This case a little different. The victim in this one is just 6 years old. It happened in the citys graves ferry neighborhood. Katy zachry is live at Childrens Hospital where that 6yearold boy was taken. How is he doing, do we know . Were told by police he is in stable condition. His parents rushed him here to c. H. O. P. Behind me right after he was shot in the foot. The fact that this happened at all to a child is very concerning to police. What is actually making their investigation even harder is they have no evidence of the shooting. Police are going on what family members and what friends who were with the boy are saing. When officers go the to the scene in grays ferry around 11 30, the boys parents already brought him here to the hospital in philadelphia. Right now police tell us theres no description of the shooter. They have no bullet casing at the scene. They are interviewing friends and family, people who were in that driveway playing basketball with the 6yearold boy. Now, were going to try and get an update on his condition as well as reach out to detectives for an update on the shooter, just in terms of this investigation in general. Theyre launching a campaign called no more fire deaths at noon today in west philadelphia. Firefighters and red cross volunteers will be going door to door installing free lithium Battery Powered smoke alarms and teaching neighbors about fire safety. In delaware today, this from our Delaware Bureau jack markell will sign a new antismoking bill in into law. This bill bans the use of ecigarettes in public places. This is in addition to the clean indoor act which prohibits ecigarettes in places where smoking is already ban. The governor will sign this bill at a restaurant in the wilmington. This is from darlington road, Chester Heights two people had to be rescued. It took them about an hour to get them safely out of there. Speaking of traffic, the knox Covered Bridge in Valley Forge National historic park is now closed because of damage. Officials say it appears that a large vehicle hit the bridge on Yellow Springs road. Penndot engineers are trying to come up with a plan to fix the bridge. Officials say the 150yearold bridge will have to stay closed until that rehab project is complete. So far though no completion date has been determined by penndot.
