VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. â Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, and businesses at the Oceanfront as well as the rest of the City of Virginia Beach are preparing for crowds, especially since COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted on Friday, May 28.
On Wednesday, the city sent out a press release with information to help residents and tourists ahead of the holiday weekend.
âWe are anxious to celebrate together and want everyone â residents and visitors â to enjoy themselves,â said Mayor Robert M. âBobbyâ Dyer. âWith more people and greater activity comes our responsibility to increase our enforcement efforts, especially in the areas of public safety, parking and cleanliness. Because it has been a while since we have been able to gather in large groups, we want to make sure we get the word out about what the city is doing and what people need to know.â
