representative tom macarthur was a yes. if. >> philly homeowners have been able to deduct all of the tax money they paid to harrisburg and city hall leaving them a smaller amount to send the fed. not ushd the new plan. $10,000 will limit on the deduction of state, local and property taxes. >> whether there's limitation of the local taxes, it's going to put downward pressure on the higher end for property. >> the change makes renting a more attractive option for some and shift the hot real estate market. we'll keep you updated on the tax plan vote in washington and its impact on you. just tap the free nbc 10 app. . developing right now, the search for a holiday thief is growing tonight. police in three counties and two states are on the hunt for this man. say he's targeting people everywhere from office parks to hospitals. >> multiple credit card thefts have been reported across lehigh and even in maryland. you can see the areas the thief struck on your screen. >> deanna durante joins us with exclusive details about the crimes. >> reporter: when we told you about the story last week, this bandit was striking in office parks and buildings here. now we have learned he's been striking across the state from the pocono mountains and even out of state into maryland. he with us in like he belongs here. always wearing his penn state baseball cap. you see him in the video from upper marion township. the guy police say has an answer to any question he's asked. recently inside a hospital, he carried a clipboard and left with purses and wallets. >> we're trying to find the vehicle in question. >> reporter: his car is always the same. a gold or tan chevy tahoe. the plates are stolen b, but look closely at the bumper, a big dent on the driver's side. he grabs the cash and runs up as much as he can with credit. the headache to clean up a financial mess. >> around the holidays, people are depending upon their money and credit cards and personal belongings. it's tough this time of year. >> the guy play it is cool. watch as he walks in behind an employee, gets on an elevator and police say in most cases the guy is in question. >> he tried to play it off he work there is or time it as the employees are leaving or entering the building. >> reporter: it's left to continue his one-man stealing spree. >> reporter: investigators say this guy is starting to pose a bigger threat. that a z he's trying to escape in that tahoe, you saw in the pictures in the video he came close to hitting someone here in montgomery county in the last several days. he was trying to e get away as police were closing in. that's why say they need to find this guy. if you know who he is, call your local police department. reporting live, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. more breaking news in west philadelphia. an 85-year-old man was stabbed to death. >> aaron is live on the scene. this investigation is just get. ing started. >> reporter: still an active situation here on addison in west philadelphia. we arrived on scene 20 minutes ago. if you can look down the block on your right, that's where the action is. that's where detectives are going inside the house still looking for clues. here's what we know so far. this happened around 2:30. an 85-year-old man was found stabbed to death inside his house. police are telling us tonight it looks like a relative, a female relative, found him and called 911. they are also telling me they believe there's signs of force, but that doesn't mean forced entry by the suspect or forced exit by the suspect. mean iing he ran out of the hou after this happened. had a chance to talk to a few neighbors since we arrived on scene. everybody is devastated out here. that's the word that keeps being used. the 85-year-old man has lived on the block for 40 or 50 years. so he's well known in this area. also one more note. according to neighbors, he apparently lives by himself. we'll be on the scene for awhile. we'll have another update at 6:00. we talked to some neighbors and you'll hear their reaction in a little while. back to you in the studio. to the weather now. a warm december day here in c camden. nbc 10 on the campus where it was a mix of light and heavy coats. temperatures were in the 50s today. warm start to the evening with temperatures still in the mid-50s. >> beautiful out there. over in cape may, it's a few degrees cooler. a little more cloudy. chief meteorologist tammie souza joins us now. >> big warm-up has begun. >> today the upper 50s across the area. we should be 43 for a daytime high. this is a gift. this time next week, we're probably not going to make it out of the 20s. let's go to cape may where we showed you this beautiful picture. 53 degrees right now in cape may. feels like 53 degrees. how about the poconos? a mild night. we will into the 30s. but i think that's probably going to happen quickly closer to midnight and maybe 2:00 a.m. until then, we'll be very comfortable. we'll drop down to 3 in their lives in the crash that happened in tabernacle yesterday afternoon. cydney long joins us live with the latest on the investigation. >> i spoke to the victims' loved ones a at the police barracks today also to a cousin of this suspect driver by phone. they didn't want to go on camera, but they tell me they are heartbroken about the circumstances leading up to this crash. they have some questions for police. the driver slammed into a utility pole on monday. they died on exact, with the vehicle bursting into flames. police confirmed they did pursue the stolen car but didn't make clear if they activated lights or sirens or at what speed or how long the chase lasted. >> i don't know what their protocall is, but when you reach a certain is speed, you should back off because you're endangering a lot of people. >> reporter: state police say the driver was driving erratically on 206. this after the teen'sedly stole the car from a restaurant. >> they were wrong. i don't know. these police officers around here are very respected. >> reporter: loved ones say he should have simply pulled over but they can't help but wonder police travel as fast as 80 miles per hour near a school zone. >> the end of that street, if they were going at a high rate of speed, that's a hard turn to negotiate. >> the family tells me he recently attended burlington city high school, but he also did not have a car or a driver's license. so they are unclear how the three young people made it out here to tabernacle. one of the women killed in the crash was girlfriend. we are withholding her name is going to bring us heavy rain. the other one is going to bring us a chance of christmas snow. i'll discuss in a few minutes. a trenton man is facing attempted murder charges after he was indicted for trying to kill a female friend. the charges stem from an incident in october where prosecutors say john brag stabbed the woman after she turned down his sexual advances. another man was also stabbed. a neighbor contacted police and he was arrested. brag is locked up in mercer county. new details on how much taxpayers shell ed out to settl sexual harassment complaints in congress. that total is now up to $199,000 over the last ten years. that's in an effort to change laws about sexual harassment. they want to introduce a bill to change a system that protects those accused over those making the accusations. british police are questioning four men they believe were plotting terror attacks. the men were taken into custody at their homes in northern england. the men haven't been charged with anything. britain's threat level is at severe. that means an attack is is highly likely. police aren't saying exactly what the men were doing. right now, gun advocates and sepp a ta police are doing their part to lower shootings. they are handing out free gun locks. as o of monday, there's been 301 deadly shootings in philadelphia. now here's a look at the stories making headlines county by county across the region today. police in camden county are l k looking for three men accused of robbing a supermarket at g gunpoint. this is video of that incident. that happened on december 13th. the suspect took with cash before they got away. the owner is thankful no one got hurt. >> i was worried he was going to shoot me. >> any information or recognize the suspects, you're asked to call police. a local hospital is helping bring some christmas cheer to 100 camden families in need. employees at our lady of lord medical center adopted 91 fam y families for the holidays. they held a mass inside the chapel where they prepare to deliver the gift bought for each family. students from the nursing program provided the musical backdrop for today's event. delaware county is getting a new target store. it's going up near lancaster. it won't be a full-size store. it will be one of the smaller formatted stores. it's expected to open in july of 2019. police are looking for two men wanted for an armed robbery in philadelphia's frankfurt neighborhood and wait until you see the gun used. take a look. see the man standing next to the door? look at the gun he's holding. it happened on kensington avenue. no one was hurt. he got away with cash and cigarettes and a cell phone. protecting your privacy, the new feature facebook is introducing to help keep unwanted pictures of you from surfacing online. and cars for kids, how local children are getting a little empowerment. that's next at 5:00. tonight helping kids with disabilities get around. the eagles and the organization go baby go helped deliver small-powered cars to patients at lincoln financial field today. the program helps build the cars so the children can play, explore and socialize with everyone else. parents say the sets of wheels go a long way. >> i appreciate everything that's going on. >> have the nbc 10 logo on it. this idea started at the university of delaware several years ago. don't bother paying the parking meter in camden. residents and visitors can park for free from now until new year's day. the gesture is a way u to encourage people to visit camden during the holidays. more than a thousand children in the lebanon area will get christmas gifts this year thanks to community donations. hundreds of families came to the salvation army to pick up gifts that were donated as part of the angel tree program. people in the community purchased the gift that were on the children's gift list. the salvation army has seen an increase in need this year. >> we have had an increase this year. about 100 families more currently have just under 50 families on the waiting list. so the need keeps growing. >> gifts for families on the waiting list can only be given if the salvation army gets more donations. there could be some record setting spending this holiday season is. that's according to cnbc all america survey of the 800 people surveyed, most said they plan to spend more than $900 over the holidays. that's the highest rate of spending in 12 years. this could help us out here. facebook is introducing new facial recognition software to help people look their best online. i can get behind that. the social media giant will notify people whether or not they have been tagged. a new feature could also help prevent fraud or fake accounts being made. it will work for new pictures posted by accounts like erin coleman on facebook or maybe me keith jones. follow us on there. we have new video tonight. it is at the center of a lawsuit filed by a philadelphia attorney. take a look for yourself. arrested in august after this scuffle with sheriffs deputies. he's now suing six of the officers. he said they tackled him, used unnecessary force and giving his input, doing what he can to help the team. he threw four touchdowns in that win over the giants sunday. he matched carson wentz's season high. carson has been right there with the quarterbacks. they are so close. right after he got out of surgery, he was facetiming the quarterbacks about a new play. so he's coach carson now and it's very uplifting to the team. >> today he was back in the building in the quarterback room. and just being himself. obviously, first and foremost it's about his rehab. he knows that nick is the guy. that's the way it has to be. the great thing is that room is so comfortable in there. there's such a good dynamic. he's not ever going to be a wall flower. >> he's not a wall flower. he's going to be involved. at 6:20, are the eagles playing with mild and basically dry. maybe a few sprinkles in here on friday. the rain really doesn't arrive until saturday. great for shopping and getting around. now on saturday, we'll see 60 degrees, but we're going to see rain with that. it's going to make it treacherous on the roadways. 40s on sunday. the temperature drops quickly. it becomes frigid next week. we do have a chance of some light snow across parts of the area on christmas. nothing coming in on the radar. a few clouds drifting through. we have a pleasant evening ahead. a little off to the north of us. it's not going to bother us. we have the storm system coming out of the deep south. that's going to actually skirt past us. it's not going to bring us anything. it's the one in the northwest that we're watching. that's going to be the player for saturday and then we're going to see a piece of energy coming up the coastline just like we did last weekend. possibly for christmas day. we'll be basically in the low to mid-40s across the area. on thursday the coldest day of the week winter starts and we're going. to be in the upper 30s and low 40s across the area. and then we head into friday. e we could see that rain. we're going to be close to 50 degrees on friday. after that we go on the wild ride. 60 on saturday. down to near freezing by the time we get into late christmas morning. let's go ahead and take a look at your forecast for the christmas weekend. here in saturday with 60 as your high. 47 on sunday. it will be cooler. we'll drop to 37 overnight. that's where we start christmas morning at 37. temperatures fall to 25. that's the day we're watching the eagles game. we could see snow possible out there. early in the morning across the entire philadelphia area a light dusting of snow. 32 at 8:00. we could see flurries out there and it's going to be bitterly cold. 38 in philadelphia. 37 on the jersey shore. let's look at tomorrow. basically a comfortable day but not as warm as today. your ten-day says it we'll see you at 6:30 for that. two recent biken accidents in philadelphia have many asking for more protection on bike lanes. >> the driver said they want bikers to obey the same traffic laws. it's going to take a real effort from both sides to make the streets safer for all. >> reporter: bikers in philadelphia linked arms and formed a manmade protective shield. standing right on a bike lane using themselves as a symbol for a safer place to ride. >> bikers definitely take their liberties. >> reporter: are drivers to blame? today nbc 10 cameras watched as a few bikers ran red lights. drew bikes every day in philadelphia and admits to using the idaho stop. >> a quick glance. if there's no cars, i ride through. i have run into some close calls before. it's definitely the risk you take. >> reporter: the relationship between bikers and drivers is -- >> definitely a tenuous relationship. >> reporter: he'd like to see safety become a bigger priority. >> a barrier would be cheap enough and easy enough. >> reporter: nobody is paying attention to the painted lines. they are worn off. edward has biked and drin in the city. close calls with both. >> walking with the light and someone blew through the red light on a bike and almost hit me. >> reporter: he says it's not about us versus them. everyone needs to exercise more caution. >> philadelphia drivers are bad drivers generally. and they are extremely aggressive, generally. they are really oblivious, generally. but i can say exactly the same thing about philly bikists. >> reporter: reporting in center city, steven fisher, nbc we're talking to the victim's family and finding out how the killer may have gotten inside. plus choir class crime. a teacher charged with abusing a and the search for any oh victims. this breaking news right now at 6:00, a great grandfather stabbed to death inside his home in west philadelphia. and police want to know who did it. aaron just spoke to the victim's family and is getting an update from police. do we know how the killer got inside the home? >> reporter: right now, that's what they are trying to figure out. how did that suspect get inside. they say there are signs of force, but they don't know if that is forced entry or forced exit when that suspect ran away from the house. we know that 85-year-old according to his family was stabbed to death around 2:30 this afternoon. as you can see behind me, detectives are still on the scene looking for any clues or any evidence as to why this happened. here's a photo of the 85-year-old. he's a great grandfather. i'm told he's lived on this block his entire life. hee he was living alone. he did everything for his neighbors. he would help them out and give them a helping hand whenever they needed anything. but right now, they are trying to figure out how that suspect got inside this house. when the victim was stab bed to death around 2:30 this afternoon we talked to a whole bunch of relatives. they are devastated. they are trying to figure out why this happened. >> he was a good man. he helped everybody on the block. >> reporter: pure shock, you can hear it in her voice. we had the chance to talk to his grandson who was also devastated. just the whole belief is is why. why did this happen. they want this person caught as soon as possible. this has been the scene for the past 45 minutes or so. detectives here actively searching for clues. actively searching for this killer. we'll continue to be here throughout the night and if anything breaks, we'll bring that right to you. at 6:00 the biggest tax overhaul in a
