And the alert we have in place really the focal point is tonight and in through wednesday morning. Lets go ahead and take you to the Weather Center and theres a Winter Weather advisory in effect today, gradually going into effect in the poconos and then down toward the far northern suburbs and then later this afternoon starting to kick in in these counties closer to philadelphia, northern and western Chester County and the northern halves of Montgomery County and bucks county. This is where most of our snow is going to arrive. It will be a light snow but travel conditions in these areas later today and tonight as it starts to build in will be the worst that well see across the region. 30 degrees currently in philadelphia, not nearly as cold this morning. 27 degrees in trenton. 28 in allentown, 29 in reading and millville and 27 in cape may. And theres a little bit of a wind out there but not a big wind. So, were talking a wind chill in philadelphia, 22 degrees. Winds down overnight from where they were yesterday. As we take a look at temperatures today, starting out at about 30 and winding up with a high in philadelphia of 42 degrees right around 3 oclock this afternoon. So the snow will not be able to encounter and punch into this drier milder air right away. Later on in the evening hours and overnight we do expect it to be more of a factor and again wind chills are way up high probably making it feel like its in the upper 30s, only about 5 degrees below the temperature. In terms of the snow were looking at cloud cover getting thicker later 13 and early this evening the snow may start to punch down towards berks county and allentown and then you can see how later tonight and overnight into wednesday morning it sweeps on through the region. Karen well talk about how much were expecting and a little more on the timing of this and what comes next in the exclusive accuweather 7day. All right, dave, starting live on the schuylkill where were dry right now and light volume but we do have problems and its at the schuylkill at south street where weve got that eastbound construction blocking all lanes. Westbound you see the cones set such with the left lane being blocked so watch for that construction on the schuylkill not causing too many issues but you need to watch out, its still closed eastbound there at south street. We do have an accident here thats on preston road right at hauls lane in springfield township in Montgomery County. Look for crews on the scene with that. Talking about the ice jam and the problems were seeing relating to flooding in this area here in morrisville bucks county. River road is shut down between black rock road and calhoun street bridge. We continue in trenton to have 29 southbound the offramp to calhoun street closed so watch for those areas that are getting the ice jam and flooding out there even though were dry right now, thats 42 northbound traffic coming up from turnersville or deptford, were moving pretty good at this point, matt and tam. Thank you, karen. The bottom line flooding fears are easing but not over. The ice jam thawed enough in trenton allowing the river level to slowly fall back down last night. The formation has yet to damage any homes while homeowners and local officials are watching the water because the weather is expected to warm up. That brings concerns that rising temperatures could set off new rounds of flooding like yesterday blocking route 29 which runs along the river in new jersey. Ive never seen it solid pack before. Its not moving at all. Thats a wall and the water level is usually 15, 20 feet below that. Trenton water works customers are still under a boil water advisory due to a Treatment Plant malfunction earlier this week. Breaking news now. A man is dead, the victim of a drive by shooting. It involved a homeless mans feet. Also ahead a new York City Police officer is sent tumbling while taking on a driver who was doing burnouts. And winter wallop. Tens of millions of people are caught in the path of snow and ice. David. Were getting a brush of snow late today and tonight starting in the northern and western suburbs. Right now the temperatures are on the cool side ahead of all of this but up to about 30 degrees in philadelphia and in the city itself, it may be later tonight before that snow can make it all the way down toward i95. Well give you were the latest projections from accuweather including those forecast snow fall amounts. Thats coming up. From texas to maine, 80 Million People are feeling old man winters wrath. 20inches of snow piled up here in parts of wisconsin. Im so glad we dont live there and more snow is on the way. And our friends at Good Morning America are also on the weather watch covering winters punch from north to south. Gma will have more on that coming up at 7 00 a. M. Thats the way it works around here. We show you where its worse than here, then we tell you whats going to happen here. You should feel better. Its not going to be as bad here as it was out there. Storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows you that we are mainly dry locally. If i give you that two dimensional view on Storm Tracker there are light snow showers and flurries beginning to pop in around harrisburg and pottsville and this is going to be a very slow progression. The first place locally youll see some snow is in berks county and the Lehigh Valley and its going to be very slow as it tries to push in later in the afternoon hours. There is a Winter Weather advisory in northern and western suburbs but it actually doesnt kick in until 4 oclock in northern bucks northern montco and northwestern Chester County. Its not up for philadelphia. By the time this stuff gets here it starts out with maybe a little rain and then changes over to light snow overnight. As we take a look outside we have sky6. Lots of clouds in place ahead of that arriving precipitation. Center city looking fairly gray above. 30 degrees right now in philadelphia. The dewpoint down there at 24. Winds out of the east at nine and the wind chill currently making it feel like its 22 degrees. Not as bad as the last couple of mornings. 30 in philadelphia. 27 currently in trenton. 28 in allentown, 29 in wilmington and 29 in millville, new jersey. As we take a look, we still have that Flood Warning in effect along the Delaware River from trenton up through morrisville and yardley. Still want to be careful of ice jam on the river causing minor flooding on some adjacent roadways. The precipitation looks like its going to be slow and coming. As we go through the afternoon hours and into the early evening models still have this having trouble pushing down toward allentown and reading but i would allow for something to be happening during the Late Afternoon hours and early evening. Its really overnight that this starts to push through. By 5 oclock in the morning we might still be looking at rain in south jersey but it does look like there will be snow for the morning commute and then that passes through by 9 oclock, starts to lighten up a little bit and gets out of here by about lunchtime, early afternoon to the north and west of philadelphia or north and east of the city i should say. And what are we looking at . Well, this would be about a one to 2inch snowfall in the i95 corridor in all likelihood very quickly dropping off to just a coating to an inch. Some of you down the shore hardly getting anything. But as you step up into the northern suburbs we could see as much as two to 4 inches on the ground and that cutoff will be somewhere roughly between Lansdale Doylestown up to quakertown Lehigh Valley and reading. European model for philadelphia is showing pretty much that one to two idea, 2. 3 on the euro. The nam has less than an inch. Its not going to be a major snowfall in philadelphia. The latest for allentown and the Lehigh Valley show higher numbers somewhere in that two to four range does seem likely. The accuweather 7day forecast, were going for a high today of 42 degrees, so obviously well be not exactly setting the table for snow. Its been cold for awhile recently but we are going to be up above the freezing mark for a good portion of the afternoon. So, as that snow tries to punch in, it probably starts out in the northern and western suburbs and then its later tonight that the temperatures drop and we get it overnight in through here. There will be morning snow around tapering off, maybe some late day sunshine. I would plan on somewhat slippery roads overnight and into wednesday morning. 35s the high there. Then on thursday, 37 degrees and we are back to the sun but its still kind of brisk and cold. On friday, 43, though, and then by saturday, more clouds but milder conditions, a high of 49. And the eagles game really looks good. There may be a lot of clouds. Yesterday we were talking about maybe a shower in the evening. Were pushing that back into monday now so for now it looks like the eagles are dry with an afternoon high of 54 for tailgating. Yay probably in the 40s during the game but really nice. Bonus. Thank you david. New this morning, the search continues for the driver who struck a new York City Police officer in times square. Cell phone video shows a black mercedes driving down the street doing burnouts on saturday night. An officer steps in in front of the car to try to stop it but the driver speeds away knocking the officer to the ground. The injured officer suffered minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. A chicago man is getting a lot of attention for an incredible act of kindness. Maurice anderson was on the train when he noticed one of the homeless mans shoes was off and his foot was bleeding. Anderson told him his feet may have been frost bitten. We without hesitation he unlaced his brand new boots and handed them over to the man. He was already in distress. If im not reaching down to somebody i cant say anything.
