>> the way viagra works is it affects something physical in a man's body. specifically for something called erectile dysfunction. the idea behind the drug is it is affecting the chemicals in the brain. there are a lot of chemicals, we call them neurotrans mitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, serotonin. it's part of the reward center that allows desire to manifest. >> the fda had a chance to approve and rejected it twice. >> primarily for safety concerns t. most common side effects are sleepiness, dizziness and nausea, but critics say low blood pressure, fainting, syncopy, loss of consciousness can be serious. like while you are driving or falling and getting a concussion. >> is it something like a glorified anti-depressant? >> reporter: then 18-year-old owen labrie is accused of raping a 15-year-old freshman on the roof of a school building last year, the prestigious st. paul's in new hampshire where tuition tops $50,000 a year. its alumni include secretary of state john kerry, former fbi director robert muller, actors, bankers and members of congress. according to a search warrant one of the counselors at the school said there is a horrible tradition at the school called the senior salute in which a senior e-mails a younger student regarding a conquest before they graduate. in an interview with a detective labrie described sexual score boards in which other boys tallied conquests on a dorm wall and on inloo. he denied that senior salute had anything to do with the rooftop encounter with the girl. labrie planned to studilele theology at harvard and said they kissed but he experienced a moment of divine inspiration and stopped himself from going further. a friend says labrie comes from a modest background, was beloved by crass mates who raised money for his defense. st. paul's says current allegations about the culture are not emblematic of the school or our values. >> it would be great if the senior girls and guys could stand up and say these rights and traditions aren't things i want my sisters and others to engage in so we need to stop it. >> reporter: labrie pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of sexual assault. >> it's traumatic for any citizen to be put on trial for any offense, never mind a serious offense. that's the case with owen. >> reporter: later today, the jury of 11 men and three women is scheduled to visit the school and tour the scene of the alleged crime. matt? >> it may be. here's why. what the prosecution needs to argue is not that this was highjinks or consensual relations between two individuals that got out of hand or was misunderstood but rather this defendant had a plan to go in and do this with or without consent to someone he knew to be young -- under new hampshire law too young. and the senior salute, this set of traditions goes to his mental state in the prosecution's view. >> if it was a well known horrible tradition at this school, couldn't that be a double-edged sword?
