Ventura County recorded 751 new positive cases of COVID-19 and eight additional deaths on Wednesday as hospitalizations reached a new peak amid the ongoing surge.  
The new positive cases and deaths come after Tuesday added 737 cases and six deaths, bringing county totals up to 32,895 total cases and 224 deaths.
Wednesday's deaths included a 50-year-old man who did not have any other contributing health issues. The other fatailities were in a 43-year-old man, 64-year-old man, two 65-year-old men, an 84-year-old woman, an 87-year-old woman, and an 89-year-old woman, all of whom had coexisting health problems in addition to COVID-19.
Tuesday's fatalities were a 63-year-old woman, a 68-year-old woman, an 86-year-old man, a 95-year-old woman and two 96-year-old women, all of whom had other contributing factors to their death along with a COVID-19 diagnosis. Among nonfatal cases, 3,494 were actively infected under quarantine while 29,185 have recovered, according to public health data.
