WORCESTER — A 31-year-old armed man shot by Worcester police on April 20 told a police dispatcher that the bomb strapped to him was attached to his heart, and that if his heart were to stop, the bomb would blow up.
Phet Gouvonvong Jr. called 911 about 10:30 p.m., and was transferred to an emergency dispatcher in Worcester. A short time later, he asked for police officers to be sent to his location, in the area of 258 Grafton St.
Gouvonvong said he did not know where he was, instead telling the dispatcher he was near a church, a basketball court and a Pizza Hut. The dispatcher asked if he was on Grafton Street, and he said that he was. He also said he had an AR rifle.
