US: Amazon to face U.S. union push in year ahead Aldi close to closing deal at one Tallahassee location as hiring begins for another Aldi is setting its sights on a new grocery store at the University Village on Tallahassee's west side. The German discount grocery is close to closing a deal to build a 20,000 square-foot new store in a detached parcel, a former Capital City Bank branch, within the 20-acre shopping center. Located on a .77-acre strip, it will be sandwiched between Aveda Institute and Ocala Road. "They are very excited about the location, and they’re very excited about Tallahassee,” said Steve Leoni, co-founder of Student Housing Partners, the shopping center's property manager. Leoni expects the deal to close within a month. He also said the grocer may be in the market to open four or five stores in Leon County.
