temperatures in the low 80s for atlantic city. 81 in cape may. 78 in rehoboth beach. beautiful day with temperatures ranging between 86 and 89 degrees. sunny and warm. clouds mainly staying to the south but clearing up during the afternoon. tracking the seven-day forecast in just a bit. a man was shot in the face on west hill creek drive around 10:30 last night. he is in critical condition right now. s.w.a.t. members, k-9 units, and helicopters swept a wooded area searching for suspects. no arrests in this case. also from overnight, this rollover crash sent five people to the hospital and closed an intersection in bucks county. the intersection of route 413 in bucks county is closed indefinitely. we are working to get an update on the condition of the people involved. we're also checking to find out when the intersection will be reopened. . no word yet. it was an historic moment for our country. the symbol of segregation as some call the confederate flag came down in south carolina yesterday. the start of the naacp's 106th national convention. jesse gary is live in center city where registration for the event is about to begin. >> reporter: it begins around 9:00 this morning. and several high-profile speakers on tap here. this annual convention is a major symbol marker from the shout. the flag inspires hate and not pride and heritage they say. other issues galvanizing young people to action. including police misconduct and civil disobedience. they've given this new life. high-profile speakers slated including president obama. >> it can't get any better than that to have our president come and speak to change that's going to change our lives. the youth we serve. i work with these every day. i've never had a president that's been more engaged with the youth of our country and to bring forth this change with that flag coming down i see nothing but brightness in our future. >> and the future of philadelphia looks bright with this convention. 8,000 people expected with an economic impact projected to be in the realm of $10 million. all the hotels restaurants, entertainment all benefitting from the convention that wraps on thursday here in center city. jesse gary, nbc 10 news. this morning three new castle county teens are facing charges after stealing a confederate flag. they turned themselves in yesterday. the teens stole the flags from a newark house on wednesday after vandalizing the homeowner's truck and boat. we have new information on six former philadelphia police officers cleared of corruption charges. the inquirer reports that the six have won their jobs back through arbitration. the paper says mayor michael nutter's office confirmed the report. a federal jury acquitted the former narcotics officers in may. only on 10. was it street justice or just some kind of a misunderstanding? that's what police are trying to determine after some neighbors in south philadelphia beat up a man whom they say tried to kidnap children. we've blurred the man's face as police have not charged him with a crime and have not named him as a suspect. paramedics treated him at the scene on beulah and porter streets last night. neighbors claimed he tried to abduct a 6-year-old and 4-year-old. police tell us the man asked the kids to buy something for him at a corner store. that's when a fight broke out, the man left the store. several people gave chase and caught him. >> you know beating him up. i'm afraid they're going to kill him. >> he came running up the block. they was trying to hold him but he was so bludy they didn't want to get nothing he had. >> investigators tell us they're not sure if the man's intentions were true. what he told them. this morning we are learning more about the arrest of a chester county teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage boy. katie cross was caught in her car with one of her students. she taught language arts at collegium charter school in exton for two years. police arrested her in this cul-de-sac last wednesday. investigators say a homeowner called authorities after seeing cross on top of a 17-year-old boy inside her car. during the subsequent investigation, police say the victim confirmed two other encounters in cross' car starting in february and that there was passionate kissing in her classroom. >> she needs to be out of that school. >> you'd like to see her gone? >> yeah. i mean, that's very bad. >> cross is suspended from teaching until further notice. the school says it is fullyiy cooperating with police and that it takes the well into cape may. parts of dover, milford, down into lewis. it's part of a bigger weather disturbance that is to the south of our region. the poconos, 81 degrees. city, 88. shore, 82. i'll have your full forecast coming up. we want to show you some new time lapse video this morning showing a volcano eruption in western mexico. authorities there have started protective protocols after this volcano began spewing lava into the air thursday night. officials are now urging people in this area to stay out of the three-mile perimeter. this morning we are hearing more people call for bill cosby's presidential medal of freedom to be revoked. president barack obama presented cosby with the medal in 2002. two u.s. senators are now supporting a position to take back the award in the wake of the sexual assault allegations against the comedian. the petition already has more than 94,000 signatures. today mayor michael nutter will help dedicate a new rapid response vehicle at philadelphia's second alarmers headquarters in nicetown. the new vehicle will be named in honor of four fallen heroes. fire captain michael goodwin sr., firefighter joyce craig, and police officers moses walker jr. people out there on the jetti. my guess is in four to five hours from now it is going to be jam packed on the beach. brittney shipp tell us us we're in store for a great weekend. temperatures are going to warm into the 80s. humidity is going to be low. she'll have the details in the forecast throughout the newscast today. all right. let's head down to rehoboth beach. police there are searching for seven lifeguard stands they believe were stolen and put out to sea. each lifeguard stand weighs about 500 pounds so the police think there may be a few people involved in this. the city tells us they have backup stands so the beach will be fully stacked this weekend. from our south jersey bureau, state lawmakers are working on getting a declaration for homeowners still dealing with damage from recent severe weather. this video was taken after the june 23rd storm that left thousands of people without power for nearly a week. officials are expected to send the proposal to the president some time next week. it would cover camden gloucester burlington and atlantic counties. in the past month, there have been several shark attacks along the coast of the carolinas. now we're getting a good look at one of those sharks off the shore. this video was shot yesterday by a beachgoer on north carolina's kure beach. the woman who filmed it said from what it looked like she thought he was chasing a stingray. it may have been chasing a dolphin earlier in the day because the same day a dolphin washed up on the beach with a big shark bite. if you'll be on the shore today and looking for something to do, the beachstock festival will take over margate. there will be a paddle boat race this morning. then there will be a volleyball tournament plus several activities for the entire family. and there is a beer garden later on for the adults. good morning. as we head into the rest of your weekend, expect to see warm temperatures. put your sun screen on as you head out the door today. i'm tracking showers in parts of our area. a live look outside right now, you can see just a few clouds over philadelphia's skyline. 73 degrees. our humidity is down to about 59%. winds out of the north at 8 miles per hour. 64 degrees in allentown. cape my at 69. plenty of sunshine. the clouds breaking up. but we were seeing cloudy skies closer to cape may, our delaware beaches. right now throughout the rest of the region we're in the low 60s. 71 in wilmington. low 70s in northwest philly. temperatures along the shore here beach haven to avalon at 73. our radar shot shows we have weather disturbances in parts of washington, d.c. it's pushing showers and clouds into parts of our areas. in philadelphia you're not seeing this. but right along the shoreline here near cumberland county into southern parts of delaware, all seeing light spotty showers. as we progress the model, you'll notice that most of this moisture pushes off shore. that will give us plenty of sunshine into the rest of the afternoon today. mostly clear skies tonight. setting us up for plenty of sunshine into sunday. plus temperatures warm up a bit. we're in the 90s. the good news is our humidity is going to stay down. it won't be really hot and sticky out there. our average this time of year is 87. take a look. we head into tomorrow 91. still on the warm side. make sure you stay hydrated. if you plan on heading to the shore, perfect conditions. water temperatures right around 70 degrees. today our temperatures will range between 86 and 89. sunny and warm. lingering showers will clear up into the war on canada. >> she also said the investigation into his activity began in october of last year. he is accused of trying to get people to join isis and encouraging others to murder and cause harm in the name of the terrorist group. later on today, greece's finance minister is set to meet with his european colleagues to try to come up with a bailout plan. the latest greek proposal includes tax hikes and deep spending cuts including on pensions. the greek economy is in shambles. the government is still restricts citizens on cash withdrawals from banks. let's head now to vienna where the deadline on the iran nuclear talks is set for monday. secretary of state john kerry said yesterday there has been some progress made, but he admitted a couple of difficult issues remain. he met with the foreign minister who accused the u.s. of shifting demand. iran is threatening to accelerate its nuclear program if the u.s. and its partners walk away from the talks. back here in the u.s. fbi officials say the gunman dylann roof who is accused of being involved in the carolina church massacre should not have been allowed to purchase a gun in the attack. outlined heart breaking misopportunities and background check flaws that allowed roof to purchase the weapon. it began with a drug related arrest of roof weeks before the killing. according to authorities, roof has admitted philadelphia. and 70 degrees in wildwood. take a look at your city planner. expect temperatures to warm into the low 80s by noon. feeling nice and comfortable. as we push to 3:00 p.m. ab 86 degrees. advocates will meet in philadelphia for the start of the naacp's 106th national convention. nbc 10's jesse gary is live in center city just outside of the convention center where registration is set to begin later on this morning. jesse? >> yeah. and ahead of that we just saw some of the people who do the setup for the convention show up for work to begin setting up for the convention that starts in a little while. the convention begins as the remufl of the confederate battle flag is removed from the south carolina capitol grounds. many here said it inspired fear. but attendees say their fight also focuses on police conduct, voting rights education, and reducing poverty. >> bring about a fundamental change in the course of history in these united states. why? because we are the naacp and this is what we endeavor to do because this is what we have done. >> reporter: 8,000 people are expected at the convention which s on wednesday. ahead of that president obama will address attendees. from overnight, this rollover crash sent five people to the hospital and closed an intersection in bucks county. right now the intersection of route 413 and state road in bucks county is closed. we his van. police say it happened around 6:00 last night on bayshore drive. a man in a white work van approached the girl asking if she wanted a ride. the fight over a philadelphia church has take an turn. the historical commission just designated st. laurentius a historical site. the archdiocese wants to tear it down because of structural issues. they said it would cost too much to fix. we spoke to one of the organizers of the save st. laurentius group. he says he hopes that yesterday's decision by the historical commission will lead to further talks with the archdiocese. >> what we're hoping to do is sit down with them and find a path forward that acknowledges there are structural issues here that can be repaired for a lot less than they say they can be. and we'd like to open this again. the archdiocese tells us for now the property will remain on the market for sale. the final curtain is not far away for u.s. airways as the deadline for its merger with american airlines fast approaches. we know when its last flight is scheduled to land in philadelphia. plus with relief happening next week the reviews are in for harper lee's new novel. it paints a much different portrait demonstrated outside of the hotel where donald trump is staying in beverly hills. he was in town last night meeting with families of victims killed by undocumented immigrants. trump has taken some heat for his comments about mexico flooding the u.s. border with criminals. he said the deadly shooting in san francisco, the recent one involving undocumented immigrant proved that. >> whenever somebody hears that it was an illegal that was involved with the death of their children it becomes politically incorrect for a politician to help them. that's how messed up our nation is. >> trump also told the crowd in california that if he's elected president, he'll force mexico to build a border wall that will keep undocumented immigrants from entering the u.s. new jersey governor and republican presidential candidate chris christie has released his first tv campaign ad. the topic? the need for strong leadership. >> we're going to lead. we have to stop worrying about being loved and start caring about being respected again. >> according to political analysts, this ad is targeting the early voting state of new hampshire. governor christie has held a number of town hall meetings there since announcing his run for president. he's one of 14 candidates seeking for the republican nomination. two more candidates are expected to launch their campaigns later on this month. in philadelphia. a mix of sun and clouds but we'll see more sunshine as we head into the afternoon. our temperatures are mainly in the 60s for the poconos. 70 degrees in millville. here at the atlantic city airport, we're at 69 degrees. not a bad way to kick off the morning. with the only exception of this weather disturbance here off to the southwest. so basically most of the moisture is going to head to the south of us. but we are dealing with a few of these scattered showers moving into our area. if you're in dover, parts of sussex county. you'll see the showers continue for the next few hours. the same thing for cumberland county. but once we get rid of these showers, we'll see plenty of sunshine and a nice day on tap for us. our future cast shows by 11:00 a.m. we are going to see a few lingering clouds here. most of the clearing will have taken place into dover. you'll notice this sets us up for a pleasant evening ahead and a nice way to end your weekend. so we'll see plenty of sunshine throughout the entire area on sunday. high pressure is going to stay in control for us. and we're also going to see temperatures climb a few more degrees. our average for this time of year is 87. 88 degrees today. sunday, 91 degrees. our saving grace is going to be the humidity staying low. it's not going to be really hot and sticky and it's definitely going to be comfortable if you plan on heading down the shore. rehoboth beach 78. high in atlantic city 82. cape may, 81 degrees. and the water temperature at 70 degrees. i can't stress it enough. you can't really beat that. head down to the shore if you can. it's going to be really nice. our temperatures are going to range between 86 and 89 degrees. sunny and warm. we'll see clouds to the south of philadelphia. futurecast shows warmer temperatures tomorrow. take a look at what happens into next week. we will see a warm start on monday but by tuesday through thursday we'll see a return of storms and
