Things have incredibly calmed down, from that point, in just the last five minutes. That is how quickly this storm is moving. Five minutes ago we could not see those trees behind me, and now as clear as day. Jason, come on out here survey some of the destruction. From what we have seen in just the last, couple of hours, of these incredible, wind speed, that building behind us is part of its roofies torn off. Jason, go ahead, look down. Those dumpsters on the ground were on the right side of this parking lot, they have shifted 15 to 20 feet to give you a sense of the strength of these winds, and boy these trees, every single one has suffered damage, brain muches down, and been thrown around like match sticks. There were period where it was unsafe for us to be outside and so we decided to give you a time line of irma by taking various point as long the way to give you a look at what it has been like to cover this. Here we are underneath the hotel, obviously that is our vehicle right here. Were in several inches of water right now. We are very well protect from the winds coming from an easterly direction right now, and you see how that has manifested it several inches of rain. Heres what happens when the wind swings in your direction and comes from the west side, off of the gulf of mexico bringing with it that storm surge, up to, 15 feet. We have tried to drive home the point to you that we are in what we feel is a very secure building. Made of cement, built in the early 80s and has withstood a lot of storms. The concern is this, these windows which are single payn ed glass and there is a lot of fear inside this building that as this storm advances the winds get stronger those windows could pop out and crack. We thought we would come outside and give you a sense as to what, the elements are like out here right now. Obviously wind is gusting significantly. We have gusts up to a hundred miles an hour or north of that right now, as the eye wall comes a shore, comes over us, we expect the most intense wind that we have seen so far, and then, blue skies sure to appear above us. It is late but hurricanes dont operate on human time they operate on their own clock. We have come back inside, backup stairs on this balcony where we are largely shielded, from the winds that are coming around the building but as jason just showed you these wins are incredibly intense gusting north of 120, 130 miles an hour right now. First one was this morning at 9 10 this morning with max sustained wind of 130 miles an hour, so it made land fall as category four in cudjoe key florida, in the lower florida keys. It has been 102 years since we had two, category four storms, within the United States. First one as you will remember , Hurricane Harvey that bolterd southeastern coast of texas. We had a second land fall this afternoon with irma in marco island and that was around 3 35 this afternoon. Heres Storm Tracker six live double scan radar 3d. You can see outer rain band with the storm affecting the east coast of florida, as well West Palm Beach, fort lauderdale, down to miami as well but focus on the on the western coast of florida and brian was talking about naples , and being in that eye. Once this eye, lifts to the north of naples, that is when you will get a pick up with the intensity of the winds and you also will get that moisture, backing up, and moving in from the southeasterly side of the storm, on the back side of this storm. So that is when we can expect that storm surge to increase and winds as well. Hurricane irma right now been downgraded to a category two because it is interacting with land. Wind right now 110 miles an hour moving north at 14 miles an hour. This is more than likely going to stay a category one hurricane as it moves across northern florida, eventually into georgia, as a Tropical Storm as we go throughout the rest of our week here. We will talk about the winds we have seen so far and marco island when it did make that land fall, we had winds gusting as high as 130 miles an hour, big pine key, 120 miles an hour winds. We were scared that we werent coming back. We had no idea, of what was going to happen next. We just heard irma keep beating and tearing down building we were in. It was really devastating. Reporter Michelle Butler barge and her husband were staying at the great bay resort and spa in saint martin when Mother Nature reared a category five hurricane on top of the tiny island. The philadelphia couple hotel room demolished by strong wind and left vulnerable as looters ravage what was left of the hotel. They were eventually rescued by National Guard and made it back to the states, days, after irma struck. At that time, we were just blessed, grateful, thank full, at that time. Everything was going through my mind, that we were going home. We were coming home. We were coming home to our home, to our family. We are going to get home, if not today or next week we will get home, and we have a home to go to and these people here, they have nothing. They lost everything. And now that family very lucky to be alive this evening right now they are not even thinking about themselves but those natives of that country many of whom lost everything this evening.
