95. Pretty good shape right here. We had a disabled vehicle in ardmore. It just cleared. Traffic there is moving a little better. Lets go outside live on the schuylkill expressway. This is at the vine street expressway eastbound traffic is reopened. It was shut down overnight with construction but no problems right now. Watching for a slick spot or two but not seeing any major issues, schrat good to matt. Good to hear. Eagles coach Doug Pederson celebrating a milestone birthday today while holding the birds first super bowl practice. Jaime apody and Ducis Rodgers are in emergency rooming ton minnesota with a preview. Reporter good morning from minneapolis. Things are about to ramp up here for the super bowl for both teams. For the eagles theyll take the practice field for the First Time Since arriving here in the twin cities area a couple of days ago. I think it will feel good for them because it will bring a sense of normalcy. Theyll put on the uniform, put on the pads and go over the game plan. Today is the big day for another reason. Reporter why . Its Doug Pedersons 50th birthday. Thats right the bigfive oh. We reminded him of that yesterday. I asked him what he wants as a gift. This is what we work for. This is what we do otas for. Its one thing to be excited to be here but we understand that its unfinished business. Reporter happy birthday coach. We have two numbers we need to worry about. Fiftyfirst birthday and 52 for sure 52 for super bowl lii. Thanks guys. When the eagles won the nfc championship crowds ran out into the streets giving the city a little taste of the giant celebrations that can be expected if sunday goes our way. Police commissioner richard ross says he wants you to have fun but his department is ready if things get out of hand. Action News Reporter Jeanette Reyes is live with details on the security plans. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, tam. Police will be out in full force for what we can expect on sunday night. But the Police Commissioner is saying he wont be using a certain slippery substance that made National Headlines a couple of weeks ago but he does say he has something even better. We will not let you tear up the city. Reporter with the super bowl almost upon us Police Commissioner richard ross made clear that violence and destruction of property will not be tolerated sunday night. Clearly assaults, destruction of property will be dealt with swiftly. Well move in, well handle those situations. We will not tolerate there throughout this city. Reporter when the eagles beat the vikings two weeks ago, crowds of over 10,000 people swarmed northeast philadelphia and center city. Much larger numbers are expected if the eagles win the super bowl. Police suggest motorists stay clear of center city because of the crowds that will swarm south broad, city hall and frankford and cottman, for example. He says massive deployments of uniformed officers and plainclothes personnel will be out at the various traditional spots but one tradition that will not be making a return is greasing up light poles with crisco to deter climbers. Commissioner ross would only say police have something slicker up their sleeves. We will be ready. We will be out there with a sizable contingent of officers that will be seen by most and we will make every effort to know that, you know, we are about business but we are still about the business of allowing people to celebrate as long as its done peaceful ly. Reporter and we do have to pat ourselves on the back a little bit. Last time a couple weeks ago when we beat the vikings there were only six areas rests all day including tailgaters. Hopefully we get a repeat or fewer arrests this time around although i dont think anybody can predict what will happen come sunday night. Reporting live in center city, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Tam. It will be good to find out the answer to the question. Were looking to are ward to that. Thank you jeanette. President donald trump delivered an emotionally charged state of the Union Address promising a new era of prosperity. This in fact is our new american moment. There has never been a better time to start living the American Dream. The president focused his speech on the economy and his legislative victory on tax reform. He also touched upon infrastructure Opioid Crisis and announcing a executive order to keep open guantanamo bay. Trump called for congress to come together on immigration. My duty is to defend americans, to protect their safety, their families, their communities and their right to the American Dream because americans are dreamers, too. During the democratic response, representative joe kennedy said the Trump Administration isnt just targeting the laws that protect us, they are targeting the very idea that were all worthy of protection. 5 38 now. Its colder here than it is in minneapolis. Yeah. Minneapolis actually has a slightly milder day today, so if you want to travel out to the super bowl today is the day to do it. After that were talking a high of 31 or something but its actually the mildest day. Warm for them and its going to get colder too. Were dry at least this morning arent the winds did a pretty good job of drying out roads and sidewalks this morning. Want to be a little careful if something looks wet its certainly frozen. As we take a look outside, we have the moon, and there it is, the trifecta special moon. Right now the little shading on the side that we might get later is not evident but keep your eyes on this over the next 20, 30 minutes because theres a total Lunar Eclipse happening on the west coast and here we might just see a little shading on the side of the moon, probably will later on this morning but right now that big moon out there closest in its orbit as it is in its entire orbit right now to the earth and also weve got that lunar thing going on. Its the second full moon of the month, too, so a lot of special things astronomically going out there. 18 degrees is your temperature. Winds northwest at 14 giving you a wind chill of four. These temperatures arent really the whole story. Everybody is pretty much in the single digit wind chill territory right now and a temperature in philadelphia at 18, just 15 in allentown and reading, 18 in millville and 22 in cape may. Cold this morning. Colder than its been in a little while. Sunshine a plenty to start out but then were going to see clouds dig in as we go later into the morning especially the afternoon and it stays cold today. Brisk, too, with that wind 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour. So, temperatures 21 degrees by 8 oclock. 26 by 10 oclock. Probably breaking into the 30s by noon and a high around 35 at 3 oclock. But the wind chills will make it feel like its in the teens in through here and probably the low to mid20s later this afternoon. Its going to be cold all the way. And high temperatures across the region not much of a split really between allentown and the shore. Were at 33 degrees this afternoon in allentown, 34 in trenton and reading. 35 elsewhere on the i95 corridor and 37s as we head down to cape may through millville. Temps as we roll through the day, 35 degrees by about 2, 3 oclock and then falling from there. Tomorrow we are going to be a little bit milder. A high of 47 with a front coming in from the west. Well have mostly cloudy skies and late in the day and evening, there is the chance of a little bit of light rain. Overnight this pops in during the Early Morning commute, gets off the coast pretty quickly. Some models are changing this over to snow right at the tail end so you might wind up early tomorrow morning seeing a little change from rain to snow. Out in minneapolis 31 today but only seven tomorrow. 16 on friday. Saturday some snow possible, 13 and then behind that front, sunday sunny but 7 degrees in the parking lot as our eagles fans are tailgating ahead of the super bowl. 35 degrees brisk and cold today around here. Bundle up all the way. And then thursday mostly cloudy, a better high of 47 degrees with that little light rain coming in at night and extending into friday morning. Friday may be a brief changeover to snow. Hey, its ground hog day. Out in punxsutawney with a little bit of rain or snow falling. 33 degrees is your high blustery and colder. Still brisk and cold on saturday with a high of 35 and maybe a brief snow shower at night, probably not a big deal. Sunday we are really keeping a close eye on this at this point. We are looking at cloudy skies for the most part on super bowl sunday here, a high of 39 degrees which doesnt sound too bad but there will be some rain likely developing during the day and as temperatures fall it could change over to snow and we have a little bit of a concern that roads could become slippery on sunday night, maybe before the end of the super bowl and super bowl parties. So something to keep in mind as youre making your plans. When we come in in the morning thats one of the two days where its really busy traffic, like 2 00 a. M. Yeah, yeah. I know what you mean. You got all that look forward to. Looking outside live at route 100 at 113. Its a pretty good ride in. Watching for a slick spot or two here in lionville Chester County. Not seeing much but maybe a little shine on the road in your turns and just be careful as youre heading off to your secondary streets ramps and overpasses. We had a big accident involving a tractortrailer in west goshen township here and it had shut down the ramp from 100 southbound to 202 but that has since reopened so traffic is moving a little bit better. We had an accident here on 309 and that cleared as well so traffics moving better here at mclaughlin road. Quite a bit colder than yesterday morning. Look at these numbers. Its only 13 degrees in quakertown. 12 in kutztown, 14 in pottstown, 16 in malvern, 18 degrees in center city. How about the suburbs in new jersey and delaware . Yup, still in the teens. 16 is a popular number in hammonton and glassboro, 18 degrees in smyrna. When you factor in a little bit of wind feels like the single digits. Feels like only 4 degrees right now in the city so put the heavy coat on, the gloves and head out to work, tam. Whatwhat can you do . Starting you out with wind chills this morning as these are the numbers that count the most. 4 degrees is what it feels like in philadelphia right now, eight in the allentown area, five in reading and wilmington and trenton, seven in millville so a lot colder this morning than its been in recent mornings. I know weve seen this before earlier this year but we still need to make sure that we bundle up and Pay Attention to that. Temperatures right now are 18 degrees in philadelphia, 15 in allentown, 17 in wilmington and in trenton as well.
