closer. it is thursday night and the big story on "action news" tonight is a possible break in this philadelphia murder mystery. lawmen say they have found the victims' laptop computer. "action news" reporter sharee williams is live at police headquarters, sharee what are the details here. >> reporter: jim it's day four in this investigation and detectives are hot on the trail with this one. not only did they recover her stolen laptop built right now as we speak we're being told here at headquarters three people are being questioned. >> it's an on investigation and we're still continuing to work it very, very hard. >> philadelphia police are pushing hard to find out who killed 85-year-old regina prunner holmes. "action news" learned three people are being questioned by the homicide unit. holmes was found monday inside east mt. airy home beaten stabbed and with her throat slit. police believe robbery was the motive. philadelphia police commissioner charles ramsey says the investigation is moving strongly in the right direction. >> homicide is making progress. and hopefully we'll be able to bring it to a conclusion by finding the person or persons responsible for such a horrific crime. >> and today new developments. investigators executed search warrants at two locations. on the 6600 block of north bovier police entererd a home and sources tell "action news" detectives retrieved a laptop that belongs to the 8 a5-year-old murder victim. police also searched this north philadelphia home on the 31 0 0 block of stillman the same block they found holmes' stolen car abandoned. police say they are closer and won't let up. >> we have leads and the homicide investigators have been working this around the clock. >> reporter: so no charges filed yet. but the work around the clock it continues tonight and at this point again we want to let you know detectives are at this point questioning three people right here at headquarters as we speak. i also spoke with the captain of homicide and as far as today's developments he called them "significant progress. live at headquarters sharee williams "channel 6 action news." jim. >> thank you sharee a man was killed tonight when he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree in northeast philadelphia. chopper6hd flew over the scene roosevelt boulevard near conwell avenue laes than township hours going the man was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash. >> firefighters remain on the scene of two alarm blazes in fullcovt delaware county and flames broke out inside an industrial building that house as i beauty supply office and pr finishing. part of the roof collapsed and there was concern about possibly hazardous materials inside. fortunately nobody has been hurt. we're waiting to find out what sparked the blaze. >> well, today was wet and gloomy and the long holiday weekend kicks off tomorrow with a bright start. the question is will it last? meteorologist cecily tynan joins us at the big board with the accuweather forecast, cecily. >> jim it won't last. you been fortunately the whole weekend will not be dry and i'm tracking showers on saturday. but it will be warmer than today. today's high in philadelphia a measly 77 degrees that's 9 degrees below normal and over the past five years this is only the 6th day in july when temperatures have not climbed out of the 70s. so this was unusually cool and on the damp side. satellite 6 and action radar showing we had the clouds and 11:00 you see heavy rain across the jersey and delaware shore. parts of cape may county inch and a half of rain caused localized flooding and good news you can see how that low pressure is pulling away from us. clouds backing up. the problem, though is that this boundary continues to just stall to the south. another wave will be developing and moving in on saturday. but until then high pressure will nudge down from the north. that will bring us return of sunshine and with that tomorrow temperatures will respond accordingly. we'll get out of the 70s. 82 degrees we 3bg in philadelphia. so a fairly nice day with more sunshine to the north. and more cloud cover south. so ranking three days this weekend i'm going with a tie between tomorrow and sunday. sunday will be warmer. tomorrow a pretty nice day. the problem day will be the fourth on saturday with clouds and showers. i really don't think it is a washout. i'll talk about timing and also have the shore and poconos in the full accuweather forecast, jim. >> thank you cecily. >> a philadelphia police officer accused of assaulting his girlfriend has turned himself in. michael alice has been charmed with simple assault, false imprisonment and contempt. alice's girlfriend said the two had a fight may 24 and turned physical. alice is twelve year veteran of the department and was dus send suspended for 30 days with intent to dismiss. >> the philadelphia police department will announce officers involved in shootings. it reverses a decision of departmental policy. until now the department refused to release the names of officers involved in shootings. citing safety concerns. under the new poll sit officer's name will be released in 72 hours unless there's a threat against officer or family members. >> a volunteer firefighters from stratford, new jersey is behind bars tonight. police say 39-year-old express jury kapala arranged to have sex with under age girl he met on line and her mother. when kapala showed up tuesday he was arrested. he had in fact, been communicating with an undercover over. kopala is held at burlington county jail and sbail set at $75,000. a 91-year-old north philadelphia woman has for too long been afraid of the home next to hers. it's collapsing. and she's afraid that she is at ground zero. "action news" tried to help and it looks like the city is stepping up. here, peco, l & i, and they have not been back. >> that was 91-year-old fannie monk's reaction several days ago when she called "action news." she lives next door ato abandoned home on verge of collapse. >> i'm 91 years old and easy to get upset and right now i'm upset. >> she should be monk raised children and grandchildren in the home she kept impeccable for decades and the homeowner of abandoned property died 1996 and building started to fall apart on morning's home. row you dents and raccoons moved n monk began calling the city. last july they posted notice stating repairs were needed and l & i returned over a month ago and stated this saying the home would be torn down. >> she wants to come and hang clothes she cannot she's afraid. she should not have to live like this. >> monk's daughter katherine green says recent storms and rainfall post new concern she feared collapse was imminent and city was not going to follow up. today, l & i inspectors did after "action news" called and an inspector took pictures and assured her demlation could start as soon as monday when asked about the delay the l & i commissioner stated there are 300 properties along the sitd thinky that need to be dem ol irkd. tomorrow, contractors will be out here to begin the bidding process to decide who will tear down the eye sore. once that bid is awarded to a contractor then that house waymoth road reading avenue. they were called there late this afternoon. prosecutor's office is not releasing more details at this time. we're waiting to find out if charges will be filed in a deadly tennessee are out of homes tonight because a toxic cloud is hovering above the townch the cloud was released by a train that he derailed and caught fire late last night. hazardous chemicals on board that train are used to make plastics and highly flammable and can cause headaches and rapid heart beat. it could be two days before people are given the all clear to go back to their homes. >> ford is recalling more than 00,000 vehicles in the united states because of a software glitch. it could cause the engine to run even if ignition is turned off key removed or engine stop button is pressed. person in 12 years to die from this disease in the united states. the woman was most likely exposed to measles at a medical facility during that recent outbreak. she had several other health conditions an a suppressed immune systemch the woman did not have a rash which, of course is one of the measles most common symptoms. a crowd gathered in atlantic city tonight for the second annual "make the best of it bash" make the best of it. those were electric amiller's five favorite words. she lost bat toll melanoma in 2015 and she started the tara miller melanoma foundation to raise money for research. we're told tonight's event raised half a million dollars for this cause. a crowd gathered in atlantic city no sorry let's go on to this story. a local woman abandoned by her biological mother 8 years ago is using social media in hopes of tracking her down. heather kahne posted this picture on the 6abc news facebook page. in 1986 the staff at grand view hospital in sellersville received an anonymous call in 1986 that a baby was outside wrapped in red sweatshirt. newborn was hypothermic and quickly nursed back to help. kahne is emotionally ready and wants to meet the woman who gave her up. >> i don't have ill-will towards this person as all. nobody knows her circumstance is substances. it was not like she left me there hoping somebody would find me she made sure someone found me i think that's awesome. >> one woman already reached out to heather claiming to be her birth mother. we'll keep you updated on this story. let's go to cecily tynan and the holiday weekend forecast from accuweather. >> all in all the holiday weekend is looking nice. two out of three days should be spectacular. >> saturday, clouds and showers. saturday is not the nicest of three days. but stormtracker 6 live double scan showing the good news is showers we had earlier today from heavy rain along the coast moved out. so it's a great night to ride rides. steel pier of atlantic city is lit up tonight and it definitely is on the cool side and at least it's dry at the jersey shore. temperatures show along the shower want a sweatshirt. 67 cape may. avalon ocean city, margate and surech city all 68 degrees and inland temperatures not warmer. millville actually a little cooler. 66. trenton 67. philadelphia is highest number at this point 72 degrees. reading and wilmington currently 67. satellite 6 and action radar showing that low pressure that brought us clouds and showers is moving on out. you can see how clouds are clearing out nicely. the problem though is that the boundary a stalled front that really helped track this low pressure is not going anywhere and another wave of low pressure developed along that on saturday. but, tomorrow, high pressure is winning out. building down from the great lakes and that means a sunshine is back and mixture of sun and clouds and more sunshine to the north and more clouds south and temperatures back to 80s. 83 degrees. low humidity. it will feel comfortable tomorrow. on saturday, that high pressure moves away from us and this low pressure tracks south and ibt acts with a little piece of upper level energy. it brings us clouds and scattered showers especially first half of the day. temperatures drp a little with high of 8. good news for fireworks is that it looks like we will be drying out on saturday night. so if you head down the parkway i'll see you there the fireworks forecast, lots of clouds but it should be dry by then. 7:00 77 by 11:00, 72. all in all a pretty mild night. and if you head to the poconos tomorrow the sunshine is back. mostly sunny 7. for the fourth it clouds up with showers. 73. and sunday the nicest day of mountains, sun and clouds, high of 78. if headed to the shore is i want to point out that again there's a moderate risk of of rip current you want to listen to the lifeguard. don't go swimming when lifeguards are not on duty and put on suncreen. surprise and clouds, 75. nice day tomorrow. for the forge you may want to go shopping or do something other than happening on the beach with clouds and showers. 75. but sunday the sunshine is back and we warm up to 78. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast comfortable tomorrow, sun and clouds 83. saturday we cloud up with showers especially first half of the day. and 81 degrees and sunday partly sunny and temperatures up to 86. we warm up a little more monday. 88 degrees. on tuesday the high, 88 slightly more humid and wednesday and thursday is when we get that oppressive humidity and with that a possibility of late day showers and thunderstorms. and 87 on wednesday and thursday 86 degrees. certainly not a perfect weekend. but it will not be a washout and again at this point looks like showers
