Com a Philadelphia Police officer who killed a suspect in a controversial shooting is now suspended. Today the Police Commissioner announced the officer violated the Office Policy when he shot david jones in june. Chad pradelli is outside of Police Headquarters with the latest. Reporter yes, the officer was suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss. He was fired. Commissioner ross called this a complicated one, its a split second decision, and lives are at stake. Ryan use from the family but they expect a greater justice. I believe they completed half their job. He wait thiested that is it. The shooting happened on june 8th on whitaker and officer parnell stopped jones. He felt a gun in his waist band, and he pulled his gun and told the male not to move but the male kept reaching under his hoody and broke free from the officer and pulled the gun from his waist band. That pernell attempted to fire his weapon but it jammed. And he then ran off and then pernell cleared the jam, and fired two more times and hitting him. The first attempted shot justified but once jones ran away the 12 year veteran should have taken cover and assessed the situation. It shows jones clearly didnt have his weapon. And ross acknowledged that it appears that pernell believe that jones was armed. Just because you had an opportunity and had the right to fire at one point during and encounter doesnt mean you have the same right to do so flute throughout the encounter. Pernell shot another suspect but that did not play in the decision. And they are handling the decision and they had no comment and attempts to reach the officer were unsuccessful. Live outside, chad pradelli, channel 6 action news. All right chad thank you. Live with kelly and ryan just kicked off the first full season this week with rip and seacrest at the helm. If feels like we are having coffee and hanging out with friends. That is probably because they are friends and have been for 20 years with the mution you can feel. Ryan is someone i admired his entire career and such a hard has not lost his humanity. You know what i mean when i say that. She is so smart and quick and grateful and grash. A pairing they say is perfect and obvious. The two of them together is magic because you have two great broadcasters, bot different personalities and friendly. Quite the multitasker ryan can do the radio show there in new york. And when job as host of American Idol he will fry back and forth. I will not miss a show with her and fly back from the airport on the air in the same suit. Coffee and concealer. Deoderant and coffee. Deoderant you have to have that. And taking the live element beyond facebook and on air broadcasting on facebook after the show. And we did a Facebook Live from my own page and gelman took my phone and was filming it. It looks like you had a good time . I did. And i love that studio audience. Bring it on here. Thanks. How about a check of the accuweather forecast. Lets bring in cecily tynan. Keeping a close eye on irma. Lets head to the action news weather center. The satellite image of irma it remains a strong category five hurricane and the winds dropped 10 Miles Per Hour because it is acting with the Dominican Republic. Category five starts at 150 Miles Per Hour. If we had a category six this would be one. The pressure now is 922 millibars and that is low, and when you have a strong hurricane with low pressure, it acts like a straw and pulls up the water and that creates the tremendous wind surge moving west northwest at 16 Miles Per Hour. And maximum gusts 215 Miles Per Hour. And we have hurricane katia and hurricane jose if the atlantic basin. Very active that is pretty typical if you look at when tropical season spikes, september 10th, and that is sunday. That is potentially when irma will make the first of two possible landfalls in the u. S. And the spaghetti plots, they are the individual computer models. The remarkable consensus is rolling up eastern florida and rolling up miami first and making a second landfall in savannah or hilton head. This will likely be the worst damage and even worse than hurricane andrew in 1992, the storm surge the winds will make many places, and homes uninhabitable. And escape routes will likely be washed out and people are running out of time to evacuate. Back at home a beautiful day. 73 in philadelphia and allentown 71 and cape may 72 and wilmington 70.
