They are blaming it on a Network Connectivity issue. The faa blamed the ground stop on automation issues. Workers started handing out water and snacks to travelers who showed up with no idea what happened. I got here around 8 20 and they told me the systems were down and no planes would take off and we would be waiting in line until they got started moving and it just got started moving now. Thank you. Right now at 11 00, another steamy day throughout our area. Some places are already seeing rain. We could be in for storms later on. Heres a live look right now at center city, philadelphia. Thunderstorms could roll through starting this afternoon. Nbc10 chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is here. Seems worm but not as warm as yesterday. I think thats because of the cloud cover, its blocking some sunshine. It will pretty warm right at the beaches. A live shot of cape may. A lot of people down there by the water. Theres a land breeze there today. We have very light sprinkles across the area now. As you can see, Delaware County and in Gloucester County but everything is pretty light so far. But as the heat builds up during the afternoon, a little bit of sunshine some of these light showers may turn into some locally heavy thunderstorms. Up to 85 degrees now in philadelphia. 86 in northeast philly. 79 in lancaster. Its near the mid80s even at the beaches right now with the wind generally out of the westsouthwest. As you go into the afternoon, you wont see a whole lot of showers on this future cast. But youre going to see these little balls of red that indicates locally intense storm with heavy rain. Thats the main issue during the afternoon. Not a whole lot of widespread rain here or severe thunderstorms expected, but some locally heavy rain. Now, as we go through the afternoon, temperatures going up into the upper 80s. By 6 00 we may be dropping down a little bit if one of those showers goes over your head. Health concerns have been eased this morning in one south Jersey Community after a man became ill in public. About 9 30 last night a man started vomiting and passing out at the wawa in lakewood ocean county. He was taken to the local hospital. There were initial fears he may have contracted ebola since he traveled to africa, but tests confirmed he was not suffering from ebola but, instead, infected with malaria. Officials say they followed standard procedures. Just followed direction of the personnel from the hospital. Ive been in contact with officials from the Ocean County Health department. Malaria is spread by mosquitos and is not transmitted human to human. The fallout continues over the newly released admission from bill cosby he gave quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with. Efforts are trying to get the entire deposition unsealed. Victims lawyers say this could lead to new civil suits against the comedian. Supermodel Beverly Johnson claims cosby gave her a drink she believes was drugged. She says she confronted cosby and he did not sexually assault her. Johnson talked about the new admission. I wasnt surprised. Im just very happy for the victims that they have some sense of peace and validation. Cosbys representatives have denied all the allegations. Criminal charges have never been filed against the comedian. Meanwhile, a bronze bust of cosby was removed from disney studios overnight. A florida woman petitioned disney to make the move seven months ago. 250 supporters signed that paelt. Now the bugs isst is no longer on display. An update on the breaking news we first brought you on nbc10 news at 11 00. The Atlantic City Prosecutors Office is investigating a deadly stabbing at a Convenience Store with Police Killing and shooting the suspect at cedar market in Atlantic City yesterday morning. The owner says a man who is a frequent customer there stabbed a clerk with a knife. A witness says the man was upset about a sandwich. The clerk died. His roommate told us he had just returned from egypt and it was his second day on the job. Police shot and killed the suspect during a confrontation outside the store. His name has not been released. A man recovering after being stabbed near germantown avenue in north philadelphia investigators say after he was stabbed in the arm and leg, he ran to a nearby chinese store and from there dialed 911. The suspect was arrested. Investigators are calling this a domestic incident. Philadelphia police are offering a 10,000 reward for the arrest of the second suspect accused in the shooting that injured seven people last month. Thats after the first suspect, Dennis Tindal was charged with seven counts of aggravated assault and conspiracy. Police say he was involved with a group of men in kensington. Officers say he came back with a second suspect armed with a shot gun and allegedly shot seven people on east hilton street. Three of the victims were children. Police hope Surveillance Video can help them find the person who lobbed a subway store in north liberties. He held up the store at gunpoint. After the worker handed over cash, the suspect ran off and last seen heading west on Spring Garden street. If you recognize the suspect, youre asked to call police. Police are also searching for these Armed Robbers who held up two men in west philadelphia. According to authorities, the victims were walking on locust street on june 22nd with two men with handguns demanded their belongings. The robbers got away with 25, coach wallet and an iphone 6. Sanchez told a local tv station he found the gun wrapped in a tshirt on a bench. When he picked it up it went off. This very well could be a completely accidental discharge of a firearm. That was nbcs Halle Jackson reporting. This Morning Police are searching for the suspects who open fire on a crowd near the university of marylandbaltimore campus, killing three people. Police say two men stopped near the campus around 10 30 last night. Two people started shooting. A man was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man and a woman were taken to the hospital where they later died. A fourth victim walked to a hospital. A local hospital. Is in stable condition. University of Maryland Police urge people to use caution in the area. In South Carolina, federal investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly midair crash involving a fighter jet and a small plane. These aerials here show the crash site near charleston. The air force f16 was on routine training when it collided with a civilian plane yesterday morning. Two people aboard the small plane died. The air force pilot safely ejected. Coast guard video shows a helicopter crew lowering a rescuer to help the pilot. Medics took the pilot to a base hospital for observation. Take a look now at the wreckage of that f16 jet. The midair crash rained down debris over a wide area of mash marshes and rice field. You can see splintered tree and a crater where the empty jet landed. The small plane was destroyed. The South Carolina house of representatives will have the final say in whether the Confederate Flag will continue to hang outside the state capitols building. The house had its First Reading yesterday after the Senate Overwhelmingly voted to remove the flag. The bill has to go through three separate readings in the house just as it did in the senate. A final vote could happen tomorrow. Firefighters are getting the upper hand on a wildfire in northern idaho. The fire has burned more than two square miles of land including six homes. Crews tuesday dropped water and fire retard ant. They say the fire they had the fire contained in just under 1400 acres, but more than 280 structures are still in danger. And high water is a concern in indiana. 15 people were evacuated from their indianapolis homes because of flooding. Firefighters used boats and rafts to bring those people to safety. More than 3 inches of rain fell in some parts of the state yesterday. Thats what i would call localized flooding because it was not widespread. Not a lot of that state that did get flooding. Were going to be seeing just some isolated areas of real heavy rain. Were going to be tracking those downpours as we go through the afternoon. Got more storms coming in on thursday. More widespread activity tomorrow. But relief in the form of lower humidity and the lack of storms as we head toward the weekend. The restaurant chain suspending ties with him after Indiana Police and fbi raided his home, removing electronics, stunning neighbors in this indianapolis neighborhood. Im shocked. I want to know more for sure. Reporter Law Enforcement officials tell nbc news the search was related to the investigation of Russell Taylor the former executive director of fogles nonprofit, the Jared Foundation. Taylor is in jail facing child pornography charges. Hes not yet entered a plea and his attorney declined to comment to nbc news. Court documents allege police recovered more than 400 videos of child pornography at taylors home months ago, including a thumb drive, where the Jared Foundation was listed in a file name. Its not clear what if any, connection fogle has to the child porn charges against taylor. In a written statement, the company said subway and jared fogle have mutually agreed to suspend their relationship. Jared is cooperating with authorities and he expects no action to be forthcoming. In 1998 reporter he became the face of subway more than 15 years ago after shedding 245 pounds, in part by eating subway sandwiches. Now after speculation took social media by storm the chain has removed all references to jared from their website. During a speech in ecuador yesterday, the pope again called for economic and environmental reforms. He told representatives from civic organizations, indigenous communities and catholic lay groups that economic benefits should go hand in hand with social justice. He also said ecuadors Natural Resources should not be exploited for shortterm games. Ecuador is an opec country, dependent on oil drilling. When pope francis addresses joint address for congress the public can see it on jumbotron. Theres room for her family to stay. Last year philadelphias Ronald Mcdonald house hosted over 2,000 families, but they also had to turn that many away. We just cant do that anymore. Meanwhile, a new study shows obese people are more likely to be able to imagine food odors. Researchers found that compared with people of normal weight obese people were able to conjure up more vivid aromas. Researchers also found individuals with a higher body mass index were better able to tell the difference between food and nonfood odors. Experts say these findings express the need for a more personalized approach and determining factors that increase the risk for weight gain. And were following breaking news right now. The land breeze during the day tomorrow makes a big difference rather than the sea breeze. The main threat during the afternoon, if any, is localized flooding because of those small but very intense showers that may be developing. Just some light showers around right now.
