surrounded by close friend of the victim. a man shot him in the head as smith grabbed a drink at the bar near closing time. the gunman ran off. >> he exited the apple bees and entered a dark colored suv. >> reporter: anderson shared this video with nbc10. showing the pair dancing about a yore ago. >> he was a great person. a great friend. a great partner. >> reporter: friends and loved ones say the man in the video and the pictures was the life of the party. with countless friend and no known enemies. sglt they were always so happy. and lively. i don't know who could have done it. >> reporter: arrived late tonight to deliver balloons releasing some in the air. he considered smith his little brother. taken from his family, his young daughter and his friends far too soon. >> just don't feel real. i do miss him. i don't know what kind of monster would do this. >> the prosecutor says his office is woshlging on several promising leads. so far, no arrests. >> new at 11 a pregnant woman is shot just hours before her due date. family members have identified the victim. police say she was shot in the leg by a woman who lives next door. in their oxford circle neighborhood. this is not the first time officers have been called to the home. a neighbor says she worried about her daughters safety. >> i have a 4 year-old and her safety comes first. that is scares me the most the safety for my kid. it's scary. >> the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. the 43 year-old shooter is in police custody. new details on a doctor accused of fondling his patients. tonight more women are describing interactions with him. we spoke with him tonight. live outside the doctors office. >> as soon as this information came out this afternoon, a third woman who went to the doctors office right across the street called 911. whent over to police claiming she was also a victim. i can tell you there's one person tonight defending this doctor. >> reporter: some former patients tell nbc10 he made them feel uncomfortable. one woman says she would bring her boyfriend tht room every time she went for a check up. another told us she switched doctors because he touched her thigh in a weird way. the 82 year-old is accused of indoni indecent assault by two women. >> you have never had issues. >> not at all. >> reporter: this woman was at his office last thursday. she says he never fondled her and claimed he always had another woman in the room because he was hard of hearing in both ears. >> i thought he was harmless. >> would you continue going to him still. >> i think so. he never did anything to me. >> reporter: we stopped by the doctors house tonight. no one came to the door. chief tells us this investigation stems from accusations in july and november. the women are 25 and 52. claim the 82 year-old would fondle them over the bra. before trying to go underneath. >> he whispered in her ear. this is good. she pushes him away. upset. >> tonight we're told that this doctor is a affiliated with mercy health system. they leased a statement saying they're taking the allegations very seriously. >> new details about a shooting rampage in northern california. which left four people dead. and injured several others including small children. it happened in the rural community of 130 miles north of sacramento. the rampage covered seven hoe contaminations including a school. the targets were chosen at random. the shooter was killed by police about 45 minutes after it started. this could have been a lot worse. the sheriff office credits workers who initiated a lock down at the school. with saving lives. authorities say a philadelphia police officer was involved in a plot to sell cocaine and heroin. officer was arrested today accused of conspireing with colleagues in baltimore to sell drugs seized by a police task force. snel will be suspended and plan to fire him from the force. a gun scare sent parents scrambling to a middle school in the northeast. over wood row wilson where a student reported seeing a gun tonight. that school was placed on lock down. while officers went room by room. it lasted about four hours until authorities gave the all clear. no weapon was recovered. a husband, a father and a teammate. this afternoon roy halladay was remembered as all three. the ace died a week ago today. in plane without me. >> former teammates looked back. others looked forward. >> she's got two great kids around her. like in just who the make up of the family. and the love they had for one another. it will go a long way. >> he has changed my life. and not only as a player but as a person. >> reporter: the count maybe full. so are the halladays hearts. >> no matter what, we never stop. this is what we two sons about what their dad meant to him. coming up in sports. a last second move in the gop tax bill has democrats cryi crying foul tonight. republicans want to get rid of the mandate which requires the americans to have health insurance. republicans say this will lower the over all cost of the tax package and allow middle class tax breaks. but critics say removing the mandate would cause healthy people to leave the insurance market. and drive up premiums. the plan has already sparked democratic out rage. pennsylvania senator slammed this latest move. >> so the same bad tax bill got a lot worse. because of what they're trying to do. trying to ram this through. that's why this is like a thief in the night. ripping away healthcare from people. and jacking up taxes at the same time. >> the congressional budget office says preeling the individual mandate will cost 13 million people insurance over ten years. >> update tonight on the man accused of leaving his son to die after a crash in bucks county. christopher coop is facing dui charges. he had drugs in his system the day he crashed killing his son. officers were chasing him after he stole from a walmart. his two year-old was thrown from the car. prosecutors said there was a working car seat in the car. he's charged with third degree murder. in the lee high valley an attempted kidnapping at a college. a student claims she was grabbed by a stranger this morning. she screamed and the man ran away. he drove off in a light blue older model sedan. police believe the suspect is linked to similar incidents involving students from the bethlehem school district. major safety lapses in dozens of unsafe work conditions. the ntsb says a weak safety culture led to an am track crash that killed two workers last year. one of the big issues of the failure to reroute trains away from the work zone. officials say a dispatcher was on a personal call. when the crash happened. three employees including the victims and the train engineer tested positive for drugs. the train was heading from new york to georgia. 40 passengers were hurt in the crash. am track says it's been making changes to the protocol since the crash. and safety is its number one priority. legendary singer sold millions of records and won more than a half dozen grammy's. tonight, she's being recognized for her humanitarian work. she was at the center in center city. to receive the award. throughout her 50 plus year career, she's worked to raise awareness for world hunger and serve td as the united nations ambassador. nearly heads to wa wa on the roosevelt boulevard for free coffee. great local story and plenty of fun. tomorrow starting at 4:00 a.m. for using their debit cards at a gas station. the reason, skimming devices. police say at least six devices were found on tops at the top star gas station. and at least 20 people have lost money. skimming devices work by stealing your debit card and pin information. thieves are able to hide them inside the card reader. authorities recommend not using debit cards at gas stations pumps. >> new castle county police say someone is making phone calls today care centers trying to get information about children. a man called facilities in middle town claiming that he's trying to identify a lost child. investigators say he tells workers he believes the child is under the facility care. and tries to get personal information. officials are warning other facilities to be on the lookout. >> a man who has been going in the water off the jer see shore over the last four decade says he has never seen anything like this. a very happy excited brian. screaming for joy. after this hump back whale swam just inches from him. brian was paddle boarding and spotted this could bring showers late tomorrow night. and into thursday. let's go ahead and walk you through this. by tomorrow morning yul be in the low to mid-30s in philadelphia. low 30s out lying areaing. 29 at mount. things will be chilly. 40s along the jersey shore. clouds will start to move in tomorrow afternoon. we'll make it to the low 50s in philadelphia. cooler. upper 40s in the out lying areas. and here comes the chance of showers. that system moving across the ohio valley and parts of midwest. that is going to come through. bringing scattered showers before dawn on thursday. exiting after the morning commute. then on thursday we make it to the mid-50s. that's a seasonal as we'll get. this week. things cool down behind that. and look at friday. we only make it into the 40s. plen it of one of the most famous women in our area. lisa thomas-laury. >> she was a trusted source for news. until an illness robbed her of her strength ask her voice. she's speaking out about drug addiction she struggled with while trying to recover. >> she sat down with us. >> i became addicted to the painkillers. that was a real eye opener. >> reporter: for the first time on television. lisa thomas-laury is opening up about the opioid addiction that crept up without warning. >> this thing came out of nowhere. >> first it was the debilitating illness that took her off the anchor desk at the height of her career. then the depend si on ox si continuen that followed. a fixture in the news landscape since 1979, says she wasn't an addict. >> ten milligrams twice a day. then it's up to 20 milligrams. four times a day. >> that's what happens. you develop this dependent si on it. when you start trying to manage your own prescription medication. it's not good. i learned that after the fact. i was taking a little bit like i tried to cut off a little third of a pill. just to make me feel comfortable than the ten milligrams. what i think i didn't even realize was i was taking more, a little bit more. a little bit more. until when i missed those doses i even 20 minutes, i was very uncomfortable. >> reporter: in her new book lisa thomas-laury on camera and off. she describes driving out of town for a few hours with her husband. she had forgot her medication. >> nothing settles you down. nothing to calm you down or soothe you. i said can we stop at a hospital and get something to calm me. and no i don't have a license here. you'll be fine. grabbed my hand and i shove it away. i really thought i might open the door and jump out and he puts the kid lock on. and i never want to feel like that again. >> what made you say that i'm making a call? >> i wasn't myself. i knew very clearly that something was wrong. people around you have to be aware because there are signs. >> reporter: she checked ento a two week rehab program. to learn how to control urges. >> did anyone come out and say you're lisa thomas-laury? you don't want to put that out there. >> my husband questioned it. i explained him why i wanted to do it. and he agreed. because we had seen these young people who were in our homes with our children, one particular was like a third son to us. and just to over dose and lose their lives over a problem like this. that just needs to be dealt with. it effects all demographics. even your local anchor woman that you tune in at night and invite into your living room to tell you the news. could have a problem like this. and i hope by sharing that some people realize that's how i feel sometimes. maybe i should get help with this. >> lisa thomas-laury says since rehab she hasn't had an urge at all. for the pills. >> thanks giveneoodness she had insight. and sought out the help. >> it was immediate. >> how's she doing now? >> she's lifing with the chronic illness. she had nerve issues in her leg. and her toes. she said otherwise she's doing well. and just a little bit slower. >> hopefully she'll never feel loik that again. the desperation in
