The new Parliament complex can be accessed via six gates, which have symbolic references. These gates - Gaja Dwar, Ashwa Dwar, Garuda Dwar, Makar Dwar, Shardula Dwar, and Hamsa Dwar - have been named after a mixture of real and mythological creatures from Indian folklore.
