Starting tonight and that is why weve issued a first alert. Lets get right to nbc 10 meteorologist glen scharts to talk about all this snow. This is one of the snowest moving systems that weve ever seen and the main impact of it for much of the area is going to be overnight tonight until noon on wednesday and affecting all areas eventually. The snow mainly coming tonight and the slippery wednesday morning commute across many parts of our area. Its already started in Lehigh Valley, burks county has had some snow this morning may have some this afternoon, but its not going to start much of chefrt county, montgomery counties, bucks county until after the afternoon rush today and from the philadelphia area down through south jersey until around 11 00 tonight and the first flakes will probably be melting in this area. And then not until 7 00 tomorrow morning as you head towards the shore. Thats just an amazingly slow progress. And you can see its not moving in this direction, we had this little area break off and come through earlier today, but now everything is retreating. And this line, band of snow actually goes all the way to the gulf of mexico. Its very strange. As we go through the afternoon, temperatures above freezing across much of the area. So were not expecting much in the way of slippery driving. But as we go through the night tonight, the snow spreads through the area and eventually the temperatures drop as well. More on whos going to get how much and exactly when coming up. Right now light snow is sticking to the ground in other services in burks county. And we have Pamela Osborne live in exittor township with a look at the conditions there. Good morning, aaron if the was snowing a little bit earlier this morning within the past 30 minutes or so that light snow has muftd out but it will be back. Right behind me here you can see just a tiny bit of snow was on the road. Its kind of melted down a bit. Theyve been dropping a lot of salt down. Weve seen penndot trucks going up and down salting and plowing. We actually started making our way here because of conditions on 422, it was shut down near reddi reading as the snow fell. Things were moving again by the time we came back up to exittor. But we saw a car that lost control on another stretch of 422. It went off a road and crashed into a small building. And then this maroon car, the driver there lost control and crashed into a road sign before coming to a stop there. I talked to penndot and they told me crews were out pretreating the road east of where we are now. All 450 trucks will be out during the storm. Penndot says the snow that glen was telling us about will stick, so the plan is to have those trucks out salting the roads and then once theres an accumulation, they will be plowing the roads. We know the snow is going to impact your evening and morning commute, so when we come back well show you a piece of information, a resource that will help you see what conditions are like as soon as you leave your home or job or wherever youre headed to this evening. Reporting live from exittor township, Pamela Osborne, nbc 10 news. Well see you then, pam put can count on the nbc 10 app to kiep updated on the snowy conditions. You can track the forecast right down to your neighborhood and get weather alerts sent directly to your phone. Well, the majority of roads are back open this morning in trenton and bucks county after chunks of ice caused flooding. Ice jams created by freezing temperatures clogged the Delaware River sending water over the banks. In the meantime, we have seen people walking on the ice jam. Police warn do not do it if the is dangerous. Thats a deer right there. Some parts are moving and they can collapse into the water. Now, the snow semipacting area roads this morning. Lets get an update with traffic reporter jessica. So watching 708 right now, earlier there are was a mus mess. We had it closed in both directions. Root 183 swr this camera looking from if the was closed on east bound and westbound sides. This is what the situation looks like out in most of the parts of burks county right now, definitely one of the worst spots at least in terms of slippery areas and snow. Watching trenton too, back to that even though we talked about it a second ago, route 29 and calhoun street and Memorial Drive some of those are still closed because of the flooding. Additionally were seeing some road treatments in progress on the new jersey turnpike, and the Atlantic City expressway so parts of those roads getting treatments to help later. And to help you get started on what were seeing now, this is an abington line road and watching this google expressway, some on the eastbound and westbound sides. Eastbound you can see thats where were seeing the delay. 16 minutes right now from the blue route to the mine and speeds down in the 40s. Erin. And that was earlier in the day at 4 30 in the afternoon. Then we look at your feelslike temperature, 51. Winds are going to be so light the temperature high enough there will nobody difference. But last week during kickoff it felt like 17 degrees outsite. So this is going to feel much, much better off. Lets run through the hour by hour. Kick offat 6 40, that temperature at 51 degrees and winds mostly around 10 to 15 miles per hour. Those winldsing from a different direction as well. Southwest instead of northwest. Announcer now your nbc 10 first alert weather. Well, we continue to expect snow into the area. We have quite a break during the day today and even into the evening. Not much wind. Weapon got we got a little bif sunshine into the area but we still have that first alert out and thats mainly from overnight tonight until noon tomorrow for of course the snow affecting the morning rush tomorrow most likely. And, the afternoon rush today, the main impact will be Lehigh Valley berks. Morning rush tomorrow pretty much all areas impacted. By the afternoon rush tomorrow, it wont be snow, it could be some leftover slick spots. As we look at the radar, look at this. Its just not moving in our direction. And its just barely grazing the upper portion of berks county and getting into the poconos. But it just continues way back. Look how far back, it goes all the way down to mexico. Thats over 1800 miles straight of snow. Very unusual. Very unusual. And moving very slow. Which is also unusual. Right now its 36 degrees in philadelphia, its near or above the freezing mark in much of the area. 42 Atlantic City and medicalville. 31 in reading and lancaster, 29 inial leantown. Those are the only areas where we could see some snow. Later today it could stick a little bit. But the future cache shows that this main snow area just does not move. Here we go overnight tonight, finally its starting to head toward the philadelphia area and willing ming ton and trenton, but we still have borderline temperatures and maybe a little rain in the beginning. And if it snows in the beginning could start melting and by tomorrow morning we have a more widespread snow. Once again, though, the temperatures are a little bit borderline across i95 corridor and points to the south while north and west it is cold enough to keep sticking. So i still expect more problems north and west of the philadelphia area than i do across the rest of the region. 11 00 a. M. We still have the snow, although it is tapering off and ending in western parts of the area. And by the afternoon rush, its all gone and maybe even the sun coming out late in the day. And then some cold air by thursday morning, parts of the area are in the teens and philadelphias in the low 20s. So the snow totals, the least amount toward the shore, southern dahl, the greatest to the north. We havent really changed it, our original think was 3 to 5 inches for the Lehigh Valley, berks county, parts of upper bucks, western montgomery, northern chester county. Youll see easton, allentown, reading, all in the 3 to 5, richmond and bucks county in the 3 to 5. Buckingham, North Hampton in the 1 to 2 inches. And back to norristown, appington, philadelphia, west chest, he wilmington, again, in the 1 to 2 inch category. And most of the snow, the worst of it comes during the morning rush tomorrow. So thats the time to leave a little extra time and to drive a little more slowly. Its not a big storm, does not have the potential to be, but it certainly could be messy for that morning rush. Ill be back with more on what to expect coming up. The road to victory is rolling through philadelphia. Up next, im talking to Philadelphia Eagles insider dave spa dare row about sundays matchup against minnesota and what the birds need to do to make sure the super bowl isnt a home game for the vikings. Next time, i want you on my bowling team. [ laughs ] rodney. Bowling. Classic. Can i help you . Its me. Jamie. Im not good with names. Celeste i trained you. We share a locker. Moose man yo. He gets two name your price tools. He gets two . I literally coined the phrase, we give you Coverage Options based on your budget. Thats me. Jamie yeah. Youre back from italy. [ both smooch ] ciao bella. All right. Hop on to the road to victory. All thats standing in the way of the eagles and the super bowl is the minnesota vikings. Let that process a little bit as we count down to the nfc championship game sunday. Philadelphia eagles dave spadaro is here with us this morning. Always love having you. Thank you. Eagles defense, lets jump right in. Thats a big reason why were in the championship game. No doubt. Theyve played great, they dominated the line of scrimmage against laenatlanta and they ju fit very well. Jim schwartz, the offensive coordinator, he knew what do. Thats a result of good film study and it set off a wild celebration in philly. Nick foles, whatd you think of him and his performance on saturday . Impressive. Didnt turn the ball over with the pass. Too many mistakes ovffensively, loved the game plan. When nick foles sat his best as we snau his first start here against the giants, he throws the ball and gives the Wide Receivers a chance to make plays. Didnt do that in games against oakland ant dallas cowboys, relied on the short passes like that screen pass for a touchdown to jay agjayi. On saturday much better at getting that ball ought. The offensive line did a great job of keeping the pocket clean for him and he did a great job of getting to the refers. They pulled out an incredible win over the saints but what are your main concerns here . Its going to be a bloody, nasty, smashmouth Football Game and the eagles cannot be as sloppy as they were on saturday against atlanta. They certainly cant do that. Thats just an egregious mistake by the defense in new orleans. So good luck to the vikings to keep that emotion going. Think the key, look, playing with intensity, emotion, and dont turn the football over. But honestly think its going to be a tough, physical, nasty game. I just did not understand that play right there. Yeah. He talked a little bit switching a little bit, the eagles autism challenge thats coming up thi
