79-year-old woman in north philadelphia. >> this morning she's telling us exactly how it happened. denise nakano is live. denise? >> she saw some men coming up the block. she sensed some trouble, tried to get into her house, and that's when she was struck by gunfire. >> all i was doing was trying to get out of the way. >> reporter: but the 79-year-old grandmother didn't get very far until she felt the sting of a bullet. >> when i jumped up i fell trying to get in the house. i called my son and told him i had been shot and they came out from everywhere. >> they had just robbed a corner store. she considers herself lucky even though a stray bullet ricochetted from her right leg and lodge sbud her right ankle where doctors say it will probably stay permanently. she also panicked bh she tried to get away from danger. >> i jumped up to run into the house, and when i did that i fell. >> reporter: tillman and her friends often sit on their porch late at night. tonight she's unable to get around, talk to go me from her recliner instead of her outdoor lounge chair. the conversation would have likely carried them into early morning had it not been interrupted. now 24 hours later, police look for the gunman that fired two rounds, one that injured tillman and brought instant chaos to the neighborhood. >> the whole neighborhood is upset now. >> i hope they get him. yeah, i just hope they get him. >> reporter: i spoke with investigators late tonight who tell me they're still looking for the men involved in the fight, including the one who opened fire. live from police headquarters i'm denise nakano nbc 10 news. neighbors are nervous after this attempted home invasion in mt. airy. the man inside opened his door slightly and then saw one of the suspects armed with a shotgun, so he shut the door and when the men couldn't get inside they ran off. >> it's very unsettling. we have our family here and it's usually a pretty safe quiet block. this is unsettling to us to find this out. >> yeah that's really terrifying because my husband is in the military. he's gone a lot and i'm just glad i have a dog. >> neighbors say they may get security cameras after this incident. new at 11:00, thieves targeting commuters, breaking into their cars while they work. >> thieves busted out windows this week full of heavy rain. george spencer live at the train station. george so far leads seem scarce? >> reporter: jim we did not see any obvious surveillance cameras around this parking lot, but in spot after spot we did see shattered glass, even this a full busted-out car window left my thieves targeting commuters who were just doing an honest day's work. this is your baby. >> it is. >> reporter: this brand new honda civic is what 22-year-old crystal burgess had been saving for, her first major purchase. and as of yesterday evening, a major disappointment. >> the only thing that makes me the most mad about everything is the fact that i just purchased this car literally, like three weeks now, and my window is shattered. >> reporter: that window was covered by plastic tonight. it's an emergency measure for this rainy weather after thieves targeted the wissahicken commuter train yesterday, busting out windows and swiping vaublz valuables while the cars' owners toiled at work making an honest living. >> to think that i was at work all day and someone smashed out my window. >> so you were further down than normal. >> i'm further down than normal. >> reporter: she showed us shattered glass. nine different vehicles hit, by her account. they dusted hers for fingerprints, but they have little to go on and her experience as a new car owner has been tainted. >> hopefully nobody else decides they want to do any vandalism and just leaves my car alone. i've had enough. >> reporter: burgess hopes someone in this area saw something that could help police. meanwhile, fixing that window will not be cheap. the estimate is more than $500. george spencer, nbc 10 news. our weather, parts of south jersey drying out after this morning's heavy rains there. take a look at these heavy streets. long beach island ocean county got four inches of rain in less than two hours. high water left police shutting down portions of the roadway there. people in the skate park some people on four wheels others on two. but we have some big changes on the way. let's get what we'll wake up to from glen hurricane schwartz. glen? >> if you go outside, you can feel the change. it's warmer than it was just a few hours ago. the humidity has dropped, the rain has moved out and we have some great conditions out there. the last of the rain came down through atlantic city just a couple hours ago. we had some showers earlier this evening and now it's all gone. northerly wind flow dryer air coming in temperatures already down into the mid-60s north and west. and that's just the beginning of the cooldown that we're going to be seeing. as we go through the night tonight and into the morning, some of those places are going to be in the 50s, going to be very comfortable tomorrow with that northerly wind and the low humidity, but things are going to change even though it's going to be nice and comfortable tomorrow. and into friday we've got a heat wave on the way. we'll talk more about how hot it's going to get and when things are going to change from this coming up with the seven-day in just a few minutes. >> all right glenn. it has been a busy night for firefighters in spring garden. flames broke out a little after 9:00. it's on north broadway near wallace. no one was hurt. crews evacuated the building while they put out the fire. in darby township delaware county, they put the same fire out twice. tonight they took the roof off and soaked it hoping it wouldn't ignite overnight. they said it originally started from careless smoking. the search is on for a robber that held up a center citibank tonight. they were at 11th and race where police recovered some of the cash after the robbery. it happened at an hcb branch here. no one was hurt. tonight we learned about a chinese restaurant where dozens of people became sick. a lawyer filed a suit against joy sin lau. dozens of patrons became ill after eating there in february. they threatened to close the restaurant but found a closure wasn't warranted. to decision 2016 now, chris christie will make his first powerful speech in new jersey since launching his campaign. he will give a speech on justice reform. he is expected to focus on drug addiction. he'll also talk about the success of camden's newly reorganized police department. meanwhile, donald trump says he's worth more than $10 billion, according to documents. he filed his personal disclosure with regulators this afternoon but trump has not released the form publicly. he said he is worth more than 62 million. he leads the way according to the latest poll by suffolk university and usa today. jeb bush is polling second. hillary clinton holds a sizeable lead over the democratic field. in a new poll by monmouth university clinton has more than doubled bernie sanders. the rest of the field had similar numbers. the final day of the gathering in philadelphia featured a former president and a continuing conversation about reforming the criminal justice system. bill clinton told the delegates this morning that the 1994 christmascrime bill he signed into law helped make the overpopulation problem in our prisons worse. he explained that in some cases it made prison sentences too harsh, especially for non-violent offenders. >> we had the biggest drop in crime in history. the bad news is we had a lot of people who were essentially not locked up who were minor actors for way too long. >> president clinton told the aud audience that political leaders must now work to form the sentencing guidelines. they met tonight since the first time the fbi raided this month on city hall. meanwhile, there are concerns the impact the investigation could have on businesses there. fbi agents raided both allentown and reading's city hall earlier this month. they're looking at contacts between development and developers. for the past two years, there's been a renaissance in allentown that's added up to a billion dollars in new development. there is a sense among some that the fbi probe could slow progress but business leaders believe the seized momentum will continue. >> folks in the valley business people in particular are very smart and can make the separation between the development that's going on and whatever might have been going on in the mayor's office. >> allentown's mayor has said he and the city are fully cooperating with the investigation. this group couldn't escape. tonight we're also getting a look inside the sophisticated tunnel "el chapo" used to break out of the maximum security prison. there is a ventilator to power the lights and ventilation. a motorcycle was attached to a cart on a rail system. "el chapo" guzman dropped out of the tunnel got on the cart and was whisked to freedom. >> it's okay my friend. it's okay. >> here at home the face of gun violence on philadelphia streets. a man with a cell phone camera gives you a rare inside look at the panic and fear spread by bullets. it's a sobering fact. we report on shootings almost every day right here on nbc 10. but tonight we're seeing the impact from a new close-up perspective. >> it is a viral video taken after a shooting in east germantown. vince have ivitanzio spoke to the person who recorded it. >> gunshots pierced the summer air. instead of running away he went to investigate and help. some of you might find the video disturbing. we blurred the victim's face to respect his prooifivacy. still, it's an important video we think you should see. >> keep your eyes open. don't look at that. look at me. >> i did a little prayer before i walked up to him. it was just a feeling, it was keep him conscious, keep him awake. >> reporter: will clark was getting out of his car in the 5200 of blakely street when two men were shot. it was just after noon on june 26. smartphone camera rolling, clark offers a glimpse into gun violence on the city's streets most people don't get to see. for more than four minutes, clark, a medical alert salesman in philly from texas for work and other bystanders constantly talked to the 22-year-old victim as he grew wide-eyed and started to lose consciousness. >> i was thinking man, if he goes unconscious, he might not wake up. >> reporter: investigating this case i found this double shooting is one of two in the area. while gunshot crime is overall down in the city clark sees a lot of it. >> he comes down shooting down the block. i don't get it. >> why did you film that? >> just so people could see. i think the country needs a revival and they need to see some of the violence going on so they realize stuff needs to change. >> clark didn't use his phone to call 911 because that had already been done. he told me he doesn't see violence like this where he's from. both victims are recovering from the shooting. >> rare insight, and we first reported this story on our mobile app. if you would like to see the clip that far video, you can look at it there. a former cosby actor is weighing in on bill cosby. phillips played on the show. he said cosby is likely guilty of the accusations against him. he calls hm a boyhood idol but the trust shifted when someone told him he violated her body. cosby will keep his medal of freedom. >> there is no precedent for revoking a medal. we don't have that mechanism. >> court documents showed cosby admitted under oath that he obtained qaaludes to give to women with whom he wanted to have sex. cosby has not been charged. close-ups of pluto and the moon shows the mountain range as high as the rockies. scientists are surprised there are no impact craters. the images came from the new horizon spacecraft. new horizons is already a million miles beyond the dwarf planet, about 3 million miles from earth. >> great view there and great weather heading our way. >> good couple days glenn. >> we can almost see pluto. not quite that good. but we certainly have had a tremendous improvement over the last several hours. we've been drying out. it's going to be a terrifically different night and day from what we saw thursday and friday. we have a heat wave coming and also some thunderstorms returning. it's dry out there now, and it's going to stay dry overnight. some high clouds 70 degrees, the winds out of the north at 14 bringing that dryer air down and also bringing cooler air down. in the mid-60s north and west while it's 70 degrees in philadelphia and it is going to be a gorgeous day tomorrow. nothing on the live radar now. the last of the showers came down through atlantic city a couple hours ago and good riddance. look at the radar-estimated rainfall. these areas in yellow over 2 inches of rain. that stretches from the shore near atlantic city all the way through gloucester county and even up to berks county. three to four inches of rain in just the last couple of days. but that storm causing all that is moving now, high pressure building in and that is going to keep us bone dry tomorrow and into friday as the high moves offshore and the southerly winds come in that is going to bring in the warmth it's going to bring in some clouds and eventually, yeah bring in some showers and storms just as we get into the weekend. so the weekend is going to be quite a bit different than the next two days. if you want to escape the heat a couple places you could go. one is at the shore. it will be near 80 degrees. the ocean temperature is still pretty high at 73. generally dry at the shore. there could be some thunderstorms in the poconos, especially on saturday but certainly not into the 90s like the inland areas are going to be. tonight clearing and less humid, 66 the low in philadelphia 57 in some of the cooler suburbs. tomorrow a lot of sunshine much less humid than today and no rain. temperatures into the low 80s. friday another beautiful day. relatively low humidity but the temperature jumps, the humidity jumps on saturday and the chance of thunderstorms jumps up. sunday even hotter, more humid. monday could be the hottest of all. that would make it a heat wave three days in a row of 90-plus, plus the best chance of showers and thunderstorms. >> hurricane, thanks i'm john clark. how does eagles quarterback byron maxwell feel covering desmond bryant?
