As i talk to people here in new york today, they were still taking this news in. They either got it by watching the today show this morning, maybe looking at their phones, getting it from the news or from social media. And they are still coming to terms with it. Shocked. Shocked. He has been with the company for, what, over 20 years, right . So its just a shocker. As a woman, like most of us have experienced something inappropriate in our lifetime. I guess its good that people are coming to the realization now that its not right and it does affect people. I noticing that people are almost sort of taking his side because hes so loved. Theyre like, i dont want to accept it, i would rather keep matt lauer and these beloved people. I think that brings a very interesting aspect to it as well, which i think also adds to why he has been able to get away with it for so long. Today President Trump is pushing the republican tax reform plan in the nations heartland. Within the last hour President Trump touched down in st. Charles, missouri. He delivered a speech at the Convention Center on the gops plans for tax reform. The president thanked congressional leaders for getting the plan passed and says the American People will benefit once the senate follows suit. Here at home dozens of graduate students at the university of pennsylvania held a rally against the gop tax plan. They are speaking out in opposition to the house proposal that they say would increase taxable income for graduate students. They argue the new plan would make graduate education financially unaffordable for students. New details on a deadly shooting on drexel universitys campus. Police say theyre interviewing a person of interest, a 21yearold was shot and killed overnight on lancaster avenue. He wasnt a student. Officers say the man was organizing with his girlfriend when a bystander heard the commotion and shot the man three times. The man accused of the killing of a Temple University student is in court facing a judge. His preliminary hearing started this morning. We checked and its still going on right now. He accused of picking up jenna burley in a bar, killing her, hiding her body in a family garage in wayne county, hours away. In less than an hour people in center city come together to remember a bicyclist killed in a crash. This comes as bike riders are calling for safety changes along city streets. During the morning commute members of the Biking Community formed a barrier along the bike lane at 11th and spruce in a demonstration to show the need for more protection. This is the same intersection where a trash truck hit and killed a woman on a bicycle yesterday morning. The gold medal sanitation truck stayed on the scene as police investigated the collision. Medics rushed 24yearold emily fr frederiks to the hospital. She died a short time later. People who bike in the city want upgrades. In other cities there are concrete barriers. Today Kathleen Rice called on him to resign, but his son is defending his father. Its unfortunate to see him fight so long for so many people and to automatically have allegations assumed true. And of course, with Sexual Assault women are to be believed but in this instance he has no history of this. The congressman has stepped down as a Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee amid an ethics investigation but paul ryan says no one working in congress should be subjected to threatening behavior. The fact that some people end up walking these halls and are subjected to a threatening or hostile Work Environment when they came here to serve their country, to serve their ideals, thats wrong. Ryan says congress is taking the issue of Sexual Harassment very seriously. He says congressman conyers made the right call to step down from his committee post. This afternoon on capitol hill, lawmakers are expected to vote on a Sexual Harassment bill. It would require each member, officer and employee of the house of representatives to complete Sexual Harassment training every year. Bob brady managed the legislation on the house floor. Former usa gymnastics dr. Larry nassar pleaded guilty to three more charges of krocrimin Sexual Conduct with children. Last week he pleaded guilty to similar charges with seven girls in another michigan county. Team usa gold medalists have each said they were sexually molested by nasser. In Montgomery County there is a new resource available for victims of Domestic Violence. Nicoles place at laurel house held a Ribbon Cutting this morning. It was named after nicole pepperman, a mother of three who was killed by her husband. Her family, friends and church teamed up to raise money and open the center in the marketplace at huntington valley. The goal is to offer support and services for those dealing with Domestic Violence and to prevent future tragedies. More than a dozen members of a College Fraternity will spend the next 18 months on probation. 15 members of the fraternity were sentenced for their role in the death of chun michael dang. He died during an initiation ritual in 2013. Reporter renata brown lives at this Apartment Building where police say a man in his early 20s stabbed and burned a young woman he met for the first time after forming a friendship online. In 2016 there were more than 16,000 abductions, 100 murders and thousands of rapes committed by internet predators. Be very careful of who you meet in person, you know. Officials at Central High School announced plans for a 42 million expansion and renovation project. Former graduate joseph field is donating 10 million to the project. He is the founder of Intercom Communications corporation. Phase one of the project is scheduled to begin in january of 2019.
