KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) has welcomed the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's advice that Parliament can sit during the current state of Emergency. The party leaders said the King's views reflected his concerns and the importance of maintaining the functions of the three branches of government - executive, legislature and judiciary - during this challenging time. "With the statement from the King, we hope that Parliament will be called soon as many issues and matters need to be addressed urgently. "Likewise, the Sabah Legislative Assembly should also reconvene," the leaders - Upko president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, deputy president Senator Datuk Donald Mojuntin and vice-president Datuk Ewon Benedict said.
