The outage, the power outage lasted for hours yesterday. It canceled hundreds of outgoing flights. The problem triggered a travel nightmare across the country including nearly two dozen canceled flights from philadelphia. Stranded passengers had mixed reactions about the problems. We havent gotten an email or text. Im surprised about that. Get a different flight because the system is down. This is a mess. Santa claus and mrs. Claus came around ringing bells and personing us a merry and wishing us a merry christmas. Lightened the mood a little bit. Power Officials Say an underground fire caused extensive damage to the electrical system. Yesterdays power outage is impacting flights at Philadelphia National airport this morning. Reporter the good news is that some flights are back up and on time as we see on the departures boards. You see the Early Morning hustle and bustle here at airport. People in line for delta. Theres also a Spirit Airlines flight heading to atlanta that is scheduled to be on time for later this morning. As we look at the departures board, we see early flights, 5 15, 6 00, 7 00 on time. There are cancelations for later this morning. There are lingering effects because of the power outage yesterday. Upwards of 300 flights in and out of atlanta for delta. Thats what they are reporting this morning. And delta is the largest carrier at the airport. The airline is particularly feeling the effects of the power outage. Delta says it is hoping to get back to a normal flight schedule this afternoon. Weve been talking with people for the past 24 hours who have been feeling the effects. Heres what one had to say about trying to find accommodations last night. Had to caught friends to pick me up. I hate to do that because theyre elderly. But im not going to sleep on the floor here. If you are flying to atlanta or connecting from philadelphia, this airport here simply thats you should keep checking with your airline for the status of your flight. Weve been seeing a lot of changes since the outage happened. Weve been talking with the travelers who had been stuck here overnight. Another traveler said she was hoping for the best. Of course, a busy Holiday Travel season. The long line traveling to not just atlanta, but people at the ticketing counters for delta and spirit to get to holiday destinations. This is a busy time. Investigators say the victim was selling sneakers when the shooter opened fire and then took off. The victim remains in critical conditi condition. He will undergo rehab and physical therapy in arizona after getting treatment at walter reed for a viral infection. The womans fiance said he was on the phone with her because she was worried that a man had followed her out of a store. He heard a scream and then the phone was cut off. Philadelphia Police Police captured the suspect when they arrested him for another crime. Doctors will have to wire the victims mouth shut and reconstruct parts of her face for her to properly heal. While officers were searching for hodges, they found another man who had been shot in the arm. Police found the gun along with two other victims who had also been shot. In Chester County, police are looking for two men who tied up employees and robbed a mobile store in detailsworth town crossing dillsworth town crossing. Two men walked in and ordered employees to the back of the store. One man had a gun. The second tied up two of three employees inside. They got away with cell phones and tablets. This past week marked five years since the mass shooting at sandy hook elementary school. And last night in cherry hill, the community paid tribute to the victims at the Unitarian Universalist church. Members of the Brady Campaign to prevent gun violence and million mom march held a commemoration. Young people and their parents talked about and shared letters written to legislators about gun violence and lost loved ones.
