many of us are in the mid, even some upper 50s. 57, northeast philadelphia. 55, philadelphia. almost 60 degrees at the arena. now, nearing 60 in most of our north and west neighborhoods. we are seeing this nice warmup. that is going to continue on into the afternoon. yesterday, mid and upper 70s for forecast highs, way warmer than average. on ton of that radar and satellite, different than yesterday. a few clouds. we are going to have some fog starting to burn off along the shore. a little bit of difference from yesterday. still, a good mix of sun and qulouds as clouds as we go into the afternoon. look to the west. a cold front moving our direction. it is not going to get to us. it won't be until tuesday that we talk rainy weather. it will bring big changes for the workweek. we will talk more about those. a 3-year-old boy is fighting to survive after he was shot inside his own home. ni phil police say his 6-year-old brother pulled the trigger. he was shot in the tyoga neighborhood of philadelphia. randy gyllenhaal is outside. do we know if investigators have learned anymore? parents were not home but they have a lot more questions of where they were and how the kids got ahold of that gun. police tell us the mom and dad were interviewed by a northwest detective sometimes over the past 12 hours or so. the couple's three children were home yesterday afternoon. three, six, and 12 years old. police say the parents were not there when the shooting happened. right now, detectives believe it was the 6-year-old child that found the gun and shot his 3-year-old brother in the forehead. investigators say it happened in an upstairs bedroom of the family's home on 18th street in tioga. >> they have three kids and they live next door, their grandmother did. she passed away. so they live there. this is a shock. i don't know really what happened. >> reporter: doctors are working to save that 3-year-old's life. gun safety advocates here in philadelphia have long urged parents that do own firearms to invest in a gun safe or a gun lock. that kind of thing will prevent these type of trangedies. thanks for that update. new this morning, a driver is under arrest after ditching his car on fretrain tracks in south philadelphia. nbc 10 was on columbus boulevard where police say the driver abandoned his car after a chase with police. he is suspected of driving under the influence. a police officer is hurt after crashing his patrol motorcycle in northeast philadelphia. nbc 10 was on the scene on roosevelt and lubbock street. the crash happened around 12:30 this morning. medics took the officer to the hospital. we are told his injuries are nonlife threatening. police closed the inner lanes of the boulevard while clearing the scene. this morning, it is still not clear what caused the crash. an elite soldier whose death sparked a white house controversy has been laid to rest near his home in florida. the funeral drew more than 1,000 mourners. he and three of his comrades were killed in africa earlier this month. a white house condolence call touched off the back and forth feud between president trump and florida congresswoman fredericka wilson. there was no talk of politics at the funeral. only remembrances of a young soldier, husband, and father gone too soon. no controversy about the four fallen green berets. "the new york times" reports it might not be the entire story. the paper cited u.s. military sources who said the soldiers were seen chasing insurgents before they were killed. congress is demanding more information on counter terrorism mission missions in africa. it will be a top issue on "meet the press." chuck schumer and lindsey graham sit down with moderator, chuck todd. it comes your way at 10:30 right here on nbc 10. it has been more than four weeks after hurricane maria hit puerto rico. still, most people there are without power. about a third of the households in puerto rico have no reliable water source. the five living former presidents of the united states appeared together to raise money for hurricane maria victims. it was part of the "one america" appeal. ♪ >> lady gaga made a surprise appearance at last night's "one america" concert that took place in texas. president trump appeared in a video message. the former presidents launched the initiative to encourage them to about the rain coming up. >> enjoy today. watch as power lines fall in front of a news crew's truck in norman, oklahoma. they were covering a concert put on by the beach boys at a casino when a tornado struck. everyone was evacuated to a storm cell shelter for safety. fortunately, no one was hurt. a disaster on the tracks down south. a train goes off the roads and into buildings. we'll have the details coming up ahead. >> reporter: an alligator in the pool, two suspicious fires. opened access. problems mounting for a shuttered motel on a buzzy gateway. i am ted greenberg with the deadline the city has imposed on the property. a freight train crashed into two buildings housing more than a dozen businesses in nashville, tennessee. no one was hurt. the norfolk southern railway train derailed about 10:00 last night. the crash sent train cars smashing into the nearby buildings. again, housing some 18 businesses. five of them were damaged. the cause of the crash is still under investigation this morning. torksd the new director will speak in philadelphia at one of the annual large police conferences in the world. christopher rabach director after president trump fired james comey. today, ray is expected to talk about reducing violent crime at the international police chief's conference. he said grants will go towards hiring more police officers. the justice department will hire another 230 assistant u.s. attorneys. atlantic city officials are threatening to demolish a shuttered motel along one of the resort gateways. it got a lot of attention when an alligator was found in one of the pools there. ted greenberg has details. >> reporter: it is seen by thousands coming into atlantic city every day. few would consider the closed, bayview inn and suites a welcoming sight. >> it is an eyesore now. it should be torn down. >> reporter: the motel on busy route 40 was shut down for code violations in mid-august when an alligator turned up in the pool following a drug raid. since then, it has been the scene of two suspicious fires. doors to some of the rooms still open. >> it is really a problem because of the fire. >> reporter: zach hosen manages the skyline inn right next door. >> i don't see any security over there. it is very ease yes for people to get in. >> reporter: they say the problems have only gotten worse with piles of tires being illegally dumped on the property. >> it has to be resolved. >> reporter: the director of the city's licensing and inspection department says after a lack of progress by the motel's operator and owner, he has given them a november 12th deadline to secure the property and come up with a concrete plan on its future. >> it is not going to sit, it will be cleaned up by them immediately or demolished by us. >> reporter: the owner says they are weighing options but his client is looking to redevelop the property and hopes to come up with a mutually agreed upon plan with the city before the deadline. >> we them about their seasons. he is in town for the eagles monday night football showdown against washington. his brother is the washington redskins head coach. the eagles kick off against their division rival on monday at 8:30. we'll have live team coverage before and after the game. we'll talk about the game forecast in just a second. we are going to start with those current conditions. this is our radar and satellite view. if we look locally, we have some scattered clouds out there. still a pretty good bit of sunshine overhead. it is still very clear over a good chunk of our region. we are not feeling. i feel like as a defense, we really played well as a whole defense that game. i felt like it wasn't just me. we continue to bring energy throughout that whole game. i felt like that was the have on a football game. he had a lot of pressures. so did brandon graham. they are quite a combo getting after the quarterback. >> you are going to block these two guys. >> he steps up. he is hit. eagles have him back across the 45 yard line. >> watch him push this center all the way back and to the left of cam newton while the pocket just crashes around it. you just can't block him. when you have brandon graham coming off the edge, it is really tough for this offense specially on their right side. they are only able to put one man on fletcher cox. you can't win that way. >> they are getting that push off the middle that helps the end and how about the game-clinching play in washington earlier this season. it was fletcher cox and brandon graham. >> back again goes cousins. picked up on top. he is into the end zone. flushed out, eagles. >> again, 101, fletcher, why should the job he does in wiping the hand of this guard and getting right behind him and into the quarterback's face? this is an outstanding job. kirk cousins has nowhere to go but to try and eat the football. this is just great football, outstanding play by that defense. >> we are seeing the defense closing out games in the fourth quarter, a big improvement from last year. >> as much as you want to see the offense score points, it is the defense that wins championships. i love it when the defense is able certainly celebrating those interceptions last thursday. celebrations have become a staple the last few weeks on the field and in the locker room. they have carried over to the fans. >> for example, after last week, malcolm jenkins was stepping in the panthers locker room, that made bashir shoot this viral video of his pops trying to do the dance. when torrey smith and his teammates made like read hoskins, andrew and his crew decided they could go too. the players and the fans are having a little fan. who better to break down the fun than the man who spent 15 years on "the tonight show," philadelphia's own kevin eubanks. >> i'm kevin eubanks. huge eagles fan. we are actually celebrating. we are going to go through them and we are not going to judge them too harshly. he falls backwards. >> the next eagle is great. i was a little nervous. it was right on the corner there. it was like, don't lose the ball there out of bounds. don't step out of bound. that was nice when he fell back. he didn't get injured. we are celebrating and it was fun. it was in the flow of the game. i think it was really nice. >> he is going deep! it is at the 20, the 15, the 10, the 5, touchdown! the bomb. >> he is at bad, in baseball, the pitch comes, home run. i don't know that was kind of long. i don't know. we might have to edit some of that. that's a long celebration. we always like to met. one thing most people forget about him, he is only 29 years old. the amount of stuff he takes on on top of being a husband and a father, it is phenomenal. >> i want to be able to continue to put our best foot forward and change the stereotypes we have about people who have criminal records or people who have made mistakes before and give these people the best opportunity that they can have to many of us are in the mid, even some upper 50s. 57, northeast philadelphia. 55, philadelphia. almost 60 degrees at the arena. now, nearing 60 in most of our north and west neighborhoods. we are seeing this nice warmup. that is going to continue on into the afternoon. yesterday, mid and upper 70s for forecast highs, way warmer than average. on ton of that radar and satellite, different than yesterday. a few clouds. we are going to have some fog starting to burn off along the shore. a little bit of difference from yesterday. still, a good mix of sun and qulouds as clouds as we go into the afternoon. look to the west. a cold front moving our direction. it is not going to get to us. it won't be until tuesday that we talk rainy weather. it will bring big changes for the workweek. we will talk more about those. a 3-year-old boy is fighting to survive after he was shot inside his own home. ni phil police say his 6-year-old brother pulled the trigger. he was shot in the tyoga neighborhood of philadelphia. randy gyllenhaal is outside. do we know if investigators have learned anymore? parents were not home but they have a lot more questions of where they were and how the kids got ahold of that gun. police tell us the mom and dad were interviewed by a northwest detective sometimes over the past 12 hours or so. the couple's three children were home yesterday afternoon. three, six, and 12 years old. police say the parents were not there when the shooting happened. right now, detectives believe it was the 6-year-old child that found the gun and shot his 3-year-old brother in the forehead. investigators say it happened in an upstairs bedroom of the family's home on 18th street in tioga. >> they have three kids and they live next door, their grandmother did. she passed away. so they live there. this is a shock. i don't know really what happened. >> reporter: doctors are working to save that 3-year-old's life. gun safety advocates here in philadelphia have long urged parents that do own firearms to invest in a gun safe or a gun lock. that kind of thing will prevent these type of trangedies. thanks for that update. new this morning, a driver is under arrest after ditching his car on fretrain tracks in south philadelphia. nbc 10 was on columbus boulevard where police say the driver abandoned his car after a chase with police. he is suspected of driving under the influence. a police officer is hurt after crashing his patrol motorcycle in northeast philadelphia. nbc 10 was on the scene on roosevelt and lubbock street. the crash happened around 12:30 this morning. medics took the officer to the hospital. we are told his injuries are nonlife threatening. police closed the inner lanes of the boulevard while clearing the scene. this morning, it is still not clear what caused the crash. an elite soldier whose death sparked a white house controversy has been laid to rest near his home in florida. the funeral drew more than 1,000 mourners. he and three of his comrades were killed in africa earlier this month. a white house condolence call touched off the back and forth feud between president trump and florida congresswoman fredericka wilson. there was no talk of politics at the funeral. only remembrances of a young soldier, husband, and father gone too soon. no controversy about the four fallen green berets. "the new york times" reports it might not be the entire story. the paper cited u.s. military sources who said the soldiers were seen chasing insurgents before they were killed. congress is demanding more information on counter terrorism mission missions in africa. it will be a top issue on "meet the press." chuck schumer and lindsey graham sit down with moderator, chuck todd. it comes your way at 10:30 right here on nbc 10. it has been more than four weeks after hurricane maria hit puerto rico. still, most people there are without power. about a third of the households in puerto rico have no reliable water source. the five living former presidents of the united states appeared together to raise money for hurricane maria victims. it was part of the "one america" appeal. ♪ >> lady gaga made a surprise appearance at last night's "one america" concert that took place in texas. president trump appeared in a video message. the former presidents launched the initiative to encourage them to help the victims. it shows that americans are strong. >> it can be a new beginning if we just do what we ought to do and prove that the heart of america without regard to race or religion or political temperature in the mid-60s at 11:00 a.m. we will take up to the mid to upper 70s this afternoon. it will be about 69 at 7:00. a mix of clouds and clear conditions. in the suburbs, 72. 73 in the lehigh valley. most areas, mid-70s for high temperatures. mid to upper for new jersey. low to mid for delaware. new jersey, upper 60s and low 70s for highs today. dry and not for much longer. we'll talk about the rain coming up. >> enjoy today. watch as power lines fall in front of a news crew's truck in norman, oklahoma. they were covering a concert put on by the beach boys at a casino when a tornado struck. everyone was evacuated to a storm cell shelter for safety. fortunately, no one was hurt. a disaster on the tracks down south. a train goes off the roads and into buildings. we'll have the details coming up ahead. >> reporter: an alligator in the pool, two suspicious fires. opened access. problems mounting for a shuttered motel on a buzzy gateway. i am ted greenberg with the deadline the city has imposed on the property. a freight train crashed into two buildings housing more than a dozen businesses in nashville, tennessee. no one was hurt. the norfolk southern railway train derailed about 10:00 last night. the crash sent train cars smashing into the nearby buildings. again, housing some 18 businesses. five of them were damaged. the cause of the crash is still under investigation this morning. torksd the new director will speak in philadelphia at one of the annual large police conferences in the world. christopher rabach director after president trump fired james comey. today, ray is expected to talk about reducing violent crime at the international police chief's conference. he said grants will go towards hiring more police officers. the justice department will hire another 230 assistant u.s. attorneys. atlantic city officials are threatening to demolish a shuttered motel along one of the resort gateways. it got a lot of attention when an alligator was found in one of the pools there. ted greenberg has details. >> reporter: it is seen by thousands coming into atlantic city every day. few would consider the closed, bayview inn and suites a welcoming sight. >> it is an eyesore now. it should be torn down. >> reporter: the motel on busy route 40 was shut down for code violations in mid-august when an alligator turned up in the pool following a drug raid. since then, it has been the scene of two suspicious fires. doors to some of the rooms still open. >> it is really a problem because of the fire. >> reporter: zach hosen manages the skyline inn right next door. >> i don't see any security over there. it is very ease yes for people to get in. >> reporter: they say the problems have only gotten worse with piles of tires being illegally dumped on the property. >> it has to be resolved. >> reporter: the director of the city's licensing and inspection department says after a lack of progress by the motel's operator and owner, he has given them a november 12th deadline to secure the property and come up with a concrete plan on its future. >> it is not going to sit, it will be cleaned up by them immediately or demolished by us. >> reporter: the owner says they are weighing options but his client is looking to redevelop the property and hopes to come up with a mutually agreed upon plan with the city before the deadline. >> we them about their seasons. he is in town for the eagles monday night football showdown against washington. his brother is the washington redskins head coach. the eagles kick off against their division rival on monday at 8:30. we'll have live team coverage before and after the game. we'll talk about the game forecast in just a second. we are going to start with those current conditions. this is our radar and satellite view. if we look locally, we have some scattered clouds out there. still a pretty good bit of sunshine overhead. it is still very clear over a good chunk of our region. we are not talking any changes with rain today. look at that line. it is moving our direction. it is going to bring us rain and cooler air soon enough. for today, high pressure still dominating the region. that's that big ridge we have been talking about. it keeps up with the warm air. look at how much that cool air from yesterday has dug south today. yesterday, it was kind of focused here. now, half prime time showdown headlines this morning's locker room report. we haven't done anything yet. we have five wins and we still got ten more games to do. >> six games and we were 4 and 2. things can change fast. >> we kind of learned all that from last year starting off hot. probably just letting the distractions outside get the best of us. this year, we are totally focused. >> it's easier to start back. i see what's happened. we have a huge opportunity to set ourselves up pretty nice in the next stretch of games before we head out. >> we came back hungry. i can still see it in these guys at practice. nobody is going to ever settle for anything less than greatness. the birds are home for a three-game stretch in four of their next five, which is good news under doug pederson. they have outscored their opponents by an even 100 points. the birds have scored 20 or more in 9 of 10 games and held opponents to less than 20 points in 7 of 10. the numbers for the birds front seven are even spotlight. >> this is a great job not letting him get out of bounds. bradham showing off that athletic ability. >> last year, you led the line backers with 99 tackles. right now, you are leading the line backers. what is it about this defense that fits you so well? >> i would say the ability to be able to play fast. >> there is a third and nine. >> comfortable and get aggressive. all of this time, you are going about your job, doing what you are supposed to do. all of the sudden, last week, you make a big splash. now, everybody is talking about nigel br nigel bra nigel branham. >> a great feeling. i feel like as a defense, we really played well as a whole defense that game. i felt like it wasn't just me. we continue to bring energy throughout that whole game. i felt like that was the whole focus for that game. i felt like the whole defense was the mvp of that game. >> they are able to get a hit on cam newton. the ball pops up. johnmy on t johnny on the spot. >> how big is that for you, the guys on the second level of the defense? >> we love it, man. we make sure we have got to take care of those guys. they really are unbelievable up front. i feel like we get a front row seat we have some monsters out there. those guys deserve a lot of credit. they opened up lanes for us to make plays. that's what's been going on. we have been doing a great job. >> he steals it and hits his the eagles will induct david akers into their hall of fame. akers spent 12 years with the birds and leads the franchise in games played and points scored. he was voted the all decade kicker for the 2000s in the entire nfl. it is a tremendous honor. one not lost on jake elliot. >> really, really cool. he swung by earlier today. i had a chance to stalk to him a little bit. that was a really cool experience. kind of able to pick his brain a little bit and here what ar wha to sayment someday, the eagles hope that fletcher cox joins akers in the team hall of fame. in the here and now, fletcher is a foundation piece of the eagles franchise. with a closer examination of the man in the middle, we go to john clark and mike quick. >> thanks a lot, danny. we saw the influence fletcher cox could have on a football game. he had a lot of pressures. so did brandon graham. they are quite a combo getting after the quarterback. >> you are going to block these two guys. >> he steps up. he is hit. eagles have him back across the 45 yard line. >> watch him push this center all the way back and to the left of cam newton while the pocket just crashes around it. you just can't block him. when you have brandon graham coming off the edge, it is really tough for this offense specially on their right side. they are only able to put one man on fletcher cox. you can't win that way. >> they are getting that push off the middle that helps the end and how about the game-clinching play in washington earlier this season. it was fletcher cox and brandon graham. >> back again goes cousins. picked up on top. he is into the end zone. flushed out, eagles. >> again, 101, fletcher, why should the job he does in wiping the hand of this guard and getting right behind him and into the quarterback's face? this is an outstanding job. kirk cousins has nowhere to go but to try and eat the football. this is just great football, outstanding play by that defense. >> we are seeing the defense closing out games in the fourth quarter, a big improvement from last year. >> as much as you want to see the offense score points, it is the defense that wins championships. i love it when the defense is able to close out games. >> thanks a lot. back to you, danny. >> cox and graham's "d" line, he said he will donate the rest of his checks for educational equality. he made that decision when he visited an he helped set it up. a picture perfect finish for the d.b.s and a message for this defense. >> we kind of wanted to set the tone and match their energy and we did that on thursday. rodney was certainly celebrating those interceptions last thursday. celebrations have become a staple the last few weeks on the field and in the locker room. they have carried over to the fans. >> for example, after last week, malcolm jenkins was stepping in the panthers locker room, that made bashir shoot this viral video of his pops trying to do the dance. when torrey smith and his teammates made like read hoskins, andrew and his crew decided they could go too. the players and the fans are having a little fan. who better to break down the fun than the man who spent 15 years on "the tonight show," philadelphia's own kevin eubanks. >> i'm kevin eubanks. huge eagles fan. we are actually celebrating. we are going to go through them and we are not going to judge them too harshly. he falls backwards. >> the next eagle is great. i was a little nervous. it was right on the corner there. it was like, don't lose the ball there out of bounds. don't step out of bound. that was nice when he fell back. he didn't get injured. we are celebrating and it was fun. it was in the flow of the game. i think it was really nice. >> he is going deep! it is at the 20, the 15, the 10, the 5, touchdown! the bomb. >> he is at bad, in baseball, the pitch comes, home run. i don't know that was kind of long. i don't know. we might have to edit some of that. that's a long celebration. we always like to see the whole team celebrating but we got to tighten it up. >> taken off. look at that first for the touchdown. he hand the ball off to the center, jason kelsey, and says, you do the honors. >> was that a team spike? i've never seen that before, a team spike. i plof that there. they a i think it should be more of that. they should give a little bit more of the glamour to the guys that are in the trenches and making the passes to be so heroic and wonderful. >> i love the celebration. i would like to see it later on in the season. then, i would give it like elbows up, hands-up, high-five, thumbs, everything. if we have that kind of celebration because we have home field advantage and we kick butt in the first round of the playoffs, that's what i want to see. still to come -- >> he is it stand for science, technology, athletics and matt designed for children in west philadelphia near drexel university. the next day, malcolm along with jeffrey lurie met with roger goodell to discuss the social issues that jenkins and other players have been protesting. a big one is reform for sentencing criminals. malcolm is putting in the work for trying to make real change with the story. here is nbc 10's jacque london. >> reporter: as malcolm jenkins knows, there is not much better than a sharply dressed man. >> we all get taught you shouldn't judge a book by its colors but we learn philadelphia police and co-owns a suit shop that supports men trying to get their lives back together. a renaissance man in eagles green. >> he is easily the most remarkable human being i have ever met. one thing most people forget about him, he is only 29 years old. the amount of stuff he takes on on top of being a husband and a father, it is phenomenal. >> i want to be able to continue to put our best foot forward and change the stereotypes we have about people who have criminal records or people who have made mistakes before and give these people the best opportunity that they can have to
