MUMBAI: Justice has prevailed in a bank theft case following which two officers have come out clean after a year.
The two officers of a nationalized bank — who had gone into depression due to the taint after they were blamed for Rs 20 lakh theft in the Vile Parle Branch — had even taken an overdraft to pay the stolen cash.
They, finally, applauded the Vile Parle police’s efforts to track down the real culprit who had stolen the money from the bank’s chest on December 12, 2019.
Vile Parle police managed to recover Rs 9 lakh from Biren Vakhariya (33), a data entry operator, after his arrest on February 4, whose role was established in the theft after retrieving the deleted closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
