Across the river in new jersey, state police are still looking for the gunman who opened fire in the parking lot after the performance. Hiphop superstar j. Cole of st. Johns university has been selling out venues all over the world. After monday nights performance at the pnc center, new Jersey State Police say someone shot and wounded two people in the parking lot. It is said its not the fault of the music. I think hiphop has gotten blamed for these for decades and decades. If you go to the run dmc era, they were blaming people for violence and they were preaching peace. Reporter there are concerns about violence and hiphop. This morning in toronto, a man and woman were shot and killed during the ovo fest after party hosted by drake. In june, more than 60 people without tickets were arrested after trying to jump the gate at hot 97s peaceful summer jam concert at metlife stadium. The nypd will be better prepared. The Operations Bureau in the nypd is going to put out a detail, a large of numbers that will insure certain people dont cause problems. Once people heard the hail and thunder, it was too late to prepare. Couldnt be any more than 10 minutes. A short window of distance, but very intense. Boom, boom, crash, crash. I kind of knew something hit our house. It was the alarm that waked thousands, a massive tree pierced through this sky light. Sandy and gloria and irene. And you name it. And nothing ever like this. Reporter severe thunderstorms and wind picked up around 4 00 this morning. Skyfox hd shows tree limbs snapped off in yards. In brookhaven and smith town, uprooted trees and downed wires blocked roads, cut power to traffic lights and covered cars to the point where you could barely see them. This was by my dining table. Reporter donna had the storm on surveillance video. Wind gusts snapped and sent her umbrella flying. Trees dented her shed. Pse g had restored power to more than half of the customers affected. There is a major backup happening in new jersey on the turnpike. This is because of a dump truck that struck the wood avenue overpass in linden. It caught fire about 10 30 this morning. One of my friends called me and said he was stuck on the turnpike for five hours straight. Horrible. Dari its a nightmare. This is happening near exit 13a. Joe beerman is live over the scene in skyfox. What do you know . Well, two words for this traffic jam. Historic and monumental. 20 years, ive never seen it this bad. The big picture is this is the southbound truck lanes of the new jersey turnpike south of the gothles bridge. The truck catches fire and bringing down electrical lines. Theres concern about gas lines. Theyre working to remove the wreckage. The best information we have from the Turnpike Authority, it will be this way for hours and hours. Sometime later this evening. Now, youll notice one, two, three lanes of the roads, of the turnpike are closed. The only thing that is open right now is the northbound truck lanes coming up to interchange 13. Those three other roadways southbound are closed from 14 all the way down to 10. The traffic congestion, five hours was my estimate. If youre by the Vince LombardiService Plaza by route 46 and trying to come down to bumpertobumper. We describe these traffic delays normally in miles. These delays are described in the hours. Southbound at least five hours. This is the northbound delay. 13. This is all rubbernecking. My guess is four, five hours. If you come across the bridge from Staten Island, that ramp is closed. Dari a giant sinkhole that has swallowed part of the street in brooklyn, look at that. Lidia curanaj is live at the scene to tell us what created the massive crater. Reporter when you look at the sinkhole, its pretty remarkable that no one was hurt. Its a half block here right behind me. This is a very busy street, fifth avenue. Neighbors tell me it was one of the busiest in sunset park. You have a lot of vehicle and foot traffic, even a bus route. Crews have been here around the clock trying to figure the hole. Seemingly out of nowhere, this giant sinkhole, measuring 20 feet wide and 20 feet deep, opened around 7 00 a. M. At fifth and 64th street in sunset park, brooklyn. Florida is flooding. California is burning. We have sinkholes in new york. Kind of weird. Reporter no one was hurt. A 48inch water main was leaking under the area, and that could have undermined the street and caused it to buckle. No one was evacuated because the fire Officials Say the area around the gaping hole seems to be structurally sound. But that could change. Theres no gas leaks. Theres no everything is intact at this time. All utilities are intact. It appears to be a water leak that undermined the road, washed away the earth and thats why the street gave way. Reporter the fdny says construction was occurring at the night, but its unclear if it contributed to the collapse. The water line and gas lines have been shut off and are expected to be off for some time. Traffic is being diverted from this normally busy intersection. There wont be anybody out of water until we get everything off and when we have everything off, well know. Its a transmission main. It doesnt impact block by block the way you would normally think about a water main break. Reporter you can hear the crews busy here behind me. That caused it to roll a mile through town before it rammed a wall. Yesterday crews were able to get the locomotive out of the wall. Dari thats incredible. The family of sandra bland is heading to federal court to find answers surrounding her death. They have filed a wrongful death suit on behalf of the 28yearold suing the state trooper who arrested her and jail guards they believe are responsible for her death. An autopsy found bland committed suicide after being arrested and held in a jail cell in texas several weeks ago. But blands family doesnt believe she killed herself and they say they dont want others to go through what they have gone through. We in filing this lawsuit are looking to hold those who are responsible for the stop and sandys ultimate death accountable. Dari the family wants the Justice Department to launch its own investigation into her death. Tributes continue to pour in for cecil the lion. He is being remembered with a beanie baby. Again, our dew point temperatures are highest along the coast. Thats where were humid as you go across long island and down through belmar. Then to the north and west, the dew points are in the 50s. Thats more comfortable. The humidity goes away tonight. Were looking at 30, 40 humidity from the city north and west. Higher humidity as you move to the eastern end of long island. Were shifting to a west to northwesterly wind with the cold front sliding to east. The result is Better Weather coming our way. The powerful storms came rocking through boston with hail that was almost not quite tennis ballsized or smaller. Big storms again New Hampshire up into maine. Theyre sliding off to the east. As we look at the bigger picture, our weather to the west is drying out. That will be the trend through the evening. The cold front is moving to the east.
