His cremation was attended by members of the Banerjee family | 16 May 2021 7:26 AM GMT Kolkata: Ashim Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's younger brother, died of COVID-19 on Saturday morning (May 15) at the age of 62. Dr Alok Roy, chairman of the city's Medica Superspecialty Hospital, Kolkata, said that Banerjee was undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past one month. A senior doctor at the hospital said that Banerjee died around 9:20 AM. "He was detected with COVID-19 last month and was undergoing treatment for almost a month now. He had certain comorbidities such as hypertension," the doctor said.
