An escaped inmate suspected of killing a woman while on the run is back behind bars. Authorities credit the public for making the capture happen. State troopers took Robert Christman into custody this morning. His capture came 26 hours after he worked away from a Work Release Program at a jail near pittsburgh. He is in the passengers seat of this police car that drives by in this video. Troopers caught him this morning after he led them on a chase and rammed a cruiser. Investigators say shortly after he escaped yesterday he murdered a woman he knew in her house about a mile from the jail. It was a 911 caller that alerted police when christman knocked on her door. The 911 caller recognized him from the news and refused to let him in. We would also like to thank the public for their participation in this apprehension by providing the police with the information that led directly to the apprehension of mr. Christman. Their help was invaluable. He was in jail for violating probation on a drug charge. There were no previous Violent Crimes on his record. A berks county man admits he drove into a barricade at the u. S. Capitol building in washington, d. C. On purpose. He did not get into the secure part of the grounds. Officials checked the car and say nothing inside was hazardous. The man told our station in washington that he wanted to accomplish something regarding a patent involving clothing. He is charged with felony destruction of property and unlawful entry. The temperature is up to 90 degrees in philadelphia, mid 80s to the north and west and mid 80s to upper 80s even at the shore. But because of the low humidity, the feels like temperature is the same as the air temperature, 90. So its feeling like about ten degrees cooler than it did yesterday, despite the temperature being about the same. And lots of sunshine out there. We will see how long that lasts and when the humidity is going to return along with the sevenday in a few minutes. A lot of people will head to the water because of that. Camden is taking extra precautions to keep children safe at local pools this weekend. Thats right. The girls mother says she noticed her daughter missing on tuesday morning. Police say a man climbed through an alleyway window at the familys north philadelphia home. The man forced the girl outside, then beat her. The mother found her little girl barely conscious in the backyard. The child remains in the hospital with severe injuries to her face. A jewelry heist across six states. Seven people now face charges of stealing more than 800,000 of jewelry in new jersey and all across the country, too. The investigation is called operation pandora. The group is charged with a total of eight thefts in new jersey. Two of those crimes happened in mercer county. In one case, some of the suspects allegedly stole 100,000 in loose diamonds. Dylann roof appeared in court for his arraignment this morning. His lawyer says roof wanted to enter a guilty plea but he was told the government has not decided how to proceed with the case yet, whether to seek the death penalty. So the judge then entered a not guilty plea on all counts. Roof is accused of opening fire inside an historically black church on june 17th. Nine people were killed. Through a week of looking for two florida teens missing at sea, the coast guard says it will suspend its search at sunset tonight. The two boys vanished last friday. The 14 year olds went fishing off the coast of jupiter, florida. Searchers found their capsized boat sunday but there has been no sign of the boys. The coast guard says crews are still scouring waters from florida to South Carolina today. That search will come to an end in a matter of hours. The coast guard says it doesnt mean giving up hope. By suspension what we mean is if new information comes to light, we have the ability to reopen the case. The boys families say they will continue with a private search when the coast guard stops. After nearly a year and a half without answers, families of those on board Malaysia Airlines flight 370 will have to wait another day. Investigators say it will take at least that long to figure out whether the missing plane crashed into the sea. Nbcs Alistair Jamison reports. A friend says he was just about to sit up on his board when it flipped over and the shark attacked. We were just paddling out to catch a wave. We hadnt even got to where we would normally sit to catch the wave. And my friend craig yelled out theres a shark, head back in. A second or two later, he went under the water. Police said people walking on the beach helped save his life by using surfboard leg ropes as tourniquets to slow the bleeding. Remember this. Look at this video. The rescuer later pulled him out of the water. He returned safely to shore. Now to some olympic history made today. Thats right. Beijing has become the first city awarded both the winter and summer games. Beijing. Huge cheers from the chinese following todays announcement that the countrys capital won the right to host the 2022 winter olympics. The International Olympic committee selected beijing over kazahkstan after hearing final presentations from both countries. Beijing hosted the summer olympics in 2008. China has said it plans to reuse several venues from those games. Heres the lineup of host cities that are set. Rio de janeiro, brazil will host next years summer games. The temperature is just about exactly as hot as it was yesterday but it sure doesnt feel the same. Its all about the humidity. Weve got big humidity relief today and into the weekend. Yesterday that feels like temperature reached 99 in philadelphia and triple digits in some areas just to the south. Temperatures in the mid 80s to the north and west. 80 degrees in mt. Pocono right now. And it is into the mid 80s at least as we head toward the shore because of that land breeze that is occurring today. They will have mostly a land breeze over the weekend as well. At least tomorrow at the shore. Thats why tomorrow is going to be a warmer day than sunday, more of that west wind. It will feel kind of hot on the beaches until perhaps a late day sea breeze comes in. The Ocean Temperatures down to 68 degrees. Sunday, just a spectacular day with a nice sea breeze. The poconos, mix of sun and clouds. Tomorrow just a slight chance of an afternoon shower. Sunday is looking great as well. No significant moisture in the east, no significant moisture in the midwest or in the plains. We have High Pressure way to the west. Not like its on top of us, so its going to take the entire weekend to cross and go right into our area and then offshore which is when the humidity starts increasing. Here we are saturday and into sunday, its dry, we have the west wind and finally on monday, the high starts to move to the coast and that will allow the southwest wind to start heating us up and increasing the humidity. But that is only going to be temporary, too. As we go through the weekend, we are hot, not especially humid. We are plenty hot on monday and maybe even into tuesday but here comes that cooler air and the hot weather is just knocked right off the map. At least for a couple days.
