so temperatures are going to be cooler in the afternoon than what we've been experiencing the last couple days which were the last couple days of my vacation. so nice in the afternoon. not going to be quite as nice today. so here's a look right now at our temperatures. it's still fairly mild start to the morning. a few of us are in the 30s, pottstown checking in at 38, 44 allentown. 48 philadelphia. 49 millville. these temperatures you might want a jacket but won't need a big coat or anything of that extent. the thing is as we get into the later hours of today, it's not going to warm like it has the last few days. so instead of 70s we're going to be talking a little cooler conditions out there with the temperatures mostly in the upper 50s to right around the low 60s. here's a look at radar and satellite. so this picture shows us we have a good bit of clouds overhead right now. today you'll see the clouds thicken through the afternoon hour. a mostly cloudy day but a fairly dry day until this evening. that's when we'll start to bring in a chance of rain as a warm front approaches the area. but that also bumps the temperatures up for tomorrow. winds, well, this is why we're cooler. they're sweeping in from the northeast. even though they're not terribly strong, about 5 to 15 miles per hour, an east flow pushes in cooler northeast air. that's why temperatures today will be down a notch. we'll talk about the ups and downs of our temperatures and when it looks like things plateau in the fall weather coming up in a bit. >> looking forward to it. thanks for that, krystal. participants in the american heart association's annual heart walk will start with layers on this morning because it is chilly out there. this is a live look at citizens bank park where thousands will walk to raise money for research. nbc10's randy gyllenhaal is live in south philadelphia, randy, many of those walking have their own stories of survival. >> reporter: yeah, it is going to be a cold morning here but people say it's worth it for this walk, a three-mile walk starting here at citizens bank park making its way down to the wells fargo center through fdr park. they're going to arrive here in a couple hours. at 8:00 a.m. 15,000 people are expected walking to promote physical activity and heart healthy living. this is the main fund raising event for the american heart association. this year they're hoping to raise $2.5 million. heart disease and stroke are the number one and number five killers of americans. and one of the people walking today is 35-year-old amy cavalier. she learned heart disease can strike with almost no warning to anyone at any time. the busy mom of three woke up one morning with pain in her arm and her chest. and she couldn't breathe. >> having known the signs of heart attack but never in a million years thought it would be me. i'm young, in shape, i don't smoke. i was down receiving cpr and chest compressions for about 45 minutes. >> reporter: her coronary artery had torn in half and she was in a medically induced coma for a week. she's now recovered and walking to promote a few things. one, she wants people to know the signs of a heart attack, wants people to learn cpr and how to use a defibrillator. for now, i'm randy gyllenhaal, nbc10 news. woman rescued from a fire. flames started spreading just before midnight. the woman was trapped on the second floor of her home. firefighters had to use their ladder to reach her. she made it out okay with only minor injuries. crews eventually extinguished the flames. investigators are now looking for the cause of this fire. this morning, we're hearing from four youth football coaches who describe how they hit the ground and ducked for cover beneath cars to avoid gunfire in camden. two of the coaches, calvin johnson and zack worthy, couldn't get away fast enough. johns was shot in the arm, worthy was shot in both legs. the four coaches were putting away equipment at a house near ninth street and chelton avenue in camden following a scrimmage there last week. they tell us when they walked out of the house an unknown gunman fired several shots at them. >> like who's that kid, i turn around and he's laying on the street face first, i think he was more shocked than anything, he said i'm hit, coach, i'm hit. >> all i heard was, pop, pop, next thing i know i was on the ground. i heard coach say i've been hit, i've been hit. >> just five days later nearly a block away camden county police officer patrick o hen len was shot while fighting off an armed teenager. so far no arrests in either case. let's head now to delaware county where police there have searching for a gunman who shot a 73-year-old woman. skyforce 10 was over the scene last night. crews rushed the woman to the hospital. she is expected to survive. we're working to get more details about what led up to this shooting. this weekend, several bucks county communities are on alert as police investigate three child lurings. investigators are trying to figure out if two cases in bristol township and one in yard li are connected. the most recent happened on thursday. a 10-year-old girl told police she was approached by a man who asked her to get in his car. police tell us it was a silver car, but have not released any further details. brownies possibly laced with a dangerous substance may be the reason why some radnor high school students went from a pep rally to the er. police called a news conference last night to warn parents. medics had to rush six students who got sick on thursday night to the hospital for treatment. police say the brownies may have been laced, but they don't know yet what was in it. investigators tell us they found out about the incident from a parent of one of the students. staying in delaware county and radnor township. these three women who flipped over in a car while being chased by police are under arrest on shoplifting and other charges. investigators tell us the suspects stole several thousands dollars worth of bed sheets from a department store yesterday. they then tried to get away from an officer at a traffic stop, but the women ended up hitting another car which caused theirs to flip. according to police one of the suspects then got out and tried to carjack a mother who had her child inside. that's when officers caught up to the trio. this is a live look at the frank rizzo statue near philadelphia city hall. right in front of the municipal services building. it won't be here forever. the city has decided to move the controversial landmark. yesterday city officials announced their decision to remove the ten-foot tall bronze statue. it followed weeks of debate initially sparked by riots in charlottesville, virginia, during white nationalist rally over the removal of a confederate statue. critics call frank rizzo a racist mayor and police commissioner when he served from the late '60s to 1980s. his supporters say he did not single anyone out. >> i think it's an insult to everybody living and dead that contributed to the statue. >> the relocation of the statue doesn't change anything about history, doesn't erase it, doesn't change anybody's legacy. >> city officials have not yet determined a new location for the rizzo statue. they say it may take up to six months to move it. 5:07 right now on this saturday. coming up, murdered over a marriage proposal. police arrest this man in a berks county killing. they finally caught him hundreds of miles away. and a little girl with se rememb -- cerebral palsy is back, the fight over her future is just beginning. the new developments ahead. nobody delivers more for south jersey than steve sweeney. he stood up to north jersey special interests to increase funding for our schools. he stopped christie's commuter tax, saving south jersey residents over 200 million dollars. and he led the charge to pass paid family leave. aarp applauded sweeney for freezing property taxes for seniors and cutting prices on prescription drugs. "i got to take my hat off to him. he's a man of his word." steve sweeney. because there's more work to do to get south jersey's fair share. let's talk about our planner for today. temperatures a little chilly this morning. you'll need a jacket to get outdoors, it's not bitterly cold, at least not yet. but the ten-day forecast we get to in a while, pretty chilly next week. rest of today though 52 about 11:00 a.m. and then my 3:00 in the afternoon we're up to 58 in philadelphia. we're going to flirt right at the 60 degree line for the high today. this is very close to average for this time of year, the average high being 60 degrees. in the suburbs 43 around 7:00 a.m. increasing clouds into the afternoon, i think maybe a peek of sun still possible but leaning towards mostly cloudy throughout our afternoon hours. 56 at 3:00 p.m. in the suburbs. that's nearly the same in parts of the lehigh valley and berks county. but the good news is if you do have plans outside as long as you got a few layers on you should be good outdoors because we're going to remain dry through the daytime hours. in delaware 45 at 7:00 a.m. about 58 at 3:00. again, just like parts of philadelphia, delaware and new jersey will flirt with 60 degrees this afternoon. even the shore the same deal. you see cloudy conditions by 3:00 in the afternoon. so let's go through our hour by hour model just for today. we've got some clouds out there this morning. they may thicken up a bit starting around your lunchtime and then progressively throughout the afternoon hours especially, mostly cloudy spectrum. this is at 7:00, so dinner plans this evening you're going to be fine. but if you plan to be out later into the evening you may want to keep an umbrella on hand because spotty showers will start to move in overnight. that will continue into your sunday. we're going to talk more about that forecast and what to expect if you're heading to the eagles game coming up in a bit. >> get the umbrellas with a new hash brown scramble bowl from chick-fil-a. this morning we're talking about a parking space dispute that triggered an alleged beating. the incident has a wilmington woman upset and angry at the city council president as nbc10's drew smith explains she believes the councilwoman could have done more to stop it. >> right here in front of the driveway. >> reporter: she and her mother tried to park behind their house in wilmington, but another car was in the way. >> and i said why do we have to wait to park in our parking spot? that's when expletives started. >> reporter: all the people involved here are neighbors, so that's how they knew whose car was blocking the spot. so when they alerted them to that, that's when it got ugly. >> my mother was dragged like a dog. >> reporter: she shared these photos. she says her mother is in a lot of pain after several relatives of wilmington city council president attacked her. >> punched, kicked and dragged in the street. it's something i don't think anyone should have to witness. >> reporter: boss says the councilwoman also witnessed it. the family spoke out at thursday's city council meeting. >> that's a personal incident. >> seen here from government access channel. >> you should be ashamed of yourself to have allowed that to happen. >> reporter: declining an on-camera interviewing acknowledging she was not personally involved but saying it is, quote, now a judicial matter that is current lip under investigation and out of respect for the legal process i have no further comment on the legal matter. she has focused on reducing violence in the city, but when it happened on her own block, boss says the leader did nothing. >> it's absolutely disgusting that my city councilwoman, my president city councilwoman she stood there, she watched. >> reporter: in wilmington, drew smith, nbc10 news. now that halloween is over, some -- i stress some, are already planning ahead for christmas. a montgomery county mall helping them get into the holiday spirit. that's right. we're barely in november but santa's here. he arrived at the montgomery mall last night. jolly old st. nick created a cheering crowd before going in for pictures. i'll keep my comments about how early in the season santa is to myself. let's talk about the temperatures outside this morning. little chilly to start, but not terrible out there. we've got 1:30 on the board and that's 39 degrees in the pennsylvania suburbs. upper 40s as well in our philadelphia neighborhoods. take a look 44 in west mth arie, 42 one of the cooler spots then you see society hill, 45 degrees. bustleton also at 45 degrees. best thing you can do is just stay inside, warm cup of coffee, you're going to be good. and in the afternoon it will not be as warm as the last couple days. it will be all right this afternoon. look at radar and satellite. so we have clouds in place. you can see they're kind of spilling across the area. looks like the lehigh valley, berks, looks like more coverage but that will continue for most of the day. so 58 in center city. somerton you're at 59. upper 50s pennsylvania suburbs, lehigh valley and even berks county in the upper 50s. allentown about 56 this afternoon. so this is going to be cooler than what we've seen the last couple days. this cooldown approaching with some cooler air moving in because we've got this northeast flow of wind. so when you're pulling in air from the northeast, we know that's a colder area so it's going to bring in cooler air to our neck of the woods throughout today. in new jersey 58 in trenton, 60 for ocean city and right near the low 60s for much of delaware as well. let's go through the hour by hour. so i showed you this just a moment ago. increasing clouds through today. some sprinkles starting to approach by tonight. and then spotty showers overnight on into tomorrow morning. so this is at 7:00 a.m. is it a washout? no. but could you see a few showers tomorrow morning? absolutely. and then that chance of some spotty showers mostly diminishes by your lunchtime, but still an isolated sprinkle here or there. not going to rule it out for your sunday daytime hours even in the afternoon. it just looks less likely in the afternoon than in the morning. so let's talk about your weather for the eagles forecast tomorrow. 1:00 kickoff 64 degrees, we are going to be warmer than today. we'll make it to about 66 at halftime. and stay there through 4:00 p.m. winds may be a little breezy to start and we could see like i mentioned a light sprinkle move by. for the most part this is going to be pretty good weather, much better than last sunday. don't forget fall back tonight. sunrise today at 7:34 this morning. look at sunrise tomorrow, 6:35 in the morning. i don't like this. tonight sunset at 5:55. tomorrow sunset at 4:54. just push that clock back before you go to bed this evening. so tomorrow you don't get up too early. we'll talk more about your
