West Fargo Police receive grant for new officer Written By: Wendy Reuer | × Crime statistics for 2019 were down slightly despite a rise in calls for service. David Samson / The Forum WEST FARGO —The West Fargo Police department will be adding another police officer in 2021 after it received a grant from the state to help focus on at-risk youth. Police Chief Denis Otterness said the approximately $78,000 grant will help the department hire another officer next year. The position would be one that assists with the department's planned focus on reaching at-risk youth as a prevention method and will also likely work closely with the city's lone cultural liaison officer position. The cultural liaison officer helps educate new residents about the city's police force as well as educating the police department on the plethora of cultures that now make up West Fargo residents.
