In an advisory issued on Thursday, DOH Eastern Visayas Regional Director Exuperia Sabalberino calls for strict implementation and adherence to the agency's "Mask-Hugas-Iwas-Airflow-Bakuna" advocacy to deter the upsurge of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). "The public is encouraged to continue practicing public health measures such as physical distancing, wearing of well-fitted face masks, hand and respiratory hygiene (hand washing), and ensuring good ventilation by opening windows and doors where possible during the voting process. This must be always observed in all polling precincts," Sabalberino said. The official advised the public to bring their own pens, have their temperature checked before entering the voting center, and exit the polling center as soon as they are done voting to prevent the precincts from being crowded. Commission on Elections (Comelec) Eastern Visayas Assistant Regional Director Felicisimo Embalsado earlier said voting sites will have an isolation area, which are separated booths or classrooms for voters showing Covid-19 symptoms. The Comelec has already sent sanitizers, body temperature checkers, disinfectants, and other needed health supplies to six provinces and seven cities in the region. Eastern Visayas has 3,166,262 registered voters for 6,271 clustered precincts established in 4,390 villages. (PNA) }
