EDMONTON, AB - Philip Broberg played through the pain on Wednesday.
The Oilers defence prospect was noticeably hindered as Sweden took on Russia but still managed to compete for 23:41, though the game ended in defeat with a 4-3 overtime decision.
Marat Khusnutdinov's sudden-death winner on the power play with just six seconds left in the extra frame ended Sweden's remarkable preliminary round win streak at 54 games.
After recording three assists and getting selected as Sweden's top player against Czech Republic on Saturday, Broberg was held out of the lineup for Monday's game against Austria.
