Aside from that we are also talking about the humidity over the next few days making it feel a lot hotter outside. For the rest of this evening it will stay hot and humid, near 90 degrees by 6 00 p. M. By 8 00 p. M. Only in the mid 80s. Still hot and humid. By 10 00 p. M. In the low 80s. Tomorrow, a little bit hotter than today. The 90 degree temperatures dont look like they will break in the forecast. We wont get too much of a break from the heat but some of you may see a bit of relief come thursday from some of the rain showers and thunderstorms we expect to move in. Reporter the family certainly did need some good news. The arroyo family telling us a neighbor called police after finding max, the dog, and an officer brought him home. Were told max is a comfort to the boy who was born blind and deaf. Osvaldo and his brother were doing repair work on a van sunday. They headed out around 10 30, made a uturn on luzerne street. Thats when a mitsubishi suv broadsided their sedan. Police found and impounded the suv and are trying to find the owner, a local tattoo artist. They know who it is. Right now, i dont believe it. After blowing two stop signs, police found the driver had crashed into another car. No word if the men have any outstanding warrants. Reporter police tell me ritter was willing to fight a Grocery Store security clerk to get away with two packs of mens underwear worth about 21 two weeks ago but his rap sheet has arrest warrants totalling 20,000. Police spotted that white van down the street on the white horse pike parked secretly between the cvs farmpharmacy and local car wash. He has been jailed in cumberland and camden counties. 54yearold Robert Ritter is the man who led police on that dangerous pursuit monday night. He is well known to Law Enforcement. Hes ran from us before. Reporter in fact brooklawn patrolmen have been trying to catch ritter since the shoplifting incident turned into a strong arm robbery july 9th inside this shoprite on route 130. Ritter captured he says on Security Surveillance video stealing underwear and shoving a Loss Prevention officer to get away with it. He actually concealed a couple items of mens undergarments, teeshirts and boxers secreted them in his clothing and attempted to walk out of the store with them. Reporter taking off in that same dodge white van. Yes, it was the white van was involved. We had been looking for it for some time now. Reporter according to these complaints so were gloucester township police. They say ritter stalked and harassed a woman who had a restraining order against him. That was july 1st. 15 days after being released from the Cumberland County jail. It was Oaklyn Police who initially gave chase monday night, sticking with ritter as dinnertime hour turned into darkness. Ritters m. O. Is to not get caught. Minor traffic violations. No one else was hurt. Septa will now offer a lottery next monday for papal passes. This afternoon the Transit Agency announced its solution on how to sell special train passes to see the pope. The passes are the only way you can travel on Regional Rail when pope francis is here in september. The first attempts to sell them last monday crashed septas website. Online registration for the lottery will begin just after midnight next monday. The lottery will run for 24 hours ending at 11 59 that night. Septa will notify winners thursday with an email allowing them to purchase the passes. The agency will then mail the passes to customers and septa says no matter what time you enter the lottery on monday, everyone has the same chance. Ten is the maximum amount of passes you can buy. The plea agreement means Joyce Mitchell will the not face any additional charges for an alleged plot to kill her husband or for any sexual contact with the two inmates. Reporter removed from her shackles briefly, Joyce Mitchell wiped away tears as she signed off on a plea deal for her role in helping two convicted murderers escape the Clinton Correctional Facility in upstate new york. She got in over her head into something that she never should have started but she did, and shes paying the price now. But she realizes that she made a horrible mistake. Reporter wearing a striped prison jumpsuit mitchells voice was soft and cracking as she told the judge she understood the terms of the agreement and pled guilty to criminal facilitation and promoting prison contraband. She admitted to smuggling hacksaw blades screwdrivers and other tools into the prison in frozen meat to help sweat and matt tunnel out of the facility. Because the evidence was so overwhelming Miss Mitchell acknowledged her guilt by appearing in court today and entering a plea. She wanted to expedite her case proceeding and move on. Reporter mitchell will spend up to seven years behind bars and pay a 6,000 fine. As part of the agreement, she will not face any additional charges for alleged sexual contact with the inmates and allegations she was involved in a plot to kill her husband, who also worked in the facility. Two groups teamed up and Want Congress to require legislation that would require a background check on all gun sales. We spoke to a man who lost his son in last years shooting rampage. The only thing thats important to me is that no other parent in this country should have to go through what my familys going through. The groups say 88 americans are killed by gun violence every day. Firing a gun into the air in reading, little closer to home is now considered breaking the law. The city Council Passed an ordinance making it illegal to fire a gun in city. The heat wave is actually going to be starting today with temperatures already hitting the low 90s and it will be feeling close to 100 degrees at least one day this week with the humidity and several days of 90 degree temperatures even as we go through the weekend. We are at 94 in northeast philly, 90, philadelphia. 91 in chester springs. It feels about three to five degrees hotter with the humidity. Actual temperature is 91 in allentown, in reading. 90 in blue bell. Closer to the shore, temperatures about the mid 80s. 88 a little farther in in millville. 86 dover. 90 degrees in newark. We do have isolated showers between philly and the shore, going down the Atlantic City expressway. Theres the ac expressway there. This heavy shower near Galloway Township drifting to the south. The light showers around south philly have gotten even lighter. Another shower near williamstown in new jersey. The heaviest activity has been right near the maryland border in extreme southern delaware getting some of that rain. As we go into tomorrow nothing more than isolated showers again.
