they're up in the lehigh valley. it feels like a balmy 44 degrees this morning. 19 in philadelphia is your windchill. radar is quiet. no accumulating snow for today. there could be a passing flurry in the poconos. temperatures in the upper 30s. i'll go through the rest of the area in a bit. drivers will need to be extra cautious heading out the door this morning. >> a live look at 95 and south philly. making sure it melted once it hit the ground. what was wet could have turned into ice overnight. speed restrictions are in place. that is also the case on the walt whitman, commodore and betsy ross bridge. if you are heading out, take your time and move slowly. we are keeping an eye on the slick conditions this morning. >> some of that froze over. >> we know there are narrow side streets. maybe the plows and crews didn't get to or couldn't get to. lauren? >> reporter: rosemary and dray, you want to be careful, the roads, the sidewalks, the parking lot. i drove to work this morning and almost slipped once i got out of my car. those major roads look really good. take a look at areas like this. this is a big incline here and imagine how slowly you need to take this. there is ice under there. my photographer and i have walked this, slid in areas to see how slick it is. it is over here if you want to turn around, i have a grip on my one boot. you can see just how slick this is. this is ice here. these folks will be pulling their cars out and maybe heading to church or out to do grocery shopping today. that's the kind of thing you need to be watching for because you may not even be able to see it. it is under there and could be dangerous. i'm lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. in montgomery county the first snow of the season started out lightly. neighbors in willow grove saw about 3 inches by the end of the day. and in philadelphia people were hard at work scraping snow with shovels and wiping the fluffy flakes off their cars. a steady snowfall kept the sidewalks covered most of the day. this morning's slippery road conditions. download the nbc 10 app for instant updates and alerts. 6:05. philadelphia police are trying to find the motive behind a murder outside of a row home. investigators say someone came out of the house just after 12:30 and found a man shot to death it. no calls to report gunshots. they found shell casings at the scene. now to a story in kent county breaking news yesterday morning. state police are still investigating after a trooper shot and killed a teen in dover. police say the trooper pulled over this car. three teenagers were inside. a 16-year-old flashed a gun that triggered a shoot-out. the driver was hit in the leg, was treated at the hospital and released. the trooper was uninjured. >> two people are dead and two others hurt after a plane crashed in san diego. investigators say the pilot reported engine failure shortly after taking off yesterday afternoon. the pilot tried to land in an open area of the schoolyard. no one was in the home at the time and no one was hurt. >> out west for the latest on the devastating california wildfires. this is the latest brush fire to break out. it swept over the hills last night. firefighters did get control of this one relatively quickly. they're now watching for hot spots. no homes were damaged here. crews are still battling wildfires. they expect to continue to be on the fire lines until christmas. santa ana winds are expected to pick up again today. about 1,000 buildings have been destroyed. many families' homes were spared are feeling survivor guilt. >> i feel guilty because my house is here and my neighbors are not. >> the military is bringing in its big guns. the navy sent two seahawk helicopters to help. the department of defense even activated about 1,300 members of the california national guard to contain the wildfires. 6:07 right now on this sunday. still ahead, you may know the words by heart but the pope is contemplating a change to the lord's prayer. >> people are like, i thought obamacare was dead. >> but it's not. and the deadline to sign up looming at the end of the week. why enrollment numbers are actually up. these officers on a mission. they're on a dry run to deliver toys to hospitalized kids in our area. learn about the event dreamed up by a brave little girl and how you can help others tomorrow morning on nbc 10 news today starting at 4:00 a.m. i'm first alert meteorologist steve sosna. we usually get about 2 inches the entire month. yesterday we had a record breaker. we had 4.1 inches. never on december 9th have we seen that much snow. no snow out there now. south philadelphia, 3 inches of snow. 28 degrees. let's walk you through the day ahead. temperatures will climb into the upper 30s. the lehigh valley, mid-20s to mid-30s by lunch time. down into delaware, new jersey, you had snow cover on the ground. upper 30s. i have to walk you through a big temperature plunge. thanks for that, steve. a dress rehearsal for a holiday tradition. a dry run at george washington's crossing of the river. a day of activities gets under way at 10:00. 6:12 right now. you doan have much left if you plan to sign up under the affordable care act and enrollment is up. those details next. toasting dad: i'm not one for speeches. but here's to... to many more years of friendship. and feasts! crowd: [laughing, cheering] to presents! a mi familia que lo es todo. ♪ to being right here, right now, with you. sfx: dog bark. and you. toasting dad: i guess what i'm trying to say is, here's to family. we're proud to bring your family amazing value every day. t.j. maxx. marshalls. homegoods. family is the greatest gift. do you need the most trusted battery this holiday? administration's slashing of funds for outreach programs and cutting the signup period in half. >> obamacare is dead. >> reporter: still, enrollment numbers are up. an estimated 3.6 americans have already signed up and the number is expected to rise. with the december 15th deadline to enroll only a week away, experts say this year's total number could fall short of last year's 12.2 million and some states are extending the enrollment period. for those relying on auto enrollment there's a catch. >> the problem is premiums are so weird this year that you might get assigned to a plan not the best deal for you. >> many waiting to the last minute may not be able to get the help they need. >> things get crushed to the end. people trying to sign up may not be able to. >> reporter: as the champs. they won the d1 title in florida by shutting out the raleigh bulldogs 28-0. this was a very emotional year for the team which dedicated its season to coach wayne allen who died in february. your division 1 champions the raiders beat the pompano beach chiefs finishing the season a perfect 14-0. this is the team's fourth straight year winning the super bowl. it may be snow and chilly here you are prepared for the conditions outside. we've extended our first alert into this morning until 10:00 because of the slick conditions. >> so the national weather service has dropped all their advisories but we want to keep your attention out there. while there may not be snow falling in your neighborhood it doesn't mean that you can get through your morning with your normal routine at the same speed you may do so. the cul-de-sacs in the neighborhood. all that snow either compacted and is now ice or it's just slushy outside. now as you walk out the you'll notice immediately the breeze. that will be with us all day long today and it's not a mild breeze either. the feels like temperatures right now across our area are just downright frigid to the north. 10 in allentown. in the upper teens to low 20s which doesn't sound terribly cold f. you're outside it will start to wear you down. by 9:00 a.m. we're in the upper 30s. and that's where we'll hang out for of the day today. coming with snow. we can expect there probably is underneath there. so that's something folks will want to be careful of. you really just don't know what is under whatever you're seeing on the ground. as we street and drove off. it happened on frankfurt around 2:00 this morning. police are looking for a gray or silver older model f-150 pickup truck. they're checking to see if the driver was caught on tape. in delaware county two teens are refrom a shooting in chester. police say bullets fired from a moving car on west 12th street injuring a 15 and 16-year-old. police have made no arrests. and another double shooting in chester also happened last night. police say gunfire from a moving car hit two men on west 3rd street. medics took both to the hospital. one is in serious condition. someone shot a woman as she was getting out of her car on brown street. she's in good condition. investigators are looking at the possibility the shootings were related. we now have pictures from lease in camden county of someone wanted for questioning in a supermarket smoke bombing. according to police thick smoke filled the shoprite. they called in the bomb squad and evacuated customers. officers found what they're calling a suspicious smoke bomb. the supermarket reopened. nobody here was hurt. 6:35 right now on this sunday, 29 degrees outside. decorating your ride, looking to get into the who but this year there's a special effort to make the shows sensory friendly for audience members with autism and other communication differences. the nut cracker runs through new year's eve. today nearly a dozen chestnut hill businesses are teaming up. >> they're donating a portion of today's sales to support the philadelphia interstate hospitality network. each will offer refreshments and they're up in the lehigh valley. it feels like a balmy 44 degrees this morning. 19 in philadelphia is your windchill. radar is quiet. no accumulating snow for today. there could be a passing flurry in the poconos. temperatures in the upper 30s. i'll go through the rest of the area in a bit. drivers will need to be extra cautious heading out the door this morning. >> a live look at 95 and south philly. making sure it melted once it hit the ground. what was wet could have turned into ice overnight. speed restrictions are in place. that is also the case on the walt whitman, commodore and betsy ross bridge. if you are heading out, take your time and move slowly. we are keeping an eye on the slick conditions this morning. >> some of that froze over. >> we know there are narrow side streets. maybe the plows and crews didn't get to or couldn't get to. lauren? already signed up and the number is expected to rise. with the december 15th deadline to enroll only a week away, experts say this year's total number could fall short of last year's 12.2 million and some states are extending the enrollment period. for those relying on auto enrollment there's a catch. >> the problem is premiums are so weird this year that you might get assigned to a plan not the best deal for you. >> many waiting to the last minute may not be able to get the help they need. >> things get crushed to the end. people trying to sign up may not be able to. >> reporter: as the champs. they won the d1 title in florida by shutting out the raleigh bulldogs 28-0. this was a very emotional year for the team which dedicated its season to coach wayne allen who died in february. your division 1 champions the raiders beat the pompano beach chiefs finishing the season a perfect 14-0. this is the team's fourth straight year winning the super bowl. it may be snow and chilly here you are prepared for the conditions outside. we've extended our first alert into this morning until 10:00 because of the slick conditions. >> so the national weather service has dropped all their advisories but we want to keep your attention out there. while there may not be snow falling in your neighborhood it doesn't mean that you can get through your morning with your normal routine at the same speed you may do so. the cul-de-sacs in the neighborhood. all that snow either compacted and is now ice or it's just slushy outside. now as you walk out the you'll notice immediately the breeze. that will be with us all day long today and it's not a mild breeze either. the feels like temperatures right now across our area are just downright frigid to the north. 10 in allentown. in the upper teens to low 20s which doesn't sound terribly cold f. you're outside it will start to wear you down. by 9:00 a.m. we're in the upper 30s. and that's where we'll hang out for of the day today. coming with snow. we can expect there probably is underneath there. so that's something folks will want to be careful of. you really just don't know what is under whatever you're seeing on the ground. as we street and drove off. it happened on frankfurt around 2:00 this morning. police are looking for a gray or silver older model f-150 pickup truck. they're checking to see if the driver was caught on tape. in delaware county two teens are refrom a shooting in chester. police say bullets fired from a moving car on west 12th street injuring a 15 and 16-year-old. police have made no arrests. and another double shooting in chester also happened last night. police say gunfire from a moving car hit two men on west 3rd street. medics took both to the hospital. one is in serious condition. someone shot a woman as she was getting out of her car on brown street. she's in good condition. investigators are looking at the possibility the shootings were related. we now have pictures from lease in camden county of someone wanted for questioning in a supermarket smoke bombing. according to police thick smoke filled the shoprite. they called in the bomb squad and evacuated customers. officers found what they're calling a suspicious smoke bomb. the supermarket reopened. nobody here was hurt. 6:35 right now on this sunday, 29 degrees outside. decorating your ride, looking to get into the who great way to entertain the kids. to the delaware beaches now, this was the scene in rehoboth beach. the boardwalk covered in a lot of snow. santa is getting much-needed help from hard-working elves. yesterday's snow didn't stop volunteers from hanning out more than 1,200 toys. the toys went to patients in the hospital. we love these kinds of videos. this is video of tito's first time in the snow. this little guy nice and snug in his warm coat. writing that tito just returned to delaware from california. they had to leave because of the wild first from one extreme to another tito enjoying you're on the main interstates, mainly okay. it's the back roads, the secondary roads and out and about i heard a few people talking about that. it is slippery in your back neighborhoods. to 10:00 this morning the temperatures will be below freezing and so that's where you'll have that icy chance. this is the arctic blast. we'll have more details on that, of course, throughout the day and i'll be back with you at 6:00 and the latest on that second storm. it's 39 degrees for the high today. we're up to 41 tomorrow. 44 on tuesday. just when you feel the milder air, not for long. with winds gusting 40 miles an hour it will feel like the teens and single numbers. thursday will be a cold as well. the snow guns are going nonstop and i just checked the websites up there. good news for the skiers and the snowboarders. this season will not be delayed. it's 25 in blandon. in the lower 20s for my friends in bethlehem. this is a morning that you want to dress in layers. dust off all the snow. feels like 19 in wilmington and 22 in dover. in berks county, these are the totals. they overachieved. there was another plume of moisture that rode up to the west and dumped 7 to 8 inches. john clark has more from the west coast. >> the eagles will be playing the rams in l.a. for the first time in 27 years and doug pederson said he wanted to see better practices this week than he saw last week, and he says the practices here at angels stadium were better this week. take a look at the birds practicing. these teams are so evenly matched the eagles and rams have scored the exact same amount of points this season. they're the top two offenses in the league averaging 30 points a game. the defenses are both top six giving up around 18 points a game. the rams are favored here, one game behind the eagles in the nfc race. the eagles say they will respond. >> we all hate to lose. that's always been the thing with us. we've always had the same focus, the same energy, the same
