Meantime the white house is distancing itself from this indictment as well as a plea agreement involving a former Trump Campaign official. Paul manafort the former trump Campaign Chairman surrendered to their fbi this morning following the indictment against him and his business associate and former Trump Deputy Campaign manager rick gates. The 31 page indictment represents the first charges filed against anyone by special counsel robert mueller. The 12 counts include conspiracy against the United States, false statements and conspiracy to launder money through hidden bank accounts. In total more than 75 million allegedly flowed through off shore accounts. Todays announcement has nothing to do with the president , has nothing to do with the president s campaign or campaign activities. Reporter in another indictment unsealed today, George Papadopoulos an early Foreign Policy adviser to the Trump Campaign pled guilty to lying to federal agents about his interactions with russian agents. The indictment alleges he told at least three Senior Campaign officials that the russians had thousands of emails damaging to hillary clinton. Hes now cooperating with the government. White house spokesperson sara sanders was asked to detail papadopoulos role in the Trump Campaign. It was extremely limited. It was a volunteer position. And again, no activity was ever done in an official capacity. Reporter manafort was fired from his post as head of the Campaign Following revelations about financial ties to the russian backed government in ukraine. Following todays hearing, manaforts attorney called the allegations ridiculous. Well, i think you i was saw it today. That President Donald Trump was correct. There is no evidence that mr. Manafort or the Trump Campaign colluded with the russian government. Reporter now, both manafort and gates were released to home confinement. They were forced to surrender their passports. Manaforts bail was set at 10 million. Gates at 5 million. Gates Attorney Says he welcomes the opportunity to confront these charges in court. He adds, the fight is just beginning. Reporter rick investigators here in Delaware County have identified nearly a half dozen victims but they worry that number could explode and they want viewers to take a close look at michael cripps. Michael cripps is charged with sexually assaulting five children dating back to 2012. Some as young as five years old. Cripps hid his face as he was taken to jail. Considering the allegations you cant show your face. Reporter cripps responded with a string of expletives too graphic for broadcast. But they pale in comparison to the alleged rapes in court records. Authorities say the method of operation was the same in every case. Cripps would meet women with boys, start a relationship with the mother, then allegedly sexually abuse the children. Make no mistake, this is a very serious child predator. Reporter Authorities Say cripps advertised a costume business on social media sites like facebook but theres no indication he met any victims through that company. There are several photos of cripps with young boys. Detectives are working to track the children down. Were very concerned that were just at the tip of the iceberg here in Delaware County. Reporter Delaware CountyDistrict Attorney jack whelan says cripps lived in 17 residences over the years, all throughout Delaware County. Whelan says one adult in his 20s recently came forward after hearing about other victims and said he, too, was abused by cripps. He was able to detail numerous sexual encounters. Reporter . He shot another man he knew at this used auto lot. A New Castle County grand jury indicted prince today. Hell be prosecuted first in delaware and then in Hartford County maryland. 57yearold Gerald Picerno of morristown new jersey has been charged with indecent exposure. Police say on september 15th and 16th, female students in their 20s reported separate incidents in and around the university. Picerno was eventually caught with fingerprints and an image from the university surveillance camera. He was charged and ordered to have no contact with the university.
