an abc news exclusive, happily ever after, jennifer aniston speaking out for the first time since saying "i do" revealing how she got all her friends to keep the wedding secret. >> where there is a will there is a way. >> what she's saying this morning only on "gma." and good morning, america. a lot ahead this thursday morning. look at robin, she is in new orleans right now and it's hard to believe but it's been ten years since hurricane katrina. robin, you've been working on a special commemorating that anniversary. >> yeah, george, it is hard to believe but i am down here as we approach the ten-year mark since hurricane katrina and last night, we held a special screening of the abc special that will be shown sunday night, "katrina ten years after the storm." it's not a celebration of what happened ten years ago but a celebration of the human spirit, perseverance and hope. we'll have more throughout the morning from here in jackson square to you there in times square, george and amy. >> thank you, robin. so many incredible stories to hear. can't wait to hear more. first to those deadly fires out west. winds picking up in washington. the fire forcing more than a thousand to evacuate and neal karlinsky is in washington state with the very latest on all this. good morning, neal. >> reporter: amy, good morning. such a tragedy in this tight-knit firefighting community. this fire spread so fast, we've actually been caught out and spent our night in the car unable to go further. three communities just down the way here quickly evacuated by the fast-moving flames. what one fire official called a hell storm. the three firefighters killed battling a blaze in central washington, four others injured when winds shifted unexpectedly turning back on the crews battling the blaze. fire overtaking their vehicle. >> it was a hell storm up here, and the winds were blowing in every direction. >> reporter: that fire began is over 50 acres and quickly spread to over 1500 acres. >> lose your life fighting fire is horrible. >> reporter: at least 1,000 residents of twisp and winthrop, washington, ordered to leave their homes. fire so intense across washington this week, black hawk helicopters and the national guard called in to help. >> past ten hours we're up here. it's hot, you know, getting blisters on our heels. >> reporter: near livermore, california, east of oakland plumes of smoke seen for miles around. air tankers being used to help try to contain the growing fire. >> they've kept it out of the houses and into the forest. >> reporter: no names have been released yet pending notification of their families. just a terrible, terrible night for firefighters out here and making matters even worse, very strong winds are now in the forecast capable of spreading this fire even more. george. >> oh, my goodness. such a sad story. thanks very much. we turn to that duel between donald trump and jeb bush, town halls last night just miles apart in new hampshire and the gloves came off with taunts and direct attacks. abc's tom llamas covering all the action and joins us now. good morning, tom. >> reporter: george, good morning to you. donald trump has gone after jeb bush before but never like this. openly mocking him and the trump crowds loving every minute of it. this as jeb bush who was trying to stay above the fray, it may be too late for that. >> you know what, i'll tell you what, you know what's happening to jeb's crowd as you know right down the street, they're sleeping. they're sleeping now. >> reporter: overnight, donald trump and jeb bush in a tear-down fight over immigration and the republican party. both men holding town halls in new hampshire at the same time wednesday night. >> right down the road we have jeb. very small crowd. we have 2,500. >> reporter: trump the clear front-runner taking jabs at jeb while trying to close the deal with voters over his immigrant plan including building a wall along the border with mexico. >> i want it to be so beautiful because maybe someday they'll call it the trump wail maybe. >> reporter: and now seen as president he's enlist local pliskova to help round up some of the 11 million undocumented immigrants he wants to deport. >> we'll get them out so fast and so quick it's going to be tough. it won't be like will you come please with us. >> reporter: meanwhile, governor bush making the point that trump isn't a real republican. >> he doesn't have a true conservative record. he was a democrat longer in the last decade than he was a republican. he's given more money to democrats than he's given to republicans. >> reporter: bush saying trump's message could hurt the gop with hispanic voters. >> look, the language is pretty vitriolic for hour. >> reporter: we asked him about a phrase he's using more and more anchor babies to describe children of undocumented immigrants born in the u.s. trump says the parents have the child so they're not deported. people find that hurtful. >> you mean it's not political correct and yet everybody uses it. >> look it up in the dictionary. >> i'll use the word anchor baby. excuse me. >> reporter: we have new polls. three critical swing states this morning. take a look at this. trump is actually leading in bush's own state of florida along with pennsylvania. and just behind the sitting governor of ohio john kasich in the buckeye state but head-to-head with hillary clinton, a different story. clinton ahead in ohio and pennsylvania, but trump on top in florida. the only republican to beat hillary in those three swing state, senator marco rubio. george. >> boy, trump is defining this race right now. tom, thanks very much. now to the latest on jimmy carter's health battle. he's set to hold a news conference this morning a week after revealing he has cancer. abc news chief white house correspondent jonathan karl joins us from the carter center in atlanta. good morning, jon. >> reporter: good morning, amy. the 90-year-old jimmy carter is an incredibly active former president who continues to travel the world doing humanitarian work. later this morning here at the carter center he will speak only for the first time about that cancer diagnosis revealed just last week. just days ago, jimmy carter did what he does most sundays, he went to church in his hometown of plains, georgia, and attended bible study. it was his first public appearance since he told the world last week "recent liver surgery revealed that i have cancer that now is in other parts of my body." carter has not yet revealed the specifics of his cancer but his father and all three of his siblings died of pancreatic cancer. >> my name is jimmy carter and i'm running for president. >> reporter: the peanut farmer turned president whose four years in office were marred by an energy shortage and iranian hostage crisis has redefined what it means to be a former president. carter and his wife rosalynn married for 69 years have dedicated the last three decades to humanitarian work around the globe through the carter center. the deeply religious former president told george last chapter. >> you know, you recently said that you and rosalynn are prepared in a religious and psychological way for what comes next. >> that's true. i'm not eager to get there. i'm just as active as i was 25, 30 years ago. i'll be 91 in october. did all my travel capability and my physical stuff will die down and have more time with rosalynn at home. >> reporter: carter plans to teach sunday school at his hometown church in plains, georgia, this weekend and he recently told the head of habitat for humanity he plans to go forward and continue on with a trip to nepal in november despite this diagnosis. george. >> mr. optimistic. okay, jon karl, thanks very much. more from dr. richard besser right now. so jimmy carter 90 years old otherwise in pretty good health besides the cancer. what are his options at this point? >> i don't think he's going to be limited so much by being 90 years old by what type of cancer it is. that will determine a lot. is it pan kri pancreatic cancer or colon or liver -- >> his father and three siblings all died from pancreatic cancer. >> i think that's probably the most likely because of that. >> rich besser, thanks very much. to that bombshell for oscar pistorius dropping just two days before the olympian was set to be released from prison after serving ten months of a five-year sentence for shooting his girlfriend to death. justice officials in south africa blocking his early release and terry moran is in johannesburg with the very latest on that story, good morning, terry. >> reporter: good morning, amy. what's happened in this case comes as a blow, a crushing blow to oscar pistorius. he was so close to getting out of this prison he could probably taste it but for the family of reeva steenkamp, this is justice. this morning, pistorius' lawyers desperate to overturn his reversal, now delayed indefinitely. pistorius had been set to leave jail tomorrow paroled after only ten months of his five-year prison sentence and serve the rest of his time on house arrest at his uncle's mansion but south africa's justice department ruling the june decision to release pistorius was made prematurely when the offender was not eligible to be considered at all. >> not guilty and is discharged, instead he's found guilty of culpable homicide. >> reporter: pistorius found guilty of manslaughter for negligently firing into his bathroom door valentine's day 2013 killing then girlfriend reeva steenkamp. wednesday steenkamp's friends and family remembering her on what would have been her 32nd birthday and welcoming pistorius' reversal of fortune. >> for the crime that he committed, ten months is definitely not enough. definitely without a doubt. >> reporter: so, what happens now? well, a court could order that oscar pistorius be released as originally scheduled or send the whole matter to the parole board. but they only meet a few times a year so he could be in here for months, at least. george. >> thanks, terry. the latest facing underage sex and child pornography charges in court wednesday. the millionaire pitchman's attorney saying fogle will plead guilty in a deal that could put him behind bars for 5 to 12 years. >> acknowledge his responsibility for his wrongdoing. >> reporter: rochelle herman says she went to the authorities claiming he made inappropriate comments to her about middle schoolgirls. >> i was shocked. i was stunned. i couldn't believe what i just heard. >> reporter: overnight, herman says she worked under cover with the fbi for 4 1/2 years wearing a wire and secretly recording conversations with fogle. the fbi has not confirmed her account. >> he would tell me the ages that he was interested in, boy or girl. and he would also indicate the fact that he has done it before. >> reporter: herman says she's still worried about the victims. >> those children suffer. those children's lives have changed forever. >> reporter: and we did reach out to fogle and his attorney for clashes marking the one-year anniversary of the death of michael brown in nearby ferguson. newly released video shows the exact moment when that motel 6 near seattle exploded. a gas leak is to blame. of it. turns out it was an active world war ii era american mine. authorities swooped in and blew the thing up. finally in an era of so much law enforcement controversy, there is this, behold officer bryson lystrup seen here on surveillance video dancing the whip and the nae nae inside a 7-eleven in pleasant grove, utah. the workers there dared him to do it and then they handed the video over to the department which then posted it on facebook saying "warning, this video is a little hard to watch. we are looking at getting this officer some help asap." he has not been suspended although we're told if he had been doing the dougie, stanky leg or smoney -- >> i don't know what any of -- >> that proves your lack of cultural -- >> every time that song comes out both my girls break out. >> been trying to figure out what it's doing for the past decade and now i think we finally figured it out. the best part is, it can be fixed. >> i see an ice storm in the forecast. >> reporter: all those icy cold moment moments raising money to fight als, 115 million for the als association and 77 million went straight into research. pete fretes were the first to start it. >> we did get one with no mom is perfect. we all do our best. now this morning some are asking how a 17-year-old girl could even meet a stranger on tinder, tinder telling abc news overnight, "this is a very upsetting situation. we have security measures in place to help verify each user's authenticity saying users age 13 to 17 can only connect with other users in that same age range on tinder. if we learn that a user lied about their age in order to interact with users outside of their appropriate age group we delete their profile immediately." it put a spotlight on children and mental illness. the u.s. surgeon general estimates about 20% of american kids have some mortgage of mental illness and research shows that half of all mental illnesses begin by age 14. so glad that rosie o'donnell's daughter is safe and getting the help that she needs. >> that is high. one out of five kids. >> i was so surprised to hear that. >> reena, thank you. up next in our "heat index," actress shannen doherty revealing she is battling breast cancer and the former "beverly hills 90210" star blaming her managers claiming they didn't pay her health insurance and insisting a lapse in coverage kept her from seeing doctors. "nightline" anchor juju chang has more. >> reporter: call it life dramatically imitating art. >> i have a tumor in my breast. >> reporter: this morning, actress shannen doherty making headlines for her real-life health scare turned bitter lawsuit. >> what does it feel like? >> like a hard little lump. >> reporter: the "90210" revealing she has invasive breast cancer that spread to at least one lymph node during a period of time she says she was unknowingly uninsured and her business manager is to blame. the lawsuit filed against business management firm tanner mainstain says they failed to pay the invoice for her health insurance which she had through the screen actors guild. >> she couldn't get insurance until the 2015 enrollment opened after which she did go to the doctor and found out that she had breast cancer and that it had spread during last year when she was uninsured. >> reporter: the lawsuit also claiming had she been insured and able to visit her doctor the cancer could potentially have been stopped, thus obviating the need for future treatment including mastectomy and chemotherapy that plaintiff will likely have to suffer through now. >> i think the biggest challenge shannen will have in this lawsuit is linking her cancer, her need for treatment, any claims of delayed treatment to the actions of her business managers with respect to these insurance payments. >> reporter: in a statement to abc news tanner mainstain says while the company is saddened to learn that miss doherty is suffering from cancer, the claim that tanner mainstain caused her to be uninsured, prevented her from seeking medical care or somehow contributed to her cancer is patently false. overnight the actress' attorney telling us trust was violated here and we hope that the defendants will correct it in a responsible manner. for "good morning america," juju chang, abc news, new york. >> juju, thank you. now. lawsuit? >> look, we all feel for shannen doherty. but the notion that somehow the fact that her health care, she says, wasn't being paid led her not to go to the doctor and, therefore, she's holding them responsible, very, very tough legally to do. now, we don't even know if they're going to concede that they were responsible for paying this. there's a lot of questions that still need to be answered but even if you assume everything she's saying is true which is they were supposed to pay it, they didn't pay it, as a result, i wasn't able to get back enrolled until 2015, even if all of that is true, it still is really hard to link legally her cancer -- >> the advanced stage of her cancer. >> exactly with their actions. >> is this arrangement typical in hollywood where you have money managers dealing with insurance? >> you know, you also have lawyers, money managers, if you're a successful actor in hollywood, you tend to get a terrible deal when you do these sorts of arrangements. now, some of the lawyers out there and managers will disagree with me but tends to be a terrible deal which is they take a cut of all your money and they say you'll handle this for me and handle that for me when if you got people to do it individually it would be a lot cheaper but this is a very typical relationship that you see with successful actors and actresses in hollywood, but the question becomes exactly what were think expected to do? what was their job? and the problem is a lot of the time it's not laid out in writing. it just becomes a kind of agreement which says, i'll give you 5% and you'll handle a lot of my stuff. >> right. >> and the question is going to be, was this specifically articulated as one of the items that they were supposed to handle and did they not do it? >> we'll be watching it. i know you will, dan. back over to george. >> stress rescue time and this morning we'll take a look at how stress spreads. we know how anxiety can go up when you're with someone that's stressed. stress can actually be contagious, researchers say. mara schiavocampo explains. relax don't do it >> reporter: we've all heard of yawns being contagious but what about stress? can a stressed office mate, spouse or complete stranger actually be stressing you out? researchers say, yes. a team at st. louis university finding that a stranger just observing someone in a stressful situation -- >> you accuse me of stealing of gift cards. >> reporter: had elevated heart rates age cortisol levels. >> you can see list sit them by sitting and watching someone else under stress. >> reporter: researchers say stress is passed on through things like facial expression, voice frequency, odor and touch and just watching these stressful signs our own bodies release the stress hormone cortisol and studies have found you're four times more likely to catch stress from someone you know. last year i sat down with researchers at u.c. san francisco studying the effect a mother's stress had on her child. the mothers had to give an impromptu speech while they scowled critically. >> you can hear the voice shake. >> reporter: their children played happily in another room and when reunited with mom, all of the babies of stressed mothers had an equally elevated heart rate. they had caught their mother's stress. >> here's the baby's little heart rate. >> reporter: we did our own un unscientific test using fitbits to monitor heart rates of cups putting one on the spot while the other looked on. >> if you can count backwards eight. >> oh, my god. >> reporter: as our subjects squirmed so did their significant other. >> i think my stress level was going through the roof. >> reporter: in fact, this woman's heartbeat rose by 12 beats as she watched her husband struggle even offering to take the reins. but experts say the worst thing we can do is try to hide our stress. it doesn't work and keeps others from being able to support us. for "good morning america," mara schiavocampo, abc news, new york. >> thanks to mara for that. dr. richard besser here right now. my wife will tell you if you're in a traffic jam with me it proves this is true. we'll run a more scientific -- >> we'll show a demonstration. we don't know if the reason you get stressed is something called mirror neurons, neurons in your brain that are triggered by someone else's stress or that sense of empathy but want to show a demonstration with heather. heather is hooked up to all kinds of monitor, heart rate monster, something for respiration on her hands and measuring sweat and facial movement and she's been looking at stressful situations that don't involve her. they involve other people so there's someone on a roller coaster, a baby crying and a couple fighting and we're monitoring all of those vital signs while she's going through this but earlier this morning we did the same thing, we had stefanie preston a stress researchers at the university of michigan do these measurements and let me show you what one of the images we got of her printouts here and what you see here, this here is facial movements and she was looking at a child crying and the subtle facial movements were picked up here. this here is the sweat at the level of her hand and showed she was feeling stress there and her heart rate went from 60 to 90 beats a minute just from watching that in were you aware these things were happening? >> i felt a little nervous, yeah, and i have a 6-month-old at home so i think that made the baby crying a little bit more personal. >> just brings it all out in you and this proves it right here. thank you, both. now outside to ginger. >> oh, let's get out here to a great group. look at all my new friends from >> baby is much happier now. all right, lara, let's get in for some "pop"?
