It is moving over very warm water. Winds are at 85 Miles Per Hour making it a category 1 and should remain as category 1 for the next couple of days and then moves into an environment to rip it apart. By the time it makes its way through the Leeward Islands should be a Tropical Storm and then makes its way to Dominican Republic by wednesday morning. These are the upper level winds that will rip the storm apart. Some drier air will wrap in. That is unfavorable environment for a tropical system. Actually this could be the best Case Scenario for puerto rico. They are in an extreme drought having about 10. 7 inches below average since the beginning of the year. They can really use the rain but not dealing with damaging winds from a much bigger storm. This could be good news for puerto rico as long as they dont get mudslides because of dry conditions.
