In conversation with Mitali Mukherjee, he said he was confident the state government could garner Rs 30,000 crore in GST for the financial year. The minister â who is also Deputy Chief Minister and handles education â also ruled out the possibility of a cut in state government VAT on petrol or diesel (central excise duties account for 37% of the retail price for petrol in Delhi while state government VAT accounts for 23%).
