than 20 years. additional sexual misconduct allegations surfaced. the allegations too severe for the million dollar anchor to continue working with the k. in his written statement lauer says there are no words to express my sore reand regret from the pain i have caused others. to the people i have hurt i am truly sorry. as i am writing this i realize the disappointment i have left behind at home and at nbc. some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized. there is enough truth to the story to make me feel embarrass embarrassed and ashamed. repairing the damage will take a lot of time and soul searching. i'm committed to beginning that effort. it is now my full time diop. the last two days forced me to take a hard look at my own troubling flaws. i am blessed to be surrounded by the people i love. i thank them for their patience and grace. today we spoke to fans of the show who expressed both disappointment and sympathy. >> it is really sad to hear. i have conyers says conyers is in the hospital. he told a detroit television state he did not know why conyers was in the hospital. he denies the olallegations. connier conyers is the longest servinger of the u.s. congress. stepping aside from his company after being accused of sexual assault. she told her story in a first person -- he didapologize. breath of fresh air, right? let's take a look degrees. to the south nice and clear of any wet weather. still clouds lingering. look at those temperatures. middle 50s. this afternoon we'll get a nice sunny afternoon with a few scattered clouds, partly sunny skies. low to mid-50s for the afternoons. more sunshine than clouds and completely dry during the day today. winds will stay light. temperatures are climbing. it will be warmer at the shore. partly sunny skies. we are already seeing that in wilmington. high temperature closer to 60 today. we will be dry during the day but if you're out this evening you'll likely need your umbrella. look to the west. here is a cold front that will be moving in tonight. that will bring us clouds late this afternoon. first we'll start to increase during the late afternoon hours. rain drops will hold off later in the evening. steady rain expected as it moves through the ohio valley and western pennsylvania. by 8:00 this evening that line of showers isapart. a few light showers and some of it heading into the mountains where it will only be rain. it will be too warm for anything other than rain late this evening. tammy is updating the first alert forecast. she'll be tracking a few showers we got mixed reaction from long-time today show fans. >> you know i think it can. i think depending on the circumstances -- i don't know all of them, i think it iscan. >> i hope he can. >> would you watch him? >> i don't know about that. i don't know. we'll have to wait and see if he is sincere. >> reporter: now, last night was a very big night for nbc here in midtown manhattan with the lighting of the annual christmas tree here. lauer was supposed to be part of this event. nbc did all that it can to prevent it from overshadowing that event. nbc 10 news. authorityings charged a man who got involved in a lover's quarrel. the suspect shot a man to death. the suspect faces a murder charge. he fired three shots at the victim whether or not he had been arguing with a woman. they began a debate on a sweeping overhall. this -- overhaul. some republicans are concerned the current version could as as a deficit. presidential son-in-law kushner reportedly faced questions from mueller's team. they 1kd him about michael flynn with a meeting with a russian ambassador. this is a live look at the building being built in center city philadelphia. we'll warm up today into the 50s. some rain is in the forecast. bill henley is here to tell us about it. >> we'll be dry during the day. i'm tracking some rain. light evening showers moving through later this evening into early tomorrow morning. the good news is the rain will be out of the picture for the tree lighting on wednesday evening. it will be clear and chilly. temperatures in the 40s. the weekend looking pretty nice too. it will warm into the 50s for both days. we are doing that right now for our area. look at cape may. it is really cleared out this morning. this is one of the warmer spots. cape may courthouse is 57 degrees right now. it is 53 at summers point. going inland and many are still in the 40s. those neighborhoods will also see the temperatures climb into the 50s. we'll see a pretty mild -- the normal high is 50. we'll be beyond that during the day today. see how nice and mild it stays?
