We continue to follow breaking news from philadelphias society hill neighborhood where a driver was killed in a crash at 4th and lombard streets. Jesse gary is live on the scene. You just learned some new information about the young man killed and the other passengers in the car. They were all childhood friends, have grown up all College Students, preparing for the upcoming semester. Now a tragic end for one of them. We moved closer to the scene. You can see the toyota rav4 on its side. In between 4th and 5th on lombard. A police tow vehicle off to the left is getting ready to try to pull that toyota 4 runner off of the grass and sidewalk, back on to the street and then tow it away so they can be inspected by the Philadelphia Police department this accident happened early this morning. Investigators with the Accident Investigation Division now say that this was acation case of. No alcohol involved. The driver was headed west on lombard. He hit a bump in the road, lost control and hit two trees. The driver was not seat belted and was partially ejected and was crushed. This is an extremely emotional scene. Parents of the young man killed say he was just about to turn 21. These were all College Students. Have been friends for life. All getting ready for the upcoming semester. New from overnight, Philadelphia Police are looking for theman who shot a man in the back. Nbc 10 was on the scene at levick street and summerdale avenue where the shooting happened. The Victim Told Police he never saw the shooter and he was never robbed. Were working to find out more information about that victims condition. Police in philadelphia are also investigating a shooting in west philly. Somebody shot a man here at 0th a 60th and locust streets. Firefighters were busy overnight extinguishing flames at this fire in north philadelphia. The blaze began in a vacant house at broad and york streets around 1 00 this morning. Nobody was hurt. Pennsylvania attorney general Kathleen Kane is now a criminal defendant and she is rejecting a call from Governor Tom Wolf to resign. As we mentioned, she was brought in yesterday, turned herself into to detectives. She ignored cameras and reporters on her way in. A judge set bail at 10,000 which kane did not have to put up, it was unsecured, so she only had to provide her signature. She surrendered to detectives days after being charged with perjury and abuse of power by the Montgomery County district attorneys office. Yesterday police fingerprinted kane and took her mugshot but kane did not say anything. Her lawyers are talking. Our job in Going Forward here is simply to do justice and bring the truth out in the courtroom. Her side of it has not come out. It will over the course of this case. Thats how this process works. Its a marathon. Prosecutors claim kane directed a scheme to leak secret grand jury information to a philadelphia newspaper to make her rivals look soft on crime. Kane did not enter a plea yesterday. Her next Court Appearance is august 24th. Her driver is also in trouble with the law. Patrick rocco reese is charged with indirect criminal contempt. Police say that eight people including five children been found dead inside of a house near houston following a police standoff. According to investigators, a highrisk Operations Unit went to the home to track down the man inside because he was wanted on an aggravated assault warrant. When they busted in, the man opened fire on officers, about an hour later he surrendered, thats when officers found other victims.
