Victorian budget: After the lockdown, the government promises to heal its damaged citizens

Last year, Daniel Andrews implemented a lockdown that undermined the psychological wellbeing of countless Victorians.
This year, his government is going to raise an employment tax to patch up the damage.

A payroll tax increase introduced in the Victorian Labor government’s seventh budget, which is branded a mental health and wellbeing levy, is emblematic of the entire document.
Terrible taxes are being used to make the government’s finances look less bad.
Explaining the payroll levy, in a news conference on Thursday morning, Treasurer Tim Pallas said it was “appropriate that big business make a substantial contribution”.
