"action news" reporter jeanette reyes is live on the 100 block of west 37th street and jeanette, you just spoke with the victim's daughter. >> reporter: yeah, tam, it's a heartbreaking story here. the husband went to go inside to get his wife of 30 years. as you mentioned he didn't know she had already gotten out and he got trapped inside of the home and later died at the hospital. take a live look behind me. this is their home of 30 years. you can see all of this blackened because of the flames that tore through the home around midnight last night. this happened along the 100 block of 37th street here in wilmington, west 37th street. nearly 40 firefighters arrived on scene and were met with intense flames at the front door. they were told that that man was trapped insider they extinguished much of the fire. firefighters did a search of the home and found the man inside. paramedics immediately began working on him and he was transported to christiana hospital in critical condition. he would later be pronounced dead. now, his wife was also taken to the hospital in critical condition with injuries she suffered while trying to escape the burning home. we understand she jumped out of the second floor into the arms of a neighbor waiting down below. we talked to that woman's daughter. she shared with me the moment neighbors banged on her home telling her her mother's home was on fire. >> the flames were going and the fire trucks were pulling up actually. you know, like, i didn't know where my mom was. i was running up the street yelling where is my mom and the neighbor across the street says she's here, she's here. >> reporter: how did it feel hearing that. >> that felt amazing. same time i was trying to think where my step dad was and someone said he ran back in to get your mom. he ran back in to get your mom. >> reporter: and there was a third person injured. that's the neighbor that caught or tried to catch that woman. but other than that, one fatality, this morning we understand the fire marshal is on scene here trying to investigate what was the cause of this fire. reporting live in wilmington, jeanette reyes, channel6 "action news." tam. >> jeanette, thank you for that. and also in wilmington, a shooting victim is now in serious condition. police say a man in his 30's was shot in the chest along the 2500 block of zebley place late last night. the crime scene unit is on that scene gathering evidence. >> we're getting our first look at the florida keys in the aftermath of hurricane irma. it struck the island chain as a category four storm on monday and days later there's still no power, no water, no cell service. irma cut a vicious path of destruction across the florida peninsula and is responsible for 10 deaths in florida, georgia and south carolina. "action news" reporter katherine scott is lie in the satellite center. for those who are allowed to return today could be the first day of a lengthy cleanup. >> reporter: that's right, matt. the cleanup is just beginning. the death toll is rising. irma has been downgraded to a tropical depression. it's still expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds. trees down, severe flooding, millions without power after irma barreled through the southeast expected to turn toward alabama and then into western tennessee. thousands in savannah, georgia, were ordered to evacuate. 4 feet of water flowed through downtown charleston, south carolina, after already battering parts of the caribbean, cuba and florida. boats were deployed in jacksonville to rescue residents in the record storm surge. the storm has now moved past florida but the cleanup there is just beginning. the full destruction has yet to be assessed. thousands remain in shelters. tempers flared in the florida keys as homeowners were prevented entry by authorities who say it's not safe to return if i talked to the sheriff who lives across the street. everything is fine. there's just a bunch of baloney. >> reporter: the engineer who was at the controls during that deadly amtrak derailment is due in court for a preliminary hearing. brandon bostian's lawyers want the claim dismissal. they claim the unusual circumstances of his arrest violated bostian's due process rights. that's because the philadelphia district attorney had originally declined to file charges but then a judge ordered the case to move forward when one of the victim's families filed a criminal complaint. bostian faces eight counts officer involuntary murder. eight people were killed and 200 more were injured. >> funeral services will be held this morning for villanova coaching legend rollie massimino. the mass takes place at saint thomas of villanova church on campus. friends and family attended a viewing there last night. >> time now to turn to dave murphy. yesterday was nice and today sounds like it will be a little warmer. >> yeah, a little warmer, just a tad and a little cloudier, too, but we don't care. it's not going to rain it's going to be a good day overall. we are dry, a couple of hints of shower activity on the other side of gettysburg and baltimore. that's going to fall apart before it gets here today. taking a look outside we have sky6, dry conditions across the region right now. commodore barry bridge and a little bit of cloud cover upstairs but we do expect some sunshine to break through at mes this morning and probably clouds up a little bit more later today and tonight. 62 degrees is your current temperature so not as cool as it was yesterday when we were in the mid-50's in philadelphia. winds are calm which always helps that comfort factor when it's a little on the cool side and the ocean temperature is 70 although there is a high risk of rip currents at the shore today, so once again not a good idea to get into the water. there's the cloud cover. you can see it sweeping in. a lot of this is high and thin enough where i think some sunshine breaks through and you might see a break of blue at times today. showers down to the south and west not an issue for us today. today's forecast overall not bad. 60 degrees by 8 o'clock, 68 and comfortable by 10:00 a.m. in case you're out there toiling away and then by noon, 76 degrees and by 3 o'clock 81. that's going to be your high this afternoon. not all that humid and fairly cloudy with some sunny breaks. 77 by 6 o'clock. high temperatures across the region looks like we'll get up to about 79 in allentown and trenton. 80 in reading and wilmington. 81 in philadelphia. 78 in millville and down the shore 72 in cape may. 73 on the boardwalk in atlantic city. nice enough on the beach but stay out of the water with a high rip current risk that's thanks to josé churning down in the caribbean. for the phillies tonight, they're back home against the marlins. lots of clouds out there overall, maybe some breaks. 74 for the first pitch and about 67 in the ninth inning. then we take a wide view on satellite and you can see what's left of tropical storm irma which is now a tropical depn extra tropical low really falling apart having less and less pattern to it and that wraparound moisture staying to our south today. just a little bit clips us tomorrow. future tracker6 shows us that on wednesday in the morning we're likely dry but during the afternoon there is the chance of a spotty shower popping through. a little brief downpour isn't out of the question but most of are you going to see a dry day for most of the day. hurricane josé still a category one hurricane causing those rip currents along the east coast. still looks like it's going to do that curly q over the next 24 hours and then by saturday and sunday night as a category one starts to spin up in our direction more or less but where exactly the storm goes is very much in doubt. we still got some runs that want it to go down into florida, some take it up to bermuda. i think the most likely path is up the east coast and hopefully off the coast giving us nothing more than rip currents and maybe a little beach erosion. yourlusive accuweather 7-day more clouds and warm 81 degrees. wednesday 79 degrees with clouds and sun and a spotty shower as you just saw out of irma. and then on thursday it starts to get more humid, a high of 78. there could be a shower there. and on friday humid with a couple of showers also possible and friday's high is going to be 78 degrees. for the weekend, 80 is your high on sat 79 on sunday. both days feature a spotty pop-up shower and then monday very likely clouds and sun, nothing worse, 77. sometime around back. >> ♪ >> welcome back. you're taking a live look here the ben franklin bridge. a nice cool, clear tuesday morning. it is 5:45 and 62 degrees. >> yet another day in pleasantville on the roads, karen. >> i'm getting a little bored. >> don't say that. >> not a big accident, just something interesting, you know what i mean. you probably don't like the traffic interesting when you're trying to get to work. this is plymouth meeting the blue route right here and you see traffic right there moving just fine northbound towards lansdale, no issues on the blue route as we look live approaching the mid-county tolls. once you get to lansdale we have this water main break so south broad street is closed between sumneytown pike and allentown road. you could stick to church road or valley forge road to get around the closure here in lansdale with a water main break this morning. we had some construction crews out here on the northeast extension. they have cleared. so northbound approaching lehigh valley looking good. speeds of 64 miles an hour. so, looking all right. hey, doesn't feel bad out there this morning, either. remember yesterday morning we were just in the 40's in lots of the suburbs. right now we're at 50 degrees in quakertown and pottstown and that's among the cool left spots on the map here other than lake harmony in the 40's. 56 in malvern. better than that in center city. 62 degrees. in new jersey, it's 54 in browns mills, it's 62 this morning in brigantine. not bad at all. 56 in glassboro and nearly 60 in dover delaware. today is going to be a bit warmer than
