He shoots 13 times. Among the questions that people are asking did anybody know the gunman who was capable of such horror. At a candlelight vigil in lafayette, prayers for the victims, and questions. Did the system designed to stop a crazed gunman break down . 59yearold John Russell Houser was no stranger to police. In the bar he once owned, the former mayor and housers one time Business Partner said he has problems. A good description is time bomb. He was sitting on the front wall of the bank. Looked calm. Reporter a helicopter above as police shouted orders. The officer gets out with the shotgun raised. Reporter some bystanders say the man fired his weapon. Confused shoppers were still on the streets as police began firing. The gunman was killed but the bomb squad had to clear the scene because police were concerned he made have been armed with explosives. Police say they dont think the man had anything explosive. We dont know the results of that. The official report we got on friday does not talk about the marijuana that prosecutors say was in blands system. We expect to get that toxicology report next week. The family says that is irrelevant. That is merely an attempt by investigators by prosecutors to smear blands character. Now for more than a week now, blands case has been taken up by many people for many reasons. We know there is an increased risk of Breast Cancer if you smoke. This is about the survival rate if you are a smoker and you develop Breast Cancer. Thats exactly right. The link between spokemoking and developing Breast Cancer is not as defined with lung and kidney cancer. This study did not look whether smoking causes women to develop Breast Cancer but instead looked at those women who smoke that have Breast Cancer are three times more likely to die than those who dont. It looked at the length of time in the women that smoked. The longer you smoke, the greater the impact . Yes. In this group, if you smoke for more than two decades, you are at risk of dying from the disease. Was this woman in the study still currently smoking or if you smoked for 20 years and quit and got Breast Cancer does this affect your survival rate . Thats a good question. In this study, it is women still currently smoking. This reaffirms there is no time thats too late to quit smoking. It is encourageing for anybody to quit smoking. The study that is surprising to me. We are seeing overall smoking rates in the country decline which is good for our health. A separate piece for women 18 and 25 which are very light smokers. That is five or fewer cigarettes a day which seems kind of high. I think this is the social smoking phenomenon. Not even smoking every day, but occasionally. These women were at very high risk. I think we have seen particularly in the news over the past several years that alcohol in moderation one drink a day or less is not necessarily bad for your health and may be protective against heart disease. For smoking, this reaffirms that no amount is safe. Any smoking, especially for women, as we know now, can have this effect. If you consider yourself this light smoker that can affect you with Breast Cancer later on. Exactly. What is dangerous about the light smoking, when they see their doctors, they may not seem to be smokers. When you are asked the question do you smoke, they may answer no.
