Will Democrats Succeed in Packing the Supreme Court? Experts Say No.
The progressives are eager to signal to their voters that they back court packing even though such a measure is very unlikely to actually go anywhere.
After former President Donald Trump and Republicans filled three vacant seats of the Supreme Court with conservative justices during the former president’s White House term, Democrats were furious.
That prompted calls from the Democrats’ far-Left wing to “pack” the nation’s highest court with progressive and liberal justices, as Trump and the GOP tilted the bench’s ideology to have a 6-3 conservative majority after pushing Amy Coney Barrett’s appointment just days before the 2020 presidential election.
