"today in new york's" kathy craig is on wall street. kat, hours before people wake up on wall street, but people anxious already. >> reporter: right. traders here on wall street dismayed by what happened with ocks in china. first, we do want to say stocks were down in china which meant losses across the board in asia. european shares and u.s. futures are up so there may be a little bit of optimism that is providing some hop today. it won't be yesterday, within minutes of the opening bell. this is what happened yesterday, the dow plunged more than 1,000 points by the end of the trading day the dow finished down 588 points. that meant 11 months of gains wiped not three trading sessions. there are fears that china's economy are slowing down. here in the u.s. ans d what that means for the u.s. markets. >> they've created demand. they've created commerce when our economy was slower. now, china's slowing and the rest of the world seems to be fairly slow, too. >> reporter: again, stocks closed lower in china. but what is happened right now, european share, u.s. futures are up. for the regular investor who may be woroped about their 401(k). the message from market analysts, michael is to sit tough. we'll talk about that in the next half hour.
