View Comments RICHMOND, Ind. — With "now hiring" signs sprouting like dandelions this spring, employers might need something extra to entice workers. The Wayne County Area Chamber of Commerce is introducing a second program to make it more affordable for local companies to provide employees extra benefits. This time, it's an opportunity to offer 401(k) retirement savings. Melissa Vance, president and CEO of the chamber, said local salaries do seem to be rising because of the competitive hiring situation, so that makes the extras offered to employees even more important. "How do you sweeten the pot to be able to not just attract employees to start with but to retain them once they get there?” Vance said.
