the west, look at all the snow that's coming through the ohio valley. this is not a snow event for us, but the shades of pink is showing freezing precipitation, wintry mix, that could be on the way for us. through the evening we'll be watching those temperatures stay steady. we're going to be watching periods of heavy rain and maybe a little bit of a mix for the lehigh valley and berks county before dawn tomorrow. that's when the temperatures plummet and that's part two of the story, glenn has that. >> here we are in the 60s, near midnight tonight, and then when you get up in the morning, wow, we're going to be seeing dramatic changes across the area. right now, we still hav warmth at 62 in philadelphia. 64 in allentown. it set a record earlier today. mount pocono set a record. look at all these places in the 60s. a little bit cooler right near the beaches with the wind coming in off the cool ocean. you can see the temperatures all the way through the night, 60 or above. there we go. just four hours, the temperature drops 20 degrees. but the wind is picking up, too. so now we're talking about feeling like 20 by 8:00 a.m. 60 at midnight, 20 at 8:00 a.m. that's what's happening tomorrow and it's going to affect the eagles game, too. we'll get into the specifics of the game and our next threat of snow coming up. you can keep track of the rain and the drop in temperatures by downloading the nbc 10 app. it has an interactive radar. it also has forecasts for your neighborhood. now, to a developing story out west. nbc 10 has learned that police have made an arrest in the murder of a upenn student. this is video of the suspect being taken into custody. police haven't released any details at this point. blaze burnstein was found dead earlier this month on winter break. the orange county sheriff's department will have a live update at the top of the hour. you can watch it live on nbc10.com. also tonight, a hero remembered. firefighters from near and far lined the rainy streets of philadelphia to pay their last respects to a fallen colleague. >> nbc 10's aundrea cline-thomas is joining us live outside the basilica of saints peter and paul. that's where mourns celebrated the life of captain matthew letourneau. >> reporter: so many people were out here. matt letourneau first became a firefighter when he was a teenager. ov his career, his reach has been far and wide. many of those firefighters that he impacted showed up for him today. the basilica of st. peter and paul was the chosen gathering place during the city's most sorrowful moments. today was no exception. family, friends and first responders from across the country showed up to pay their final respect to firefighter matt letourneau. >> he's a hero. you know, it's what we do every day. and you know, every day when you go to work there's no guarantee that you're going to come back home. >> reporter: lourneau did not return home last saturday. he answered a call and ran into a burning house, trying to save someone's life. >> we will never forget the incredible sacfice that lieutenant matthew letourneau made to keep the residents of philadelphia safe. >> reporter: a sacrifice honored with a promotion to captain. but the focus wasn't solely on the sorrow of his death but the joy of how he lived. >> from rookie to commissioner, stranger to best friend. even the pope. he never wanted anyone to feel left out and unwelcome. >> reporter: that's what makes it hurmany. they not only stand in solidarity, they're saying good-bye to a mentor, instructor, fellow firefighter and friend. >> godspeed, matt. >> reporter: in addition to firefighting, matt letourneau loved playing golf. he also helped animals, especially those displaced by fires. he was 42 years old. reporting in logan square, aundrea cline-thomas. nbc 10 news. new at 6:00, justice for a family in bucks county. police have made an arrest in a deadly hit and run. the driver was charged with leaving the scene of the accident. he's accused of racing another car last month when he hit and killed kevin williams. police say he then fled the country. they're working to extradite him back to the u.s. police tell us that could motivate him to come back to the u.s. there's a new man in charge for the city of camden this evening. mayor frank moran was sworn in minutes ago. one of his biggest challenges will be changing people's perceptions of their own city. nbc 10's south jersey reporter cydney long has the story. >> reporter: i can tell you right now it's all about the celebration of the inaugural. as a former public works guy, mayor frank moran is not afraid to get his hands dirty. he will create an incentive campaign aimed at getting people who work here to live here. for javier gomez, today is his first ever visit to donkey's place, a staple for cheesesteaks. he's part of the fabric of camden. he worked laying concrete. but the first time he visited the city he didn't feel safe. he says the big picture is clearerer and he may consider moving here. >> we live where the job is. >> reporter: that's the vision of camden's new sworn mayor. >> we'll be creative, working with our fifth legislative team sdp . >> reporter: he says the city will create incentives for corporations to live locally. >> these are people that are coming into our city each and every day. every one of them has a multitude of friends and family in which, you know, they're relating their camden experience to. >> reporter: for police, the biggest challenge remains fighting crime. 30% of the population is under 18, so it's a tough fight. from 2016 to '17, the homicide rate dropped 48%. overall, crime is at a near 50 year low. >> interesting that we continue to battle. i'm confident that we won't be in the top five in the coming years as one of the most violent cities. >> reporter: the private investment in camden over the past three to four years is to the tune of $3 billion. >> a rising tide lifts all boats. my promise to the residents of camden is that i will give my 100% to bring real change to the city. but my ask of my residents is to unite. >> reporter: now, moran says he has never been a 9:00 to 5:00 guy and he doesn't plan to begin that schedule now. he's asking residents to be patient to continue to work with police on camden's strong but certain comeback. we're live in camden, i'm cydney long. president donald trump is denying he used a vulgar term to describe countries like haiti and el salvador yesterday. according to people who were at a meeting with him yesterday he referred to them as s-hole countries. he insists he never said anything derogatory boabout haitians. senator dick durbin, who was in yesterday's meeting, insisted the president did indeed use the term. >> the most disheartening thing to me is my belief that that was the first time words that hatefhat hateful had been spoken in the oval office of the white house. i cannot imagine a moment where a president sunk to that depth. >> this afternoon, republican speaker of the house, paul ryan called the comments very unfortunate and unhelpful. turning to this, the eagles' road to victory begins in a matter of hours. by this time tomorrow the birds will be on the field for their first playoff game. hopefully with a little less rain. >> kickoff is at 4:30 tomorrow but it's never too early to get the party started, right? nbc 10 britney shipp is joining us from xfinity live with some fans there, too. >> reporter: that's right. it's never too early to get the party started. basically we've been riding around o victory bus all day. the bus is parked outside at xfinity live. we're in the middle of a rally. we have a live show happening behind us here. all the fans have turned out. we also have listen, we're going to run the ball. we're going to play defense. two touchdowns, no interceptions. we're going to handle things tomorrow because we're better than atlanta. true fans know this. >> the place. >> i was like, what could get worse now? >> reporter: furniture, clothing, toys and medical supplies damaged or destroyed. the house, temporarily unlivable. for coa for the whole family. >> why us? i don't know how much more we can handle. >> reporter: but this hotel and timeshare stepped up. the manager letting them stay here for free. >> right now we have it for a week. she said if we need it longer we have to let her know, which is amazing. >> reporter: a police dispatcher put posts on facebook to help get donated clothes and gift cards for the family. in just a day, she says the response has already been tremendous. >> i was like, i had to do something to try to help them out. they've been through so much. >> there's no words to explain how thankful we are. >> reporter: they hope to be able to return home in a week once repairs are made. this family, already enduring so much, wants to eventually be able to give back. ted greenburg, nbc 10 news. well, it's not often you see kids and their teachers playing a board game in school. but don't worry, they're not goofing off. they're competing. nbc 10 had challenge night at school in ben salem. teachers challenged students in a number of competitions that were academic as well as artistic. might be a good couple days to stay inside and play games. turning to our weather, it's been a wet and warm day across our area, including here in allentown. don't get too comfortable without a coat. a major temperature drop is coming in just a matter of hours. what a drop off it's going to be. first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking all those changes coming our way. >> it's in the 60s right now, glenn. what's the drop going to be? >> it's going to feel 40 degrees colder between midnight and 8:00 in the morning. just to give you an idea about this arctic blast, pittsburgh dropped 22 degrees in 45 minutes. just an hour or so ago. that's the arctic blast. rain tonight, the arctic blast and then snow next week. don't want to forget that. this is all rain, obviously, too warm for snow no matter where you are, even in the poconos. some of this is on the heavy side. starting up to the north in the lehigh valley down through much of bucks county, warrington, hatfield. philadelphia is over here about to get hit. everything's coming to the northeast. wilmington's rain is going into delaware county. further to the south, smyrna's rain is headed towards salem county. riv riverview's rain is going into the dover area. there's more to come. plenty down in southern virginia. lines of thunderstorms in western maryland. it's going to be a long, wet night. eventually, the cold air is coming. not the snow, that's going to be lifting out into new england. here's the hour by hour. you can see some of this heavy rain over the next couple of hours, you may get a bit of a break. then another wave comes in in the middle of the night just ahead of the cold air. it looks like the precipitation will shut off just as the cold air is coming in. so that's why we're not expecting any kind of snow. there could be a little bit of icing north and west with this. 64 for the high in philly. 67 northeast philly. 65 record in allentown. it's still 65 in allentown. cooler near the beaches because of that ocean. now, as we go through the day tomorrow, there's no doubt it's going to be freezing cold. it won't be as bad as the last game. but it's going to be cold. 32 tailgating at 1:00. 29 at kickoff and dropping to the mid20s by the fourth quarter. feeling like 9 at the end. 15 at the beginning. that's cold. and then that sets us up for a clipper system coming in on tuesday, bringing some snow to parts of the area, some rain towards the shore. there's a possibility of some development offshore that could produce more significant snow coming in on wednesday. so that is something that we're going to have to watch as well. because, of course, that would stick after the cold weather. temperatures plummeting tomorrow down into the low 20s by tomorrow evening. feeling like single digits. we've got a few cold days, then a light snow chance tuesday. a little more significant on wednesday. another cold day on thursday, but we warm up next weekend. it's going to be a lot warmer. hey, i'm danny pommels from nbc sports philadelphia. coming up, we've got details on are trying to slow him and the offense down. with more on the falcons' defense, here's john clark. >> reporter: the atlanta falcons may be the toughest defense the eagles have faced all year with the way they're playing. take a look at this, over their last six games they're giving up an average of 16 points a game. they only gave up 13 points to the rams. the highest scoring offense in the nfl. a week earlier, they gave up ten points to the panthers. only gave up 14 points to the number two seed, minnesota. and 17 points to the saints. they are battle tested heading into philadelphia. >> they are, extremely fast. they have good corners outside. guys that can rush on the inside, again, another challenge for us. >> it's something you work all year for. you know, back in otas you work so hard
